I don't really consider a 4k rpm downshift a hard downshift. I think you may have been a bit surprised by it, or maybe not used to it, but there are conditions in which the car is programmed to help braking by downshifting. If you switch to the power mode, accelerate up to speed and then use the brakes to scrub away some speed and you'll see what I mean. The downshifting is much more pernounced and the car uses those to help with slowing down. And if you press the accelerator to hold rpm's at this point, the car does, and won't shift until you press the accelerator and gain enouph rpm's. So it can just hold the gear for you. Even though your not in the sport mode, the car will still do it, it just doesn't emphasize it as much.

The GTR is a bad boy from emblem to tailpipe. BUt it's going to be an 80K car!! You can get 2 IS350's for that! But, if I were going to spending 80K on a car, I would seriously look at this car. Under 45K though, the IS 350 is king.

No, I mean if you want to buy some undercoating from your local automotive store and spray that spot you can, but I don't think it should be necassary. Even though this is your first scrape, I would bet it won't be the last. Undercoating should only cost about 2 or 3 dollars. Don't get it on the pipe though, it will just burn it over time. Maybe as time goes by just keep an eye on it and see if rust developes.

I don't think of it as an insult. The ES is designed for a different feel and type of driver needs. I've driven the ES a few times as well, and if you were looking for that type of ride and comfort, then the ES fits that bill very well. But some of us like the sportier, tighter, point and shoot feeling of the IS. ANd even though you have the 250, the sport feel is still very nice in the suspension and handling. ANd I think the IS got the best tail lights and IMO, has the best lines and size for the design. And I think the LS is super nice looking also, but way to big of a car for me.

Did A Burnout In My Is300 And It Broke :( How?
smooth1 replied to larful's topic in 01 - 06 Lexus IS300
You can get a locked stock tc, or just get another stock tc for around $400.00. If your not adding a bunch of hp and torque then a stock one is fine. You should be able to get a used one for around 250-300 bucks. -
Well, congrats on completing the steps to purchase a new car. Thinking you were going home in a new IS250!!!! NOT!! LOL!! MAn that must have been tough! I know I wouldn't have been happy, but then, you want what you want, and the car is worth waiting for, so..... And Welcome to the LOC. :)

Welcome to the LOC! Sounds to me as if you should be fine, nothing to worry about.

The high pressure fuel pump mounted on the valve cover (cam lobe driven) makes a loud ticking. The high pressure injectors also make a more obvious click than standard injectors. Gas engines work by pulling a mixture of fuel and air into a cylinder, compressing it with a piston, and igniting it with a spark that results in an explosion that drives the piston downwards, producing power. Traditional fuel injection systems pre-mix the gasoline and air in a chamber just outside the cylinder called the intake manifold. In a direct-injection system, the air and gasoline are not pre-mixed, air comes in via the intake manifold, while the gasoline is injected directly into the cylinder. Advantages of direct fuel injection Combined with ultra-precise computer management, direct injection allows more precise control over fuel metering (the amount of fuel injected) and injection timing (exactly when the fuel is introduced into the cylinder). The location of the injector also allows for a more optimal spray pattern that breaks the gasoline up into smaller droplets. The result is more complete combustion -- in other words, more power from each drop of gasoline. Also in light load conditions it can help lean out the mixture better, and during heavy acceleration, it can spary the fuel in later during the compression stroke to better disperse the fuel and optimize power delivery. Disadvantages of direct fuel injection The primary disadvantages of direct injection engines are complexity and cost. Direct injection systems are more expensive to build because their components must be more rugged -- they handle fuel at significantly higher pressures than indirect injection systems and the injectors themselves must be able to withstand the heat and pressure of combustion inside the cylinder. How much more powerful and efficient is direct injection? Cadillac sells the CTS with both indirect and direct injection versions of its 3.6 liter V6 engine. The indirect engine produces 263 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, while the direct version develops 304 hp and 274 lb-ft. Despite the additional power, EPA fuel economy estimates for the direct injection engine are 1 MPG higher in the city (18 MPG vs 17 MPG) and equal on the highway. All the major car mfgrs are now looking at direct injection, and should be coming on board over the next few years. Ford has already announced a direct fuel injection system for the F-150 and a turbo charged version with direct injection also. Diesels and direct fuel injection Virtually all diesel engines use direct fuel injection. However, because diesels use a different process to combust their fuel (gasoline engines compress a mixture of gasoline and air and ignite it with a spark; diesels compress air only, then spray in fuel which is ignited by the heat and pressure), their injection systems differ in design and operation from gasoline direct fuel injection systems.

I'm going to hit balls this afternoon. I generally parctice 3 or 4 times a week, and play 1 or sometimes twice a week. Rya, if you want to improve fast, keep a club in your hand as much as you can. Get used to having it in your hand, like around the house. In the back yard, just swing the club in the grass without a golf ball. You can get to caught up in trying to hit the ball, and forget to just concentrate on making a good swing. Really practice just sweeping the grass with the head of the golf club. That will help you get used to having the club in your hand, and help improve just making conact with the ball. Then after that, go to a driving range and get a small bucket and just practice hitting those for awhile.

The Great Oil Change Discussion

Your probably right. -
Just to update this, I was talking to someone who works at Vaitech, and thier new SL2VI will play videos off your ipod also now. I guess it's either just coming out now, or will be out in the next few weeks. And if you bought a Vaitech already and want the upgrade, you can get (buy), the upgrade without having to purchase a whole new unit. I have been looking into this and I think this is the way I am going to go. click me

Welcome to the LOC. Good choice of car! ;) About the gas thing. You should do a search first. We have really hammered this subject. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...&hl=premium -
I thought it was pretty easy to see the IS 350 is best car in this range if your looking for a performance sedan. There really are only a few. The IS 350, Acura TLS, BMW 3 Series, MB C class, Infinity G37 sedan, ( but everyone includes the coupe also.), Audi A4, Jaguar X-type, Saab 9-3,and maybe stretch the Volvo S60 in there.

Oh, I know they exsist. I wasn't laughing at that, I was more laughing at the fact that they do! I know, I know, everyone has an interest and there is a forum for it. http://reg.startrek.com/registration/startrek/reg.jsp I would get one, well, honestly not, but I would have another bike on the street if it wasn't for all the crazy luxury car drivers acting like complete maniacs on the road, full throttle everywhere as if the price of gas doesn't even bother them! -

Yeah, I think you just blew pressure line, probably at the seal. You probably were going to loose that line later at some point anyway. I don't think your burnout is what caused it, as much as just exposed it. -

I remember laughing at the gas gauge in my 69' Camaro back in the 80's. I had just rebuilt the car into a street rod. It had a 396 big block, and when you stood on the gas pedal, you could watch the gas gauge drop! :o I think I was getting like 6 mpg. on C16!! Sure glad I don't have that today! -
Yeah, in fact I think there is an ad on the browser here that links to EBAY just for lights at the bottom. I'm sure Ebay will have like 450 million lights to choose from.
