  1. +1. I love this feature so much better than the dimming in my Honda Pilot. In "Auto" dimming mode, the nav screen dims if I turn the headlights on--say, if it's snowing or raining.
  2. Wow. I guess you've got lots of $$ socked away to pay for all the raw materials, and subs you may want to hire to help (I just hope it's not in your mattress). And to replace the 50" plasma screen, and all your other "stuff" inside the house? You may be able to do the work for free, but there's usually other significant costs involved. Hopefully, you never have to find out what will happen... Excellent point above about liability--if someone gets hurt on your property, you are paying their claim, and legal fees, yourself. Not to scare the $hit out of you, but this is a headline today. Good luck self insuring this type of liability:
  3. Maybe you didn't read the latest post. Why would you make a claim and pay $500 deductible for the privilege of having your rates ALMOST DOUBLE?? THE $900 piece the insurance company would pay would be lost by the future premium increase, which, as he said, will take a number of years to reduce (ASSUMING no further incidents).
  4. Ok--I think I found the source of my crackling. On the inside part of the hood covering the guages, there are 2 screws. When I press the screw head on the right part of the hood in with my thumb, THAT is where the noise is coming from. Of course, I'm not sure how it would be fixed.
  5. Are you saying "I agree" is a thing of the past? That would be nice. '08s have no "I agree".
  6. You need to hold the button for a few seconds. Can you fully turn it of in an '06? Or is it just the stability that can't be turned off?
  7. I suggest taking it in to the dealer. If you are lucky, they will replace the DVD with the 7.1 version, without the "I Agree" button.
  8. My BlackBerry from work has the phone disabled, but I have the option to get one with a phone. I'm thinking about doing it, but I have almost 2000 contacts in it--would there be a way to transfer only selected contacts, but without doing it one at a time??
  9. I had the dash rattle TSB done a month ago, but I still hear the crackle. Just not as much. Had an '07 IS 250 AWD loaner today--that car had it too.
  10. Well--you might run into a problem with "all" TSBs being done. I'm sure they'll do the brake dust. But, I had my car in for the 5000 mi service. I asked to do the dash rattle TSB, seat squeak TSB and the cranking sound on cold start up TSB. They called me about the seat, said they didn't hear anything, and can't do the TSB unless they encounter the problem. I told them go back and listen again--they heard it. the cranking noise only occurs occasionally, and they didn't hear it, so they wouldn't do the TSB. You may have a similar problem--if you want things done before you even take delivery, you don't know if some problems covered by the TSBs occur in your car.
  11. The fact that the screen shows "A/C" as being on does not mean the car is cooling. The A/C has a dehumidifier, so if there is moisture in the car, even if the temp is set to 80, the A/C will help remove the moisture. You press Auto, you set the temp to the proper temp to heat, and it will heat.
  12. Hi, Mine is the JDM and i couldn't store any music in the HDD. Languages are japanese. How did you manage to get translations??? My dealer told me it could record from a CD but to no avail. Thanks for your input. That's what happens when you listen to the dealer.
  13. None of the US market ISx50's have the HDD. However the JDM version of the IS has a 30G HDD but we are not talking about the Japanese market here. Regards, The HD is only for the Nav. you're not using to store or play music. The nav maps are on a DVD, not a HD.
  14. What built in HDD? Do you have the ML system? Does that have a HD?
  15. Would the brake dust TSB solve the sensitivity of the brakes?
  16. Like Bartkat noted, the IS brochure states that the 17" tires may wear by 20,000 mi, 18" even sooner. BUT, isnt that because they are lower profile tires? I didn't think that meant that they should wear unevenly. If you have been routinely servicing at that dealer, Id at least raise a bit of a stink that they didn't point out ealier that there was uneven wear--it seems odd that all the uneven wear would happen after your 15K service, no?
  17. Are you yelling, or are you trying to help those of us whose eyesight isn't what it used to be. I, for one, would be pretty *BLEEP*ed if you couldn't just replace the glass--but I don't know for sure.
  18. Just did this again tonite in my '07 (dealer must have disconnected the battery last week when my car was in). Worked like a charm. If you can't get it, try holding the odo butotn for 30 seconds.
  19. Did you set a destination? If so, it tells you when a turn is coming up, etc. You may want to eyeball the manual.
  20. There's something I didn't know, but appreciate. When I read that in the FM (nice, by the way), I didn't pick up that it would work with a dead or missing fob battery. I assumed placing the fob by the Start button was simply so that a very weak signal from the fob could be received. There is always some minimal signal that will be transmitted, so if you touch the fob to the Start Button and push, that will start the car. But you would need to use the mechanical key to open the door still.
  21. I think it's pretty hard to compare these 2 cars. A3--more power, German feel and reliability (??), more practicality with the hatch. IS--less power, better quality, small trunk and cargo area. What do YOU want from your car? If top notch reliabilty is key, get the Lexus. If more power and practicality is in order, get the Audi. If you need more power, but not practicality, consider the G35x.
  22. Brought my IS250 in for a few TSBs and for the popping sounds HRCS32a had it right. They told me they know about this and the would removed the dash and insulate. Note this takes a while so they can't do it same day. Popping is still there after 2 visits... This is getting so frustrating!!! I just had the TSB done this week. No popping yesterday, but heard it today. I was surprised they even did the TSB, because it says it's for 2006 only, and cars produced after that date already have the deadening built into the dash.
  23. N/A in U.S. Doubt they'll add it--I don't think the GS has it either.
