  1. You can also use a suction gun--about 12" long-2 1/2 " dia.
  2. Solenoid is located on the bottom left side(sort-of), on front, tilted slightly down. Don't think you can see from the top side. Small screen is on the end where it is screwed in. Chisel is required to start the thing unscrewing. Would NOT mess with it unless you are having a problem, changing the PS pump , or changing the fluid. I cleaned the screen after the PS installation-- but have a lift.
  3. Have R12a in 3 autos! You do not need to remove or change oil but you do need to pull a vacuum on system--not compatible with R12 or 134--cannot mix!!![not in the LS400 since it was already 134!!!] site on 12a: http://www.maxifrig.com/
  4. Can't understand the filter anyway?? A screen is in the resv. and a screen is on the solenoid valve. Are you sure you are not pole-vaulting over rat-tur_s??? :D
  5. (Neighbor)--I haven't ever not used it. Don't know about the battery--there is a blinking red lite; would think it would take weeks or months to run the battery down. The most I have let it set was about a week and it did allright after that.
  6. The number at the Autozone[Randleman Rd, Greensboro,NC] is 336-272-3510. Where I got mine in Dec. The part # on the invoice is posted above; it is the rebuilt pump WITH reservoir !!! Not sure about the name ATSCO--don't know what that is--it is not on the invoice. The listing on the invoice is "IMP POWER STEERING". All you ask for is a rebuilt power steering pump for your LS400.
  7. stock # is : 061141-5175 cost $104.99 w/ $40. core charge item was in stock. bought DEC 2003---4 1/2 months ago would not recommend getting one w/o the resv.
  8. got mine from a dealer but try irontoad.com and others; also a big Toyota dealer!! Let your fingers do the walking!!! If you do your own work, they will pay for themselves probably on the first job. Grats on the auto.
  9. My suggestion is to 'wait a while' !!!!! You had the rotors turned and did not install new pads--thus pads aren't seated yet. Rotors should not be rough !!!!! unless you are rubbing in a axial direction with your fingernail. New rotors are 'lapped'--not rough. Could be the shop was using dull cutters and they were 'chattering'--that will rough it up. maybe they will smooth out. just wait about 400-500 miles and see what happens. Rotors are only worn out when they go below min thickness. Heed the torque comment. If it continues, then bite-the-bullet and get new rotors. Don't think you need a battleship anchor for a fishing boat--unless you race the thing!!!!!! Mine are original with 165k---but whenever they shutter again-it is new ones for me.
  10. CW--where did you get the '97 for such a good price-carmax,dealer,indiv.???? maybe I need to shop hotlanta next time--even tho I would have to pay taxes coming back across the line. yes, double taxes-there and here[unless an individual seller]
  11. Is this the whole thing, elec. motor, mast, etc ???? Or just the mast?? The mast at MY dealer was around $60. Tks to wife I have bought two.
  12. be sure and clean where the crack is--nothing will stick on Armarol. Also use 220 grit(or so) sandpaper + solvent.
  13. maybe the rt caliper is stuck[or hose is collapsed on the inside-disk can't release] causing drag on that wheel. This can happen. Again-good luck; let us all know what you find out.
  14. Go to a store and buy GOOP[clear sealer/adhesive]---it is absolutely awesome!!!! Patch the leak and save money--the only way the patch will come off is difficultly with a razor blade.
  15. remember just like pads: steel comes in many grades--%chrome,% iron,%carbon,% whatever--some wear, some don't wear. Do remember one thing from about 15 years ago; took BMW rotors to get turned and the shop had to put new carbide angle cutters in the machine before they could turn the rotors---the old cutters just chattered; the guy said he had never seen any rotor so hard. TRUE. Guys--this was BEFORE Lexus !!! SO.........we need some usage reports on these low-dollar rotors.
  16. thunder--forget the Maxifrig--You already have 134A; had to look back on an old post to see what year LS you had --'94!!!! thought maybe you were converting also.
  17. $1000 for a brake job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They must change the brake fluid also !!????? How nice. I get sick just seeing all the prices folks post----ignorance would be bliss.
  18. Here is price I got a moment ago. interesting--a 'broker' ----dropships directly from Raysbestos !!!! Anyone else tried these; Raybestos probably gets them from off-shore, but isn't that where the OEM comes from !!! "Quote for 1993 Lexus 400 Allsafe manufactured by raybestos in the USA. Front Rotors $25.50ea Rear Rotors $21.50ea Front Pads $28.95 Rear Pads $25.95 Rotors and pads will drop ship by ground from Raybestos via UPS.Items in most cases ship the next day.Plus shipping charges, email zip code usually $30.00 Scott allhorsepower.com You wrote: Plse quote for 1993 Lexus LS400. Do you have undrilled rotors?? Availability??tks Richard "
  19. one thing: 134A shouldn't be over $10. go on line to price parts: www.irontoad.com and others also why not go to an A/C repair shop and get prices---a Lexus is no different than something else !!!! most of the time the compressors are generic. other words look around.
  20. Have a dial micrometer clamped on each side first; max rotor runout is 0.05mm or 0.002 inch. If they are in spec, you are just throwing your money away !!!! All brake shops should have micrometers, go and ask price first--do not go to a Lexus dealer---they would probably want to SELL you new rotors before looking at them !!!!! Make sure they torque wheels to around 80 '# ; NOT to run nuts up with impact wrench !!!
  21. another 'junk yard' service that selects Lexus ones [by part requested] closest to your zip code: http://www.mypartshop.com/
  22. on this 3 page thing, it does say Lexus 92-97 at 60k for belt; 98 up at 90k. what really gets me is the milage service---almost NOTHING is done and it is 399 for 92-98 and 599 for 98 up. Oh, they do inspect lots of things--replace some fluids and service the battery--HAHA--man, is that a big rip off. oh, forgot--balance and rotate tires--big deal. I haven't changed the fuel filter but will soon--I have an Autolifter--so service on the bottom is 'standing up'.---built my garage 12' to the ceiling when I did it. Roy--note this is a Toyota dealer not a Lexus dealer--goodness knows what they would want--I don't plan to find out !!!!
