  1. Checked vol1 of manual: Did not say specifically about fuel filter but for other components: every 36000 miles.
  2. Hi, At 4:30 / 4:35pm today, my son parked the 91 LS at a garage and somebody smashed the passenger side front light (main + side) to bits ! Does anybody know where to get cheap one? Thanks VH
  3. Will look up my workshop manual tonite and let you know. Hello: Do you know at which mileage are they supposed to be changed, in accordance with the Lexus manuals? C ←
  4. Hi, Last night, I changed my son's 91 LS400 fuel filter according to lexls.com instructions. I may add that it would be much easier to undo the 2 bolts that attach the filter to the frame and also undo the bolt of the bracket that wraps around the filter. It is because with these bolts loosened up first, it is much easier to unscrew and screw the filter. I got onto ALLDATA website and found out that you can disconnect the fuel pump from the trunk and stop the gas flowing thru the fuel line at the filter.
  5. My 91 turns the lights off when the ignition key is off. My son kept leaving the lights on and I know this when turn the ignition on.
  6. Hi, Try a few simple things first: Check if battery posts are really really tight and no corrosion on them.
  7. Yes, they both were taught by myself and another friend who retired from teaching at driving school. My second son kept saying: Dad, you keep repeating... You made me more nervous.... Guess what: First time out, he wrecked the car !!!! Is there a record time of a new licensee wrecking the car ?
  8. Thank you all for your replies. Yes, I am glad that both my sons are ok. The car will be replaced (we will find out tomorrow when the adjuster looks at it) My 2nd son said to me: Dad, I will pay for it with my allowances !!! :( I told my first son that he was partly to blame because it was his car and he hit the speed sign within 3 days of getting his license so he should have known :chairshot: I was a bit upset because I have trying to keep the car in good condition (in and out; mechanically and appearance) VH 03 X5 4.4 99 ML320 91 LS400 92 Prelude 4WS Si 91 Galant LS
  9. Do you smell gas? Is there a leak ?
  10. Just got back from 2 body shops: Need to contact insurance. The car may be totalled due to lots of bending underneath (frame, crossbar, tie rod, etc...) :chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot: :chairshot:
  11. Hi, 1st day after getting his license, my 17 year old son hit the island. The steering wheel is wobbly and felt loose. The driver side custom wheel is badly scratched. What should I do? I had a look under and there seems to be no visible damage. Thanks Vh 91 LS400 PS: My 18 year hit a speed sign on his first day when he got his license (danaged bumper and OEM wheel) !!! :chairshot:
  12. Hi, I think that if you can get a wiring diagram, it will show all the wiring, their colors, and where they are connected.
  13. Hi, If you buy used, would you consider CPO or from private? A new car has all the warranties. You need peace of mind in all your travelling miles.
  14. If the tube (covered with a rubber hose) coming out at the bottom of the throttle body is bent slightly and the rubber hose is cracked, does it matter?
  15. Hi, I am currently trying (in 90 degrees heat)" 1. Retrieval claw ($7 from Home Depot) 2. Also, may try Shop-Vac (having trouble finding 1 in. flexible hose) Wish me luck ! PS: Lexus dealer will charge me $280 + tax to get it off the intake chamber :cries: ← SUCCESS !!! The mechanic claw did it hands down. 17. No, I cannot see the rag. I am SURE that it is now inside the air intake chamber. I need all the help I can get. I have just been told that when things are put back together, all the bolts need to be at right torque !!! Oh my lord !!!!
  18. Thanks for replying. 1. What is Total Recall? 2. If I push it, would it hurt the engine internal if engine parts moving around with the cloth inside it?
  19. Hi, Does anybody know how to remove the air intake chamber without unhooking a lot of things for 91 LS400? I hope by doing this, I can get to the cloth that fell down off the throttle body when I tried to clean it ! Thanks VH
  20. Hi, Silly me :chairshot: I was cleaning the throttle body and the cloth fell doen the engine. Can somebody in Minneapolis help me? Can I push the car so that I can close the garage? Thanks VH
  21. Hi, If it's true, you may have got the best deal so far for this gen. Where did you get the emblem and the reverse sensors? Easy to install them ? Thanks VH 91 LS400
  22. Thanks for all your replies. I will try the grease and report back. I will also approach the service dept. as well. What a bunch of good folks out there VH
  23. Hi, My son's 91 LS400 (145K) has developed the following problem since winter and I thought with the warmer weather, it would go away but not so: When we pull into the gas station to fill up, no matter what we try (leaving the key in all ignition positions; taking the key out, leave the engine running), when we pull the gas filler lever to open the filler lid, the lid does NOT open. it has only been opening haphazardly after: 1. banging on the lid 2. pulling the gas filler lever inside the car I am worried that one day, it will give up altogether and we cannot fill up !!! Any thoughts? TIA VH
  24. Sorry, my fault. See link: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=8127&
  25. I got the D1 from Toyota dealer. Apparently, I've read somewhere that the manufacturing of the filter changed country ? quote=blake918,Mar 10 2005, 08:04 PM] This morning I had my oil changed at the local Toyota dealer(the nearest Lexus dealer is 80 miles away, and I've heard enough horror stories about Jiffy Lube to never to set foot there.); I usually do the oil changes myself, but I don't have the space and tools to do it here at the university. I dropped the car, and it was ready shortly after. When I returned, I looked at the recipt, and it shows that they put a Toyota 90915-YZZD1 filter on my car. Lexls's(I know he has a '91, but it has a 1uzfe) site and Irontoad's site both show a 90915-YZZD3 for the LS. Is the D1 the worng filter, and if so, do I need to go back and yell at them and have them put the correct filter on as to avoid any damages? I put about 150 miles on the car this morning, and all seemed well. <_< What do yall think? ←
