  1. No spoiler, but is black with tint. Cool side marker lights.
  2. I haven't heard anything unusual. Could it be the wheel catching the mechanism to disengage the turn signal?
  3. Where is the press release? I think many are dying to know what is new for '08.
  4. Is the braking as good as with the original pads? I'm also getting sick of the amount of dust, I have asked the dealer and he says they don't know of different pads for this problem, and suggested if there were, they wouldn't be as good. As I'm in Aus I may need to bring the TSB from Lexus US to their attention and see what they can find out for me. It's not quite as "sticky" as the original pads, but I always considered the original pads to be a tad bit too much (it was hard to stop smoothly). The new pads are perfect behaving, IMHO. From what I've read here, and on other boards, everyone that has had the replacement has been pleased. When it comes time to replace those ceramic pads, how does the cost compare to the originals?
  5. Get what YOU like--not what your friends or a bunch of obsessed nuts like us like... Well, it seems like "what I like" changes all the time :D First, I thought I won't need a spoiler. I didn't even notice with or without. It's a very subtle spoiler. Then, after seeing cars WITH spoiler at the dealership, I started feeling it's better to have it. Now if I see a car without it, it looks something is missing. Then, I saw a Matador red without spoiler, I didn't even remember if it did or didn't have (maybe because the color stands out more that I didn't pay attention to the rear.) So I thought maybe I'm just throwing a few hundred dollars for nothing if I order it. So I thought I'd ask those obsessed nuts ppl like you ;) hehe... you are funny. I would not get it--but, I'll admit that it's the first non-factory installed spoiler that I think actually looks decent, and not cheesy. Usually, the dealer/port installed spoilers look silly because they just disconnect the high-mount brake light, and plug in the spoiler brake light--so you have this brake light in your rear window that's non-functional. It totally looks like an afterthought. The IS spoiler is subtle enough that it's not an issue. If they had one on the lot, that had all other options I wanted, and I could work a deal, I'd live with one. But I wouldn't order it that way.
  6. You can on other Lexus models, but not the IS, which makes it one of the biggest oversights on the car. I love having it (I got the nav). If they are smart, they'll change that as a stand alone option (or standard) for '08.

  8. Its there, dude. It must be flipped to the off position.
  9. I had a similar problem with my Infiniti dealer. I had 3 to choose from... the closest being 2 hrs away. I visited once for my testdrive and a month later, everything was done over the phone. (Even the down payment was a payment by phone) The only time I had to go there again was to pick the car up. It was actually a breeze, and I see no reason why your Lexus dealer can't do that for you. Good luck! I spoke to 9 different dealers--one which was 9 hours away. Once you test drive, you just need to go to pick up the car. You definitely want to try at least 1 large volume dealer. I talked to one 2 hrs away, and I would have bought there, but a local guy beat his offer. With telephone and email, you should not be limited by those physically closest to you.
  10. As to the TSIB, why why why would you listen to the salesman? Call service dept (some of THEM don't even know about it). As to the armrest, sounds like he's just making sh** up.
  11. Why don't you have the same complaints w/the the gray interior with Tungsten? I would think that the tint making the gray look more like beige would be a bigger issue with a silver exterior. [i note that Tungsten/Sterling is my color combo, and I think it's great]
  12. Why wouldn't you just have the dealer do it for free under the TSIB? IS_Brake_Dust_TSIB.pdf
  13. Ok, but does Lexus even make the base model? The lowest base I've seen is an Auto, no nav and the PT package (vented seats) and the 18 inch wheel packages. I could handle buying the PT package, but I dont want the 18 wheels due to cost and cost of replacement tires in thats size. You are contemplating purchasing a sports sedan for $32-34K, and what gives you pause is having to spend an extra $400 when you need to replace the tires? Also--there's nothing that requires you to buy OEM replacement tires; you can always look for something cheaper then.
  14. From everything I have read, I thought IS's were going for UNDER invoice in SoCal?
  15. Nav is similar to Honda's--you see your car on screen if no route is selected. You can do lots of things with the nav screen while driving--zoom, change settings and POI, you just cant enter an address. As to the Geico warranty, get a copy of it. With a $250 deductible, and I'll bet a long list of exclusions, you are going to need something MAJOR to happen for that to pay off. I had a Honda factory extended warranty on my TL. They replaced the seat heater that went bad, and maybe one other thing that I can't remember (which never could have been $250). They would not replace the auto dimming mirror, which stopped dimming. I called Honda Finance corporate to argue the point, and they said it's a mirror, and mirrors are excluded. Even though there was nothing wrong with the glass--it was the electronics/fluid inside the mirror (the dealer agreed with me, and comp'ed me the part). It was totally not worth it (even with only a $50 deductible). There's no way I'd ever get an extended warranty with a $250 deductible--that's why it's only $22/month. The actuaries have figured out that they are unlikely to lose out on this proposition.
  16. I also find that the dash reading of MPG isn't totally acurate. When I fill up, and divide my Trip OD miles by the number of gallons I fill, it's usually 1-1.5 MPG lower than what the car says, to the miles to empty reading may also be thrown off if the MPG readings are off.
  17. Go to LEXUS.COM and look at the colors on there site... better than not seeing at all hey? This will not do it justice--I don't think you want to buy one in that color solely based on the (airbrushed) pix on Lexus.com
  18. I would call #4 a major defect covered by warranty, not a "pet peeve". I guess with all of the "nav hack" threads, I should have know that "not working" meant "working fine." Didn't you read all of the forums before you bought the car? This can't really come as a surprise? I'm actually pleasantly surprised--I thought with all these hacks, and people dismantling their dash, that the screen froze while you drove, and you couldn't do anything. How often do you really need to input an address while driving? Take 2 minutes and do it before you go. Personally, I'm nore concerned that the Audio screen won't give my my "Message" about the station/song playing while driving.
  19. so you are paying even more for it because of interest. not good. Good point. You don't need the extended warranty for another 4 years--save up the $22 a month for yourself.
  20. I would call #4 a major defect covered by warranty, not a "pet peeve".
  21. The longer you stretch it out, the worse deal it becomes, with interest charges. Do you really want to strech yourself that much. Bankrate.com, and tons of other financial websites that you can use to calculate montly payments and total payments.
  22. Looks great. I had multiple dealers trying to find that combo PLUS Lux Pkg in PA/NJ/DE. They couldn't do it--the only 2 they found were spoken for by special order.
  23. Take $1300 and put it in a CD or other low risk investment. If you have repair (after 4 years of the initial warranty), you have money available to pay for it. If you don't, you keep the $$.
