  1. If that doesn't solve the problem, why wouldn't you want to go to the dealer and have them check it out? Could be serious?
  2. Check out the TSIB sticky up above--there's one on dash rattles. Mine makes a crackling noise from the instrument panel (sometimes); I plan to request the TSIB @ my 5000 mi service.
  3. Thanks everyone for your comments. I stopped of at my dealer on my lunch and they blamed it on the burned cd's. I think this is total crap because the cd player is designed to allow cd-r media to be used. I had two previous IS's and I always used burned discs. I tend to use six discs and load them up with mp3s and listen to my tunes. I never had any problems with this before and then it stopped playing. Lexus has placed an order for a new drive and will call me when it arrives. I guess they have to swap it out with a new drive and then they will mail me the cds back. I could care less about my burned cds though. I'm kind of shocked to hear that they actually blamed the cd-r's as the problem. They told me to stop using copied or burned cds in the car. I'm sorry, I will continue ti used burned media until Lexus updates the owner's manual stating that the consumer is not supposed to use burned cds. I love Lexus but this is a lame excuse. I'm glad they are fixing it though. :) Many other posters have reported the same response from their dealer, here and other sites. It's total BS.
  4. You can't realistically compare the Accord 4 cylinder with the Lexus IS. If this is going to nag at you, get the Honda.
  5. The ES does not have AWD--its FWD only. It's based on the Camry/Avalon platform. The ES, like the Avalon Limited, has Smart Key.
  6. Of course you do--it's a std feature. It's on the same button as the rear window defogger.
  7. If you are going to drop $40K for a car, I can't imagine buying 91 octane is really a deal killer--you're talking about $100-$150 dollars per year. Of course, using regular octane won't hurt the engine--it just won't perform to its optimum levels. If power's an issue, the G35x has 100hp more than the IS250, and most of the features Lexus offers (but not vented seats)
  8. No--correct pressures are labeled on a sticker in the driver's door jamb. 35F/37R.
  9. That's a pretty good deal--may get a little better if you wait for December. You may want to grill them on the Lux Pkg--I got mine in the spring, and it was hard to find them with that. Unless I got black, white or silver, it was going to be a special order--I settled with the silver, which, with Sterling interior, still took the dealer a month to locate.
  10. You can damage your rims just from normal driving?? You can damage them if you hit something. Also,Tex2670, where did you find four tires for $200, or did I misinterpret what you said in your post? That was me that said that, and I meant it was $200 to re-shape all 4 wheels, and yes you can damage them from normal driving in the Northeast at least, pothole city up this way. So it's a road anomoly that can damage the rims--not just driving itself. But with lower profile tires, potlholes are more likely to hurt your rims--that's what you mean, right?
  11. You can damage your rims just from normal driving??
  12. I always leave them on. But I probably shouldn't--I dont drive on too many unlit roads. I do not find it distracting at all.
  13. Do you have vented seats, and if so, is one of them on? the dial would be set to 1 2 or 3 in blue.
  14. Have you tried switching dealers so someone else is looking at it?
  15. Right result, wrong way to get there. The TSIB is for brake dust, not brake squeak. They have to replace them for free per the TSIB, no matter whether they squeak or are worn down, or are brand new. Only need the customer to compain about brake dust.
  16. This is one of the few LPS you can change yourself, if you don't like it. Fact is, the 4 pages of LPS floating around is deceiving. Someone dug up all the things that could possibly be changed (and some of the stuff is duplicative, or won't apply--for example, there are separate LPS for the doors automatically locking for auto tranny and manual). If you go on the owner link page of the Lexus website, you can print out the one page form of the LPS that Lexus actually advertises about--what they claim are the "most popular". The LPS should not guide your decision here. BTW--anyone know HOW MUCH it costs to change the LPS after the freebie?
  17. I think you want this thread in the Wheels and Tires forum.
  18. I believe the original poster asked how to keep their car in the absolute best condition, and the way to do that is to learn how to detail it properly or pay a competent professional to do so for you. Obviously your goal is not the same as the original poster's. While your point of view is fine, this is the detailing forum. If you don't want advice from the standpoint that detailing is a neccisary and enjoyable part of proper car ownership you shouldn't read or participate in the detailing forum. I'd also appreciate it if you wouldn't insinuate that the members that feel this way don't have a life or don't have a life as important or fulfilling as yours. Since you haven't been a part of this discussion so far and have nothing of relevance to add to it I can only assume your post was meant to put others down. Thats rude, and it won't be tolerated here. I didn't reply to the OP--I replied to Lexusaddict, who said "unlike many other lexus owners who take it to the nearest Joe-shmo wash and have someone do it for them with who knows what products/pads/towels". Not sure why it's ok for Lexusaddict to make insulting generalizations (as long as they are consistent with your POV), but you flame me when you believe I have done so. If you desire to have the cleanest car on the block, there's nothing wrong with that. But that doesn't mean others can't feel differently, and it doesn't mean that only the clean freaks are permitted to post in this forum.
  19. Ever been to a BMW or Mercedes dealer? They have some god awful "in" colors. Not to mention BMW's horrible orange leather interior in the X3.
  20. While good advice is always appreciated, some of us do have a life outside of this forum and may not have the time, energy or desire to make such a substantial effort to wash a car, and, while any Lexus is a darn nice car, it is, in fact, just a car.
  21. Just bought an IS 250 from a NJ dealer. Joel Cohen was the salesperson. I would definitely say you could get $1500 over invoice. It is at Ray Catena in New Jersey. Just work with the internet salesrep/. If you do buy it there, pm me- tehy give $100 referals. Great expereince and I will tell my friends. I agree in NJ--I would have bought from them, but Lexus of Chester Springs gave me a better deal (about $700 over invoice, back in May), and was closer and I didn't have to deal with the hassle of transferring tags.
  22. Edmunds won't have a good price yet--not enough buyers reporting back as to their price this early in the model year. Unfortunately, I don't have a price for you. If you don't get bites here, hit as many forums as possible, like Club Lexus.
