  1. Ok, so this person I know has been working on his ride for a really long time. I mean atleast a few years. Everytime he has a few extra dollars, they go into his car. Turbo, intercooler, body kit, the works. One day, he decides he wants to take it out and learn to drift with it. So, he goes to a track, and sets it all up, with a large space and plenty of pavement. So, he gets all set up, starts the car, and gets the video rolling, and : That was his first run.
  2. Oh yeah, I liked it! I was just making sure I was looking at the right video! I kept wondering how they made that walkway! And there is no way I would walk on that thing like the guy taking the video did! I kept waiting for the video to just start rolling end over end and see an arm or a leg flail by the camera lense!
  3. Ok, I got a video of a guy walking down this sidewalk along the cliff line. Looked pretty scary from the holes and deteration. Is that the right one?
  4. I had the TSB brake pad change done as well on the 08' IS 350. They did use the GS pads, and the brake dust is easily 90% better. And I haven't noticed any difference in braking performance.
  5. I'm confused with your question. Are you asking what is the largest diameter or the widest tread ? There are people here who have put 20's on. I think just beacuse you can, doesn't mean you should. BUt to each thier own. I think 18's are perfect. And as for width, 9 inches to 9.5 inches are the widest, depending on your offset, without shaving and rolling your fenders. But you do shave and/or roll, then 10.5 are the widest I have seen.
  6. Probably just brake dust. Maybe pull the pads and clean behind them and put some anti squeal goop on the back side. But it could also be inferior brake pads. Maybe consider some ceramic pads from EBC or non-metallics. It's allways the front. The rear tires are just not that effective in braking distance. In fact, the rear brakes are more to keep the car leveled and counter weighted then to perfrom stopping duties. I would say it's 70% front stopping power to 30% rear. 176-203 degrees is the coolant temp. ATF should be around 180 degrees. That gauge is useless anyway. It's at zero because your foot is floored on the gas pedal, and pegged at 80 cause your foot is now off the gas pedal. :) It should be around 750 rpm. 500 rpm is a bit low. But the idle is controlled by the ECU and isn't really adjustable. You may need to clean the MAF and throttlebody out. Also make sure all your vacuume lines are good. you should get somwhere near that unless you drive it like a Formula 1 everywhere.
  7. Yeah, pretty much. We were never able to establish a board and go thru the process to work out it all out.
  8. Heeeyyy, the link doesn't work. It says site under construction!
  9. Polishing glass can be done. I have a powder that you mix with water and you use a buffing wheel on it. You have to be very careful with it though, as you can make a small chip or scratch a big visual defraction very quickly. I got it from a glass and mirror mfgr. here in town. It's what they use to polish out mirrors and glass and the edgework. I haven't used it on a windshield, but I did save some for just for that purpose in the future.
  10. I turned mine off 3 days after I got it. And the voice guidance also. MAn is that annoying!
  11. Barney Miller
  12. Heck, the way I see it is they didn't have the car when originally promised, so they should have just thrown that in also for free. You got robbed man!
  13. Happy Birthday!! :D
  14. I think at some point you have to determine where the sacrifice line is. In my opinion, right around the 30K is that line. Under 30K I feel I am making sacrifices, or having to decide what is more important, and what isn't so, and then letting which car fit that be the real determining factor. Once you get over that line, I don't think I'm sacrificing anywhere near as much. Under 30K I kept finding myself saying " It's nice, but not enouph power", or "Lots of power, but it rides terrible, and lacks all the refinements." It isn't until you get to that 30K + mark that you start seeing cars with enouph power, and all the refinements, and class, and all the other amenities. That's why I don't think I over spent in the least. In fact, I think this area is where Lexus excels. You get alot more car for what 5-10K more than a premium Honda, Toyota, Nissan.
  15. I've also seen the spray that you put on the plate directly. I haven't examined the product, but it looks to be a can of high gloss clear enamyl or polyurathane.
  16. Here in Florida, they are just coming on board with the whole camera on the tag, and being able to issue a ticket via that means. Until now, and as far as I am aware, they still do not issue tickets via camera cops. I know they are working out the bugs now an are dealing with all the how to's and so on. I do have a plexi cover on my tag now, and it is tinted, like a smoked grey color, and I have a chrome plate cover around that. I have never had any issues. I allways get followed by a cop coming thru some heavy patrol areas like Metro West and few other areas. Is the law you quoted a law of the land or regulated by individual states? I never even thought about it, as I think about it now, I think I have had a smoked plexi cover on my plate for the last few years and have never had anyone say anything about it. I know that the toll roads are clamping down on the liscense plate thing as that's how alot of them charge you now for Sun Pass, ( An automated toll system here in Florida.) But I think they can inly go as far as the police enforce it.
  17. It's funny you bring this up. My family and I have joked at this very question many times. And our general consensus was Lexus for singular and plural. :) But when I see 3 more Lexus running in a group on the road, I allways call it a pack of Lexi. LOL!!
  18. Reducing knock is the first hurdle to producung a more powerful motor while not sacrificing fuel mileage. As you advance the timing and increase compression ratio's, you have to have a fuel that can resist pre-detonation better. That's also why direct injection can extract more hp out of the engine, by delaying the amount time the fuel is introduced, and controlling more presicely when the detonation occurs. Like the instant the piston peaks and is on the way back down. That's why you allways see more powerful motors use higher octane fuels.
  19. I've lowered alot of cars, and I have scraped more than a fair amount of them. IT sounds alot more terrible then it really is. For it to be bad enouph for a real repair, I would say you would have to see significant torn metal or a hole, or welds that have been ripped apart or cracked. Other than that, I'm sure your ok.
  20. Weenie Hanger (that is a real position on the Oscar Meyer hot dog line.) :)
