  1. The location is in the Engine Bay Fuse Box, Open the cover of the fuse box, it will be identified as MAG CLT Relay . Hope this helps. To know the precise location of the Relay, Check out the inner side of the Fuse Box cover for the Fuse & Relay Diagram and the related location. either way to ease you could do.
  2. What is the position the Height Control Ride s/w. Which is placed close to your the Hand Brake lever. I have noticed this in GX, I do not know how many would agree, I have played with all the settings on the ride control s/w. If it is at the lowest, the suspension after a few minutes ride, automatically becomes very soft and cushy,( this is the softest ride . The next setting is a bit hard, but comfortable yet enough. The mid point where if selected, your ride as per the mfr is comfort, but yes you can feel this difference. The max is the Sport ride wherein the shock and Air Suspension becomes harder, wherein the compressor kicks to keep the pressure at bay with the hydraulics. This is a bit hard and you can feel it at the slightest faint road hump or bump.
  3. possibilities are that the Flasher relay unit is getting intermittent with the power as the Fuse is fried, thereby the flash stops and has intermittent function. Go the Fuse Relay box at the Driver Footwell area which is Relay box 2 , which basically has the fuse for the instrument cluster DAC First inspect if the fuse is ok if not have it replaced. It is mentioned as Gauge which is 7.5A ( no 11 slot ) have it replaced with the same ampere.
  4. The Error is due to the OS software has got corrupted. It is not the Application such the NAV DVD which you have got. Goto the nearest AUTOZONE and get the fault codes out. It is free, Let us know, We will take it from there. Possibilities are that due to some virus the application has corrupted the NAV unit ECU, ( very rear ) unless there has been some spike into installing a third party software. Now one way the dealer is also right as the unit needs to be complete scanned, all error codes wiped and fresh install of OS system into the NAV unit ECU. As this is a long long job, stealership has given the shortest way of solving this job ( Replacement ) . One more thing you could do is try sourcing a NAV unit ECU from the Salvage yard guys ( ofcourse GX model ) and you could install the NAV DVD software as an upgrade.
  5. What is happenning is the AC Mag Clutch Relay is tripping, You need to replace that which is located in the Fuse Box. These is a TSB # EL009-05. The indication would be if you observe the A/C light flashing when the trip happen from cool air to normal room temp. The Part number is 90987-02028. And the old part number is 90987-02022. Check if this has been replaced. hope this helps
  6. Could you tell me if the toggle s/w for the rain sensor is in Auto Mode. Also sometimes if the sensor which is stuck to the windscreen, there is a tape which holds it together P/n 89944-50010, costs 10 bucks i assume, so maybe the glue is weak have them replaced, it works.
  7. The main culprit normally is the " Throttle Position Sensor for the EFI" P/N - 89452-33010" for the inordinate idle. I had similar problem, and I had done my max adjustments, I suppose the bushings within were not adjusting, Picked up a new one for 140/- bucks, And it has just too good since then, maybe you can check out.
  8. YEs this is normal on a cold start, but once you get warmed up, the GX V8s do have this bit higher on sound frequency. if you can post an audio file, maybe i can give some insight to it. The one thing is Fan bearing noise will get louder as days goes by and the sound amplitude sometimes is unbearable. This is beacause the ball bearing due to loss of grease and oil within, gets to grind against each other. I hope that is not so in your case.
  9. Can you post some images after the job done, would really like to see how they are !!
  10. The "STEALERSHIP" aka Dealer is takeing you for a ride, thats what they do, What you have quoted, What you need to do is remove the exhaust , patch up the leak and replace of O2 Sensors, And ensure both sensors to be replaced. All this within 400/- bucks. The catlytic converts are just fine, It is the sensors which are throwing up these signs, Do note the ECM always reads signals from the O2 Sensor via its response, if the response time output changes from Rich to Lean or other way round then the ECM interprests this as malfunction on the O2 heated Sensor and triggers a MIL fault on the cluster. Now the fault you have quoted is the sensor Bank 2 is the sensor which is farther away from the engine.
  11. Jenny could you be more specific, what are the warning lights in the cluster coming up. Secondly did you recently service your truck apart from the dealer. The problems you have quoted, do you have loss of power,, low compression, and does the vehicle have momentary jerk on start, loss of acceleration. or if you open the hood after start check if you have some valves train noise and engine vibration. Did you recently use any fuel injectors additives into your tank gas.Sometimes these deposits usually go and sit into these intake valves, this would likely decrease engine performance. Just try if you can get into Autozone and ask them if these throw up some codes. Maybe that would be best start to troubleshoot.
  12. It is quite easy. You need to buy the new relay part number and that is #90987-02028. This should replace the 90987-02022. Here is the new part looks like and the fuse box location which requires replacement. Also you can see the reverse side of the Fuse Box cover the location of the relay - MG - CLT ..this is also called as the AC Magnetic Clutch relay. Hope this helps. There was a TSB to this effect for certain models on Lexus. The TSB is attached and the part number and the Relay location. so long !!! AC_Magnetic_Clutch_Relay.pdf
  13. The fact is that this noise irritates back of your head, when you actually want it all quiet. Now coming to the job aspect, it is a long drawn job, I suggest Bob you with warranty, take this TSB and have it done, as it is the labour expensive, the parts are cheap. Ramana I think you contact the Lexus advisor if you dont have one, that is the best option, Second best doing yourself, if you have all the required tools.
  14. I fully agree that GX did not come except for the new generation one are equipped as a option. But if you need HID as an option The products are from Xenon Depot. They have shown good results and lot of GX owners are quite happy with its performance. If you want to go for the mod that is modding the lens and then the HID kit having OEM Phillips ballasts and Xenon bulb, then the performance is too good, Amazing clarity. Here is the mod done from the normal OEM fresnel lens to TL and the above kit phillips kit.
  15. This normally happens when the parking brakes are not fully released. They tend to clasp the wheel even at the slightest variance, and you get this shoddy noise which is at the lowest decibel, and the you get this burnt rubber smell within the cabin.
  16. Nopes ISO mean "instead of" . The fuel is perfect, just change from the regular gas stations where you normally fill her up. The lemony odour is start of the problem some get it and some dont. if the gas solution does not work ( which does work most cases) then alternatively you could open the Glove compartment door, and remove the wood trim, it is to be given slight pressure and pull here out, The Glove compartment apart from the screw on the either side of the frame ( upper side ) and the lower side is the hinge which is clasping it, you need to give a firm pull outwards, Also one more is the cable , this needs to be detached from a cable housing which is attached to the left side. It is bit tricky, make sure your hands are not greasy. It is just rotate and pull. The insert goes the opposite way. Once removed you will be able to see the blower assy, which is cylinderical in shape, You could spray some lysol for a few minutes and run AC for some time before you could close, this will flush the spongy bacteria content within the coolant line having water dormant over a period. OR get to autozone and have the Airconditioning unit flushed. Make sure you buy the AC flushing stuff from the dealer Good stuff) , I cant get the name on top of my head the part name. Also while you have finished the job might as well clean the cabin air filter if not replaced have them bought ( p/n 87139-YZZ05) Hope it helps. cheers
  17. The rotten egg smell is cause of the Fuel, try changing the fuel iso the regualar one. There has been a TSB from Lexus to this effect. Nothing to do with air freshner. All at the present moment you could use Lysol and spray on the Air vents external which is front of the Windscreen and the rest in the interiors, I had the similar one, all i changed the fuel, and all gone.
  18. The pressure build up is not due to faulty gasket but a faulty pressure control valve, as it does for controlling vapor pressure in a fuel tank that has an inlet line from the fuel tank, a pressure sensing line from the filler pipe, and an outlet line to a canister for handling the fuel vapor. Fuel vapor flow through the valve is controlled by ambient pressure from the filler pipe and tank pressure from the fuel tank, with those pressures acting on two diaphragms within the valve to alternately allow flow through the valve during normal vehicle operation and to prevent flow during refueling. A pressure relief valve is connected between the filler pipe line and the canister outlet line to prevent tank overpressurization should the valve malfunction. The DTC tool would tell you exactly which is faulty. I cant remember the code off hand, but the tool should be able to tell you
  19. The OEM method is to top off the oil in the Filler Plug, Close it. Start the Engine and Move the gear lever from P to 2L ( must be done slowly) and then return to P. You need to purchase a SST tool (09843-18040) from the dealer which is actually just 10/-$. It is just two wire leads. On you Driver Foot Area, open the Circuit Terminal, short the Wires between CG and TC points. Now check on your Instrument cluster the A/T oil temp Gauge. . Now shift the Gear Lever Move to N( hold for 5 mts) & From N to 4D position and from 4d to N in 1.5 Seconds. Perform this action repeatedly for 10-15 seconds. You will have ATF temperature Warning lamp comes on for 2-3 Seconds and goes off. Now Disconnect the terminals wires below & now idle the vehicle . Now try to tilt the vehicle to the left, ie the Vehicle Right side should be risen. And lower it back, You will see a warning lamp on the guage. No Again top the Fluid. thats it and idle for another 10 minutes till the Warning lamps goes off. Thats it you are good to go.
  20. Here is the TSB copy i was mentioning on my earlier posts.Hope it helps. Cylinder_Head_Cover_Oil_Baffle_Precaution.pdf
  21. I would agree with Sandy, the WS as per the TSB introduced say no replacement, but often inspection and top up. Here is the TSB, that will have some clarity on the Toyota/ Lexus product. The SST tool used is just a simple wire with dual leads to check on the oil temprature while refilling. It is quite simple. Here is the TSB. ATF_WS_Introduction.pdf
  22. You are right, but I had mine kinda of same issue going dead and then a sudden recovery after a long break. Do some tests to find out if the alternator is dead totally, I presume The whole alternator cannot be dead- the trigger are due to few parts which are critical in its function, most of them can be replaced, example such as the solenoids, Alternator brushes, Rectifier.Condenser And if were you I would not replace the stuff, have it rebuilt, as the new one cost 890/- and that is just the rotor assy, then you need to add on all of the above I have listed which will run above 1.5k or you may have to get one from the salvage yard, lucky if you get one good conditioned one. Good luck
  23. XX Well the OEM on mine lasted 6 yrs. What do you say about that !! My collegeau had the optima for 4 years ( Red Top )
  24. The service chart never says replace, only inspect and top up, but then some dealers do at 90k and some at 100k. But I just did at 75 and I did find a difference with the smoothness and the ride, I did have a bit of noise at idle which was bit at a higher pitch, and the acceleration was rough. Now it has been smooth like a pre-delivery vehicle. ( this is my opinion)
