  1. After driving my new IS 250 AWD for a week (actually 2007 with 11k but new to me) I'm finding it somewhat difficult to find a comfortable driving position. It seems to me that it is partially due to the gas pedal and what seems like a very long throw and very soft spring resistance in the pedal The first 1/2" or so seems to be very soft and doesn't provide any resistance to your foot....so when I adjust the seat so my foot doesn't rest directly on the pedal, I don't have enough reach to use the full extension of the throttle. On the other hand if the seat is adjusted up then I find it tiring to have to pull my foot completely away from the pedal enough to allow the car to coast. My TSX and MDX don't have this issue. I did a back to back with my TSX and found the spring pressure and throw of the pedal to be just right. Don't get me wrong...I do like this car...the exterior design has to be one of the most beautiful on the road today...just trying to improve my driving experience. Anyone else experience this same issue? Has anyone modified the spring rate on the gas pedal? And if so, how? Any suggestions? (I did a search on this and didn't find any prior threads...sorry if it has been discussed before) Thanks! PS: used info from this forum to change the belt buckle alarm...worked great! also adjusted the doors to unlock all with one touch...great feature!
  2. Thanks for the congrats! The Smoky is very nice...might have got that if I was ordering...but when buying used you don't have a lot of choice. Black is gorgeous but as you said...I may need gallons of detailer and a lot of patience. Bought a big wad of microfibers...looks like I'll need all of them... Thanks to all who replied to my question. I think I'll leave the AFS off...must admit though I don't like the warning light on the dash that reminds you it's off. Also agree with the short distance on the HID's I may need to boost them up a bit...too much on/off with the high beams... The brake dust has reared its dusty head also....know about the TSB thanks to this forum...just need to decide when to take advantage of it...maybe in the Spring....
  3. Hi Folks, Newbie here but also the proud owner of a 2007 IS 250 AWD. I bought the car used with 11K and although just picked up last Friday, enjoying it very much so far. I've driven the last couple days with the AFS on (dark here in NE in early morning) and find it somewhat distracting. On back roads having the lights darting back and forth just feels odd. It certainly sounded like a great feature but now I'm not so sure. Anyone else have this issue or do you get used to it after a while? Thanks in advance, DC PS: waxed/sealed my new baby with Meguire's NXT on Sunday....saw the info here and on the detailing forum....the car looks great...nice product. I still probably need my head examined for buying a black car!
