  1. Not only did Lexus of Chester Springs (PA) pick up my car for service, they filled up my gas tank! EDIT--Thanks to Kurtz on CL for pointing out that this is part of the fuel line recall--they drain the gas and refill the tank. Oh, well.
  2. OUTSTANDING! Thanks! This is exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks for the URL. You are missing the parts to the jack??? Better get those right away. I have the jack and the handle but not the lug wrench or key for the wheel locks. In the back of the Owners Manual Supplement there is a 5 or 6 digit key number. I took this to be for the ignition key but it might be for the wheel lock key. Does anybody know? I'd just have the dealer swap out the wheel locks at your next service with regular lug nuts--they are worthless anyway.
  3. It's a little square box behind the mirror. If you rub your finger on it while it's in auto, it will activate.
  4. OUTSTANDING! Thanks! This is exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks for the URL. You are missing the parts to the jack??? Better get those right away.
  5. If it's kept in a garage, then just start and go.
  6. I have no idea what they cost from Lexus. I also don't know what tools are included. What I want is the Lexus branded tool kit with all the tools that originally came with my 2006 IS250 AWD w/ Nav. If this is what you have and will post a photo of it showing tools, Etc. I will check w/Lexus for the cost of a new one and then make you an offer. Thanks. Except for the wheel lock and the tool to remove the faceplate in front of the Nav Disk, it's really just a set of tools, not unlike something you could get at Walmart or Pep Boys (much cheaper, I'm sure).
  7. Yes, I mean the "hard key" -- the key that has limited function and is intended for use by parking lot attendants. Gen 2 IS don't have that. Only an emergency key. You have to pry off a piece of the door handle to use it. Yeah--the emergency key. That's what I meant. Seems to be too much trouble.
  8. You should always have the same tires. Since the treads could be different. You don't wanna have different tires on your car. So yes, just go with the useless and overpriced Potenzas for now, unless you wanna replace all 4 with something better and sell the 3 you have left. Same thing happened to me. the lexus dealer had the best price, plus was the only shop with the tires in stock--plus a free RX loaner.
  9. Valey key? You mean the hard key? This has been asked before. I'm not sure if anyone tried the manual key, but all other methods have failed.
  10. This is 100% true. Last winter was very mild here in Philly, and we had one snowstorm. We've had a few here so far this winter, and the AWD is not as sure footed as I would have thought--but this is my first car that's not FWD in 15 years, so it takes some getting used to. I do think the OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE092's contributed to this--they are rated horribly on tirerack.com, especially in snow traction.
  11. Auto or manual? If you go on lexus.com, and look at the options page for the IS, ML is NOT an option for the 6MT, but is available on other models. If it's shown as an option, it can be special ordered.
  12. Sounds like it's exactly what he wants. That's what a tuning button ^ or v will do.
  13. I thought about this--a "Turbo" badge would be awesome. I'm thinking the late '80s Saab style "Turbo" badge. Trouble is, there's still the "2".
  14. Now I know this is all a joke. HaHa--you got us.
  15. So--you just don't like the number "2"? Or, you just don't like the looks of the "2" on the Lexus? What if you found a "2" from another car, in another font, and replaced the Lexus "2"? Or what if you found the letters "T," "W" and "O", so you would have "IS TWO50"? Or better yet, "IS TWO FIFTY" (kind like the Ford Five Hudred)?
  16. I've had the dealer forget this. I'm not surprised the neighborhood mechanic doesn't/forgets to do it.
  17. Sounds like the Tungsten is more of what we want then. We do not want a silver car that is for sure so I am hoping it is more white. I will have to see them in person. Thanks Tungsten is Silver--it is not white at all. Glacier Frost is the color that has all the different shades of white/blue/purple. In some light, it looks like primer. The current white on the IS is Starfire Pearl. In '06 it was called something else; but Tungsten has always been silver, and Glacier Frost has always been hard to describe.
  18. 1--It barely got out of the 20's here in Penna last week--no problems with the screen. I've also had a Honda with nav for 5 years, and never seen the weather cause a problem with it. 2--Cannot be done. 3--I was coming out of an Acura, so it sounded odd to me too. But it's normal. 4--My only mods are the Lexus Personalized Settings.
  19. I just confirmed a service appointment at Lexus of Chester Springs (PA), and specified drop off/pick up, to which they responded: "At what address?" You may want to shop around other dealers and see if they'll pick up to get your service business. Chester Springs picks up within a 100 mile radius, and Lexus of Wilmington DE will pick up within a 2 hour radius--so it's worth exploring, even with dealers that aren't close by.
  20. Blood type ??? Blood Donor limited edition plates, too!
  21. Please try to be patient. There's not a lot of traffic here, especially on the weekends. Pehaps you'd get more activity in General Discussion forum. Just a thought. 213 views and 14 votes. Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of interest generally (as unsceintific as an LOC poll is...).
