  1. And why do we need laser jammers? CD I can understand making some mods but changing a grill for laser jammers? I don't think the grill looks any better but your car it's your choice. Just to let you know when I was 17 I had a 5.0 ford mustang gt sweet car it would fly. My grandfather was a retired state trooper and he saw a radar/laser detector in the car. He said you know if you get pulled you will get a ticket just because you have that. Not because they are illegal but because the police see it as you are intentionaly speeding. Me a know it all kept it. Got nailed 2 times, guess what I have not used that thing in forever and guess what no tickets. Been stopped a few times got warnings. Do you "need" laser jammers man you are 20 years old.
  2. I am sick of all of them. SW sorry man he scares the hell out of me. I think he is all for big govt. And sorry but our politicians are out of touch. Nancy, Barney and the rest of them need to go. These career politicians are the problem. Term limits is my answer. I could keep going but my blood pressure is getting elevated. People need to wake the hell up. And yes the man could read well anything well. Also I do think some of the "friends" that he has had are real great like his pastor. If he was a white and had a white pastor that said the same types of comments he would not be our president. Because that man is a raciest. People just were so sick of Bush they would have voted uh let's see somebody that can talk well in office and not know anything about him. The man has got a tough job and I respect him and do not envy his position but I am not happy about much that he has done. :) and gas is going back up so now who the hell are the idiots going to blame bush or !Removed!? Demand is down at least when bush was in global demand was up. Just a FYI typed on iPhone. I will more than likely have to pay a tax for that soon. Ha ha :)
  3. Hey enjoy your ride. I am not trying to bust your balls. We all are just sharing our points of view. I am sure that you are a good kid and I bet you will do great later in life. SW and I have gotten in to it a time or two about things on here and I don't agree with everything that he says on here but I still have learned quite a bit by reading his post. Sometimes you can learn the most from people you disagree with. :)
  4. NC... join the club bud. My little man is 19 months...and I got another one on the way. Will find out this weekend if it will be another boy or girl. That diaper gennie can sure get funky! :D
  5. OK I have never had an IS but I have had a "smaller" sports sedan the C230 and I have had many IS loaner cars. If I had an IS or a C class as a weekend driver maybe. The C class was for my wife we had a baby and I inherited the C class.. Now I am about 6' and there is no way I was comfortable driving the C class. This car was too small for me and forget about passengers in the back. I love the feeling, handling of driving the "sports sedans" but I will also tell you that they eat tires...so be prepared to replace them on a frequent basis or the ride quality will suffer. I think after the initial "wow this is cool" wears off you will wish you had your LS back. Have you looked at the GS? Maybe that would be more of a compromise. The trunks have some room in them which is surprising but for me it still just was not practical. I drove the C class for about two years and I had 8 months left on the lease when I got out of it. I could not be happier...and again I loved the car just not for a daily driver "for ME"
  6. Not my taste. But somebody might like it...
  7. Exactly. What we have done in my opinion is giving the companies billions of dollars and turned them over to the Unions that have ran them in the ground. And I am not saying that unions are all bad. But this is just ridiculous...AIG ridiculous too...this government spends billions of dollars like it is monopoly money. Oh wait it is...to them. And now lets fix health care...what a joke. Sure I may consider a Caddy in the future. But not in the market for a car right now since I just bought the X5 a little while back. Now did I consider an American car...yes and I did look at some. Looked at the Escalade and the Navigator. The Navigator was not my type of SUV did not like the styling of it. My neighbor had an Escalade kept it for less than a year he hated it. I have another neighbor that just bought his wife a new CTS...beautiful car she seems happy with it. I love the look of the new Escalade but when looking at an 06 or 07 vs. my 06 X5. I think I made the right choice. I would have loved to have the extra room that the Escalade offers but I was not willing to pay more money for a pre owned Escalade then what I could get an pre owned BMW X5 for...plus got .9% financing on the BMW...and BMW ate my entire lease out of the Benz...and the Caddy dealers would not even consider that. So yes I would consider buying an American Car...if the price is right. That is saying a lot...considering I have sworn there will never be another American car in my driveway.
  8. We have been over all of this with cduluk before in some of his other post. Nothing insulting or mean at all with what you are SW have said. The other post that I am reffering to was about insurance fraud that cduluk and his parents seemed to consider acceptable. In case anyone needs a recap of that... us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53613&st=75 cduluk- I know you are 20 you and you are still in school. I am happy that your parents can afford to buy you nice things. When my son is 20 I am sure that I will buy him nice things too. However I would not pay for one thing for him if I though that he would turn out with the values you have. I have worked extremely hard to be successful as most people have. I am not mad that I have had to work hard. I am happy, it has given me something to be proud of. I have a nice home, great family, nice cars, nice motorcycle...money in savings, and retirement building. My parents helped me with my school and cars and car insurance, I was not homeless and I did not come up with out. But what my parents taught me that I am not sure yours have was to work and the value of money. I worked after school, summers, every chance that I got. I saved my own money that I earned and I learned to pay for things myself. There is something about going out and buying things on your own. When I was 20 I did not want my parents to pay for my things. I am not bitter because of this I am a better person. Even though you are 20 life to this point should have taught you a few things. You went on and on about how good a deal it was on this Lexus that you were getting. Then the salesman even met your number on your trade for you old car. What else could he of done for you? You said that it was a great deal. So what magic number would be acceptable for you, what should he be selling the car for? Maybe he should just sell it for exactly what he gave you for it on trade? See where we are all coming from. He can't he has to make money too. He has to pay the girl to answer the phones, pay for health insurance, his bills...and guess what he may have a little spoiled brat at home that he wants to have nice things too. You just don't understand because you have not been in a position that you have to "pay" for anything.
  9. No, it's not just you. I think it looks absolutely hideous, and useless and even dangerous for anybody who comes in contact with it, instead of the front part of the car that is designed to minimise impact with pedestrians and such.. but hey.. if you really like it.. why not. I wonder how long it will take for a hungry ambulence chaser to bring a suit against a vehicle owner for causing "additional" injury to a pedestrian due to modifications such as these? Tom Hey to each his own, or her own. I don't like it all that much either but whatever not my car. Tom...you have probably just giving some attorney a new class action law suit idea! :D
  10. I think he must of made out well on the car he sold you to be able to give you what he did for your trade. I agree that is not much profit at all SW. I think it is funny when people are amazed about the whole car dealer thing. If you would truley like to be amazed take your new car back and see what he will give you for it on a trade. Bet it will be much less then what you just paid for it. It's the same thing just reversed. Nice car and good luck with it.
  11. I'm moving next door! Hey NC why not just crash in my 5 bedroom guest house. :whistles:
  12. I love the Lexus that my wife has confiscated from me! :D But my X5 drives like a totally different animal. They are almost in 2 different classes and it is hard to compare. I think that as far as the wow factor... I get a lot more "attention" driving the BMW then the Lexus. Now having had a Mercedes too even though it was just a C class I can say the only problem that I had with it was the tires...and the alignment. Other than that I had no problem with the car whatsoever. It was just too small for me. Now as far as the styling of the BMW...I am kind of torn on this too. I like the old X5 like mine up until 06. The new 5 series looks good...but to each his or her own. It might be a while but...one day...I will have to build on another garage so that I can get a BMW, LEXUS, JAG, BENZ, CORVETTE, HARLEY, DUCATTI, LAMBO...hell since we are dreaming…I am going to dream big! :D
  13. Foreign cars usually cost more to repair (generally more expensive parts) That is why most of the time they are a little higher to insure if you want or need full coverage. But because of their safety ratings if you look at liability only on foreign cars vs. domestic cars it would surprise most people that it would be cheaper or almost the same to insure the foreign car rather than the domestic. You also have to remember to there are so many options on cars today without VIN#'s most of the time you have no idea what safety features cars have. I can tell you it would be $30 cheaper to insure a Chevy Trailblazer then my X5, or about $40 less to have an Ford Escape rather than my Lexus. IF I had just liability only on my Lexus it would be $119.00/ 6 months, if it was the same Trailblazer it would cost $123/ 6 months so the Trailblazer would be higher. I tried to match the options best I could one thing that you have to keep in mind is that the foreign cars do cost more as well.
  14. Ask your adjuster to explain how they have determined the value of your car. Present any receipts for repairs such as new tires, brakes, tune ups etc. Most of the time the adjusters can work with you some on the price that they are allowing you for your car. Unfortunately sometimes it is like buying a car in reverse.
  15. I don't know maybe he is like me...just drops in and reads. I have been so busy at work I just don't seem to have as much time to get on and chat with everyone here at LOC! OK...Billyshaft where u be at man!
  16. I have an 04 330 AWD that the wifey is driving. I love it great suv.
  17. Well guys a couple of months ago I picked up a 2006 X5 330i, got rid of the C230. I have to say wow...I love it. It rides and feels much different then the Lexus both I think ride great. I have never been a big fan of black cars but when I saw this one I had to have it. Black Sapphire metallic. Looks good when it is clean. Here is a picture.
  18. I am...it's fun. I am doing it all with emails...if I don't get it no big deal will get another one later.
  19. I am still negotiating with them. If they take my C class in and eat the remainder of my lease about 8-9 months...then I think I am going to get it but we are about $2,500 away and they have dropped $1,500 already. I am in no hurry so we will see what we see! The only thing that I am wondering about the warranty they are willing to put a 1 year 100k mile warranty on it. I think if I get them to drop the warranty I will get the car much less but just tossing around ideas. Typical car sales people they called and told me the car was sold. Then called me back in 2 hours and said that the deal fell through and I must be destined to get this car...what B S!
  20. Hey...thanks RX. I have looked at the Jags too. I am playing with them on the price on this...I love negotiating...I also am not in any hurry. I have about 8-9 months left on the lease. If I can I would like to get something sooner. As far as turning wrenches...not that I would not want to...just don't know how too. I have a good independent guy I use for the normal stuff. Still thinking.
  21. Ok...getting towards the end of the lease on my (wifey's) c class. Well since we have had the little one the Lexus has become the baby mobile...and the C class has been my daily comuter... I am looking at a preowned S430 4matic...wanted to see what my Lexus friends thought and see what advice you guys can offer to me. I can get this S430 which has been certified but with out the certified warranty and just the remainder of the 50,000 warranty for $26,000 + tax tags, or I can pay 2k for the certification. I don't think that I will pay 2K, think I can find a better warranty. Well guys tell me what you think... I have looked at some Lexus preowned too...and I am sure after buying my RX prewowned that I am going to go this route VS leasing another car...just like the look of the S class better than the LS? Don't :chairshot: to bad...
