  1. I've had mixed results (mostly bad) using repro/after market panels and accessories on my 67 mustang. And its almost always related to the quality control of the manufacturer. Meaning, if you contact Sewell they may be aware of fitment issues - or you could demand that they send you a replacement to exchange yours with. It should be easy enough to document the problem and send them pics. You may very well find that the replacement fits perfectly. I'm a little confused about the OEM reference...did one of the models come standard with the ground effects you're referring to? If it is, in fact, OEM and manufactured and/or licensed by Lexus - perhaps the problem lies in your bumper and that needs to be adjusted or replaced if it was tweaked. But as far as the "foam" solution mentioned, I don't think I would pursue. If you're content with keeping the current (defective?) piece on there I would go back to the install shop to ask for advice on how to conceal it better. They're the experts and have probably come across problems like this before. Good luck with your solution. Thank you for the feedback. I've contacted Sewell and I'm waiting on a reply. I was thinking that perhaps it could have been my rear bumper that caused the GFX to not fit. The only question I'd have there - I've never had any kind of accident that would or should cause the bumper to be off. So, I'm confused on that thought. As for the OEM thing, Sewell claims to sell OEM official Lexus parts. I purchased and installed the front air damn for the IS250/350 and it fits like a charm. Perfect. I was kind of shocked that the rear part didn't fit. Heck, even the auto shop was thrown off by it. We'll see what happens next. I'll be sure to report my findings when they unfold. Thanks again for the feedback. It's appreciated.
  2. I had the rear ground fx installed on my 07 IS250 yesterday. The place where I had it installed is known for their work with repairing Lexus models. I thought great, I'm stoked I had the front air dam installed there and all went well. Also, they have previously worked on my IS300 and again, all was perfect. They are even recommended by my local Lexus dealer. Hmmm. So, I came back to pick up my ride and they installed it and told me that it didn't fit as perfectly as the front air dam did. They claimed that they did everything that they could to make it fit like a charm but it wasn't working. It was almost like the rear part was a tad too big. I don't know why. The part came from Sewell Online. Just like the front air dam so I know the part is legit and OEM. The gaps are on the left and right side corners. They aren't very big but they reflect off of the rear bumper and make the gaps look bigger than they really are. Has anyone else ran into this issue or has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, were you able to fix it? I'm thinking of putting some black foam in between these small gaps just to hide it better. Any ideas and or suggestions?
  3. There is a LONG story to ALL of this but I don't feel like explaining it all. But here is the order of the car's i've owned. 1993 - ES300 2001 - IS300 2006 - IS250 2007 - IS350 2007 - Honda Civic Sedan 2007 - Acura TSX 2007 - IS250 (current car in garage) I'm only going Lexus from this day forward.
  4. Thanks everyone for your comments. I stopped of at my dealer on my lunch and they blamed it on the burned cd's. I think this is total crap because the cd player is designed to allow cd-r media to be used. I had two previous IS's and I always used burned discs. I tend to use six discs and load them up with mp3s and listen to my tunes. I never had any problems with this before and then it stopped playing. Lexus has placed an order for a new drive and will call me when it arrives. I guess they have to swap it out with a new drive and then they will mail me the cds back. I could care less about my burned cds though. I'm kind of shocked to hear that they actually blamed the cd-r's as the problem. They told me to stop using copied or burned cds in the car. I'm sorry, I will continue ti used burned media until Lexus updates the owner's manual stating that the consumer is not supposed to use burned cds. I love Lexus but this is a lame excuse. I'm glad they are fixing it though. :)
  5. Hello. I have an 2007 IS250 without navi and today I was listening to some tunes and then the player just stopped for no reason. At first I thought maybe the cd-r was scratched so I skipped tracks. Nope, nothing happened. I then skipped to the next track and again nothing. I decided to skip to a different disc and again nothing is happening. The disk number changes and the track number will change but nothing happens. I tried to eject the disk and the little amber light flashes and nothing comes out. The cds appears to be trapped inside the player. Does anyone know if there is away to get the cds to come out of the cd drive? Is there a manual way to do this or some way of pushing a pin of some sort? I want to save a trip to my Lexus dealership. Thank you all for any help in advance.
  6. I'm sorry, I don't like it. Ick. I respect what people can do with their rides though. In my opinion is looks tacky. I guess that's just my taste.
  7. Actually, I was talking to my husband last night about this, and he told me we paid $31k, not $33k. Was that before tax and fees etc? If so, that's still good.
  8. Wow... Hello fellow bay area Lexus fan - In terms of getting the IS250 for under 30k - I assume you want under 30k BEFORE taxes. Because let's face it, even with taxes and registration etc you're going to pay 30k. I'm sorry, that's just the reality of things. If you want one for 29k (before taxes) then read on... What you were told is true.. there are no "base" models on any lot. The cheapest one you'll find WILL have the 18inch wheels, wood trim, heated and ventilate seats, trunk net and mat etc. This is true. If you want the absolute base model you will have to order it. BUT, you can get the one mentioned about for 29k before taxes. HERE'S HOW I DID IT.... If you live in the bay area I would suggest contacting Lexus of Pleasanton. Yes, the one at the auto mall. Visit their website and send an email request for a price. You'll end up talking with a guy named Eric Hanson (Internet Sales Manager) eric.hanson@hendrickauto.com You'll get a call back the same day. This lot deals quantity sales and not mark up (according to him). I was able to talk him down to 29,600.00 for the Tungsten Pearl / Black Interior 2007 IS250 with the 18inch wheels, wood trim blah blah blah and NO Navi. It's true. I kid you not. He will probably tell you that he can make a good deal if you come in before the weekend. If you decide to contact them I WOULD NOT jump right to it and say "hey, I heard I can get the car for 29.6." I would call him, let him know you want the cheapest price you can get. Let'em know you've done your homework online and you know that you can get the car for under MSRP. Also, if needed, mention that you've sent off your request to other Lexus dealerships. The guy SHOULD work with you and get you the car for under 30k sticker price. Heck, he sold it for 1,400 UNDER INVOICE. You may want to go ahead and email other local dealers and then get actual prices from there. This gives you the power to throw numbers back and forth with other dealers. In the long run… Pleasanton was the best price and every other dealer I spoke with said they couldn't match the price. They all told me if I could ge the car for under invoice to do it. Good luck.
  9. Nice. Dig the ground effects. FYI..... I can see your plate number in the 2nd photo. I just wanted to point that out since you blocked out the plates in the firs photo but I can see it in the second one. Thanks for sharing.
  10. I'd pick the stock wheels. I don't think the x-package wheels go with the car. They remind me more of the IS300's.... that's just my opinion. The break dust is a pain either way.
  11. It's still up there. I would suggest you try and talk them into invoice price. I would also do this via internet sales through your local dealers. Try another dealer and let the other dealer know that you are aware of of the invoice price verses MSRP. I would also let the other dealer know up front that you aren't willing to pay MSRP. Once you get one of the dealers to crack the rest will follow.
  12. All I can say is that I wish you luck. If you shop around with the other dealers you should be able to get the best price from on of them. I recently purchased an '07 IS250 with out the Navi and was able to talk down the dealer to $29,500.00. They advised that the invoice price was about $32,000.00 and of course the lovely MSRPwas $35,000.00. My only suggestion is to find one of your local dealers to go lower than the others. Once one tells you a lower price be sure to contact the other dealers and let them know. At that point, I would think the other dealers would then start to battle it out for the sale and thus giving you a better price. I would suggest keeping your communication with the internet sales reps as well. I'm not certain if this is true, but I was told that the internet sales reps are able to go cheaper than the regular sales reps. Good luck. I hope you get what you want!
