  1. Maybe you could do a check from underneath the car. Do a start, and go towards the lower end of the radiator, and check out the water pump area if there are any leaks. The Water pump is very close to the idler pulley. Normally to know if this gone, you would hear a noise like bearing grinding, that means this is fried. If the Lexus water pump can't turn freely, or it begins to leak coolant. That's a sign you need to replace your Lexus water pump. The water pump i dont know, if somebody has replaced, maybe some members could let you know the cost, should be around 100-150/-$. check out the attachments.
  2. check out page one of this subject, Three Documents are attached.
  3. Exactly dens has mentioned already, you could also do these checks...Ensure you burn music on CD-R not RW and burn speed not more than 4 x 600 writing speed and Ensure to have open session and not multisession. Do not use Nero, they are crappy, For Free software the best would be www.burrrn.net. They are just too good. And try sourcing CDs which are coloured than the plain mirror look one. Why I say is there is a lot of difference is they have Different reflectivity, the sound amplication reproduced as good as the original ones.
  4. The Rotors are OEM, and have them skimmed before you install new pads. Go by the books for the limitations on the Skimming.
  5. Here is the breakaway view of the LS430 Suspension
  6. yes, but they were making announcement that there will a total makeover of the new model from 2010 unlike the previous models, And I dont think so that has happened, To me when you say change or a complete makeover would the Chassis change, a new generation engine, the body, interiors all of it. Now does this model look at all any change from that perspective, Nopes ! I dont think so.
  7. Jpil, what you need is to bleed the air out of your suspension, if you have the tools you can do this at home, Ok Abbrevations are VCM - Vehicle Control Management, S/w - Switch. Ok now if the fuse removal and refit has not done any improvement, then ok hay had posted this similar problem, I will posted it for you again. Do also LS430 suspension Sensors fail if you go thru puddle of water as the water ingress does cause the sensor to rust around the caps, so if you have any solvents you could clean them up or disconnect them permanently. I have already mentioned the bleed process, if not go by the process mentioned below. Apologies for my techno jargons as I am a aviation consultant, most of words are similar, I am happy to help you anyway I can. Quote There are two rear height sensors, you can disconnect them one at a time and try moving them to there fullest travel either way, turning the engine on and waiting a few mins to see if the car rises or falls. Then replace the faulty one.... See this picture for details. The sensor is just to the right of where it says "HI" in the picture, you can see the electrical plug in the top, ignore the writing it was from a thread on lowering the 430. The picture is of the passenger side as seen from directly behind the car, look under the rear bumper and you will see what I mean. Unquote
  8. There is a way to unlock the Nav lockout. As this is only a software program which is restricting the use, I was doing some research on this thru the contents on the HDD Software control, I believe the .KWI structure file is what controls the nav lock out procedure, To edit this structure XML file you need to clone the software and build one editing the command structure of the lockout. There is code which once you have inputted in the command structure, All that happens is when in Drive mode when the command is given for change on the nav screen while in drive, the instruction is taken and the screen change happens. I havent tried myself, but i do have my own friends who have done this nav lock solution. The one i have seen personally is on the Sequioa was copied the Loading.Kwi file structure from the old version Nav DVD and the rest completely from the new version. It worked perfectly. Now while in motion his partner (wife) can make calls, switch screens and loads of stuff.
  9. I meant nothing has changed except the body design and Toyota would pronounce new design feature, its like old wine in new bottle. Visit this Website
  10. You will need a scan tool called SST - 09843-18040 to read the transmission temp. Dont Drain until you have one, it is about 3$. IT is available with the local dealer. It is very easy once you have all the stuff. Ensure to purchase the following 1. Transmission Drain Plugand Over Flow Gasket - P/N - 35179-30010, and you need two. You also need to replace the Fill Plug O-ring. Ensure to bring the original to any autopart store to match. You need to buy 4 quarts of Toyota WS fluid. I use a scan tool which i have recently for my laptop from http://www.autoenginuity.com/, after a recomendation with advanced features for toyota or lexus.
  11. here is the copy of the TSB given by lexus for all models. Also dont break your head into this, I had exactly the same problem, they replaced it under warranty. They replaced the Catalytic Converter assy within the exhaust pipes, It was replaced under the Major Emission Control Component Warranty that is 96 months or 80,000 mile coverage, whichever occurs first. All the crap about fuel change was bull story. There was a defect within the CCs. Which I think Lexus realised it late as intially they had mentioned about Fuel change in the TSB TSIB_EG001_03_Sulfur_Odor_From_Exhaust.pdf
  12. There are three attachement which details the service of the suspension if needs be, What I think also is you need to bleed the air out of the suspension. To have it properly aligned
  13. This may be dumb, check out the fuse which is in the fuse box mentioned as Air Sus Fuse 40A. This controls the Electronic Suspension. For information on Sensors, they are located on the Lower Control Arm. You could also do a test. First Remove the negative battery cable, then remove the fuse whoch is above mentioned, Then wait for 3-5 minutes, Here the VCM would reset. Then reconnect in the same sequence of removal. Correct me If am wrong is'nt the height control s/w in the trunk. Then ensure you need to have that to off position. Rior to the start up of this job. The attached diagram is the exploded view of the Suspension, in case you want to know the height control sensor link
  14. Well, Well, Well, here is another shot of the front and the rear of the new Prado 2010. What do you think! The current model 2009 front view is also added, I can see any major change except the bull bars are trimmed. Is toyota cutting costs !!
  15. TSBs normally if there are recurrent issues, the Dealer normally does it himself, without even mentioning a word, I know this are with some dealers as they are just too good. And some are nasty, Even if they have the part, they would say no stock of the part and make you wait for a really long time, and your patience runs out and then you go to another dealer. TO know about you car whether a TSB is carried out, you could goto http://www.lexus.com and join as a owner and get all the service history records of your car, , here you would know for certain TSB repairs carried out, the wording would say like Dealer Maintenance Repair carried out, this is an indication of a TSB job done, and some mention the TSB repair number.
  16. Recently on a long drive with my family, I had to stop at a friends place, and on departure, the smart key just did not work, no crank or neither start, just dead, Had to call lexus and just collected my wife's car 3 days back, Guess what they replaced the unit for free, I was surprised, so I had asked the manager what was the issue, and he mentioned that they had to replace certain models, as a TSB has been issued in Nov 08 for such issues. I managed to get one copy, Hope it is useful to others who could face such problems. Smart_Key.pdf
  17. There is troubleshooting method for the Lexus technicians issued under a TSB how to trouble shoot audio issues, These were common issues in LX, Hope this helps. ML.pdf
  18. There is TSB issued to the Sensor Height issues, Here is copy, if it may help you members. LX_Height_Sensors.pdf
  19. DC i would be interested too..lemme know what stuffs you have got on the GX, send me an email - mann68@gmail.com
  20. Could the GX be on the similar design, all have to wait and see, until then my guess is as good as yours. I dont like it, we have to wait and see what GX would be, could be similar on the body lines, except some changes to the exterior accessories.
  21. There was this russian website having the image of the Concept looking GX or RX you could say, but the specs was mentioning GX460 , V8, 310BHP, 3.7 Litre Engine. Wheel base= 117 in. width= 75.3 in,Ground clearance= 8.9 in. length= 187 in. height= 75.6 in. The Day time Running lite, tail lite, Foot board would be equipped with LED lite. The feature would be that the headlamps would be swept back similar to LX but bit squeezed from the top.
  22. You just need basic tools to do the replacement, at your home garage. Simple save labour cost goto this website http://www.drivewire.com It only cost 275/-
  23. Sewell has got a promotion going on now, Data Version 7.1 for 260/$. Use the promo code NAV07 for online purchase, Hurry before they run out.
  24. I am surprised , the OEM cost only 276/- $ at Sewell and the p/n is #MARK 48510-60120. An attached image of the FRont Shocks and parts
