  1. Most are only $65. down here in Dixie---but maybe I should consider--have 165k and I don't know if it was ever done. SO--hold on any request until after June 1st---I need to figure which bank to rob....(joke)
  2. Got coupon in mail today. Rice Toyota will change the Timing Belt for that thru June 5th. Will probably NOT get mine done even tho I should. If anyone wants to do this, PM me for the coupon. Note this is the largest Toyota dealer in NC--with excellent rep.
  3. be sure and check out antenna mast remove/install instructions on LS gallery pg 25; you need to know what buttons to push/when. YB---let us know how you like the e-bay antenna mast.
  4. Den--suggest you gunk your engine and go to a car wash to clean it up; then make sure the ps fluid level is correct ;then I would wind it up close to your house in a low gear to try to duplicate the smoking---then I would go back to your house and try to find out what is happening and where it is coming from !! do this on an afternoon--not at night. anyway--you have to remove the ps pump to replace the gasket between the pump and resesvoir.----I would replace the pump (autozone) if I had to do this--it is complete w/resev. I am running an autozone one-and am extremely happy--knock on wood. Note that everyone has an opinion on what to do and this is just mine. :D
  5. Belated, but: don't know anymore about the 'stock' 2003 chrome 18" wheels--got pix off internet; assume they are stock Lexus--if so, you probably wouldn't want to know the price !!!!
  6. didn't mean to infer that we are out-of-pocket that much---most all was paid for by insurance.
  7. really, all I know is that mine does; you need to get other responses on this-- but get a bare wire and tape it to your antenna when it is up--make it 8" longer than what it is now-----I am assuming that yours will only go to 29 1/2" which is the FM. See if that makes a difference. here is how it works: when you turn the switch on and the radio is on and is on FM, the antenna will go all the way up then will back down to the FM length. If you then hit AM, it will go all the way out. Radio shack use to carry a RF amp that went between the radio and the antenna{assuming you have motorola connecters}; you might could put in the trunk. If you get and try--be sure and keep the receipt--it might not work. keep in mind that my AM ain't no good either. not like my truck and other things.
  8. here is the one you should get--'04 w/sports pkg. :D
  9. Can't believe you have it in the shop already--took 2 months for the shop to get parts for mine. Also, you have to get paid for a rental car for the duration of the shop estimate--even tho you DO NOT rent a car. another pix of the rear bottom:
  10. Forgot to say--my wife had two rods and a metal plate put in her back(2 months later) from just this little bit of damage---Bills thus far are over $60,000. There is a lawsuit in progress. Say that to say this: do not settle the med.; also suggest you(or whoever was in it) to go get a MRI of your total spine and neck. Just one spur will give you big, big problems maybe 15 years from now. Your legs will get numb and you will wonder why. The med payment can come from your med on your ins.; or who hit you insurance, or your co insurance. but go get it to be smart.
  11. It will be a TOTAL !!!!! Mine got rearended last Aug and you could hardly tell it without looking close and it was over $6800 to repair !!!!!!!! If I knew how to put a pix in this message I would--guess I will do an attachment---anyway just the exhaust system was $1700.
  12. I would think a warped rotor-but doesn't take any time to clamp on a dial micrometer !! someone who knows how do a poll on how far you can push your ft fender down---got my curiosity up.
  13. Roy--do you think it might be the KYB struts---I don't think I could make mine go down 1" if I weighed 300# !!!! SERIOUSLY. Or may be difference in '93 vs '99?? Have a 70 BMW2800cs that will not move--like jumping on a concrete floor--it has Bilsteins.
  14. If you can push your car down more than 1/8"-1/4", then the strut is bad or you weigh too much!!!! :D I weigh 180# and mine is almost rock solid, without movement --on a concrete driveway.
  15. Note that the steering does have a steering dampner on it---shock absorber !!!
  16. suggest you make cover for alt. before installing; certainly if you aren't going to replace the leaking PS pump for awhile. shown pg 21 of LS gallery.
  17. forgot: remember that just about any wrecking yard can get any part from any other wrecking yard in the USA; this is the way body shops get parts to repair autos with--parts generally aren't in their back yard. the wrecking yard will put the request out, will find it, tell you the condition, price, and shipping cost-----!!! Can't beat that-----don't buy new--there isn't enough money in the world. it is called 'HotLine'
  18. I just wonder if you guys live in the same neighborhood???????
  19. dhm--if I had to do it again I would probably go stock. As I recall, after the installation I was at a dealer and asked the price of their shocks---they were !/2 the price of the KYB---and that was without looking for a deal on line[ irontoad.com ]; or at a Toyota dealer, etc. I am sure that they are not twice as good as stock---which could be the very same thing in disguise !!!!
  20. Are you saying that the antenna-cable connection might have corrosion and by disconnecting it and reconnecting then the reception is better??? Think I would definitely concur that without the antenna connected you won't get AM; FM either for that matter. But, to clean the cable-radio connection the dash 'might have to come out' !!!!!! That would be tough. Haven't checked to see if it has a screw-on connection like some euro systems have or if it is a 1940's motorola connection [like most].
  21. You need to remove a caliper and check the shims. only 2 bolts hold on--use a 17mm(open) and a 14mm(whatever)--you are removing the 14mm bolt, not the one with the rubber on it. Make sure that the shims [stainless steel] are bent such as to hold the pad extensions tight. You could use pliers to bend these spring tabs out to hold the pad tighter. If you are missing one shim, tough ****; since you will have to buy the whole 'store'--the whole set--not too cheap either.
  22. AM is not good on these cars!!!!!! Something you do need to know is that the antenna will extend 8" longer when you switch from FM to AM; this to approximate 1/4 wave lengths for reception purposes?. If yours is not extending, it would degrade reception on AM.
  23. You mean KYB not syb; anyway, I installed KYB on mine several years ago; I thought at the time that only one shock would fit--G2b??? don't know. Also at that time I wanted Bilstein but was told they were not made for Lexus. Didn't like it because I was a former BMW guy--still have a 1959 Bimmer!! Anyway, I like the KYB; not too hard-not too soft; curious about Bilstein being made--would assume they would be much harder based on my earlier experience.
  24. Another thought: disconnect the battery for about 5 min; maybe the ECU needs returned to default.
  25. Note that the solenoid has a metal filter screen on the end that needs blown-off with a air hose ever so often. But don't know if it was completely stopped up, would the system be like yours. You remove the solenoid with a sharp chisel on the metal shoulder[this is a normal thread-ccw to remove].
