  1. This is definetely not a harness issue here, as to what you have quoted, It has to between the Ignition box and the ECU, there is error code getting generated which are retaining few functions. Just ask the dealer prior to changing the harness to do a Flash Re-programming of the ECU. My Gut feeling is the ECU is slowly dying. I had the similar issue on the LS400, This happened with the Ignition and headlamp and the Interior light being on after the keys removed. I finally had to disconnect the battery. Manage to get a ECU from the yard. It has been 4 years and perfectly working.
  2. Absolutely In fact, when running in straight line, we want a little bit understeer to make the car stable. When the car is subjected to side force, probably due to cross wind or the road's irregularities, understeer could resist the force and avoid the car to be steered automatically, therefore the driver need not to correct the steering frequently. the only option owuld be when entering corners with cross winds, you need to understeer to provide a bit stability.
  3. I have compiled a document so that this could be of use to all GX470 owners who are out of warranty for clunk and cannot claim for replacing the Drive Shaft/Propeller from the dealer. There is quick solution to the dreaded thump. The attached document details a very simple method. Enjoy it DIY_GX470_Clunk_Greasing.pdf
  4. You can visit http://www.stevinsonlexusoffrederick.com/AboutParts or call 303-684-3550 They are located downtown denver. ( google it for location)
  5. The Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS) monitors the difference in tire pressure in all four or five tires (if the vehicle is equipped with a full-size spare tire) through radio wave signals from a tire pressure valve/sensor mounted in each wheel. Each wheel (including the spare tire on certain vehicles) has a tire pressure warningvalve/sensor integrated into the air valve with a unique ID number that measures the tire pressure and tire temperature and then transmits the information to the antenna/receiver mounted inside the vehicle through a radio wave signal. The unique ID number must be manually entered into the ECU using TIS Techstream whenever the tire pressure warning valve/sensor is replaced or after a tire and wheel are exchanged. The ECU takes each tire pressure, tire temperature, and unique tire pressure warning valve/sensor ID information from the antenna/receiver and compares it to the specified value, which was registered during PDS. If the information received does NOT match the specified value registered in the ECU, it will transmit a signal to illuminate the Tire Pressure Warning System Indicator Light located on the combination meter. If the ECU is replaced, it is necessary to manually enter the tire pressure valve/sensor ID numbers using TIS Techstream. The Tire Pressure Warning System Indicator Light on the combination meter is illuminated or flashes continuously when the ECU senses that the tire pressure, tire temperature, and/or unique ID number does NOT match the specified value registered in the ECU. Now if the owners want to have their own setting and have the ECU set to the required reading. Open your Glove compartment. There is a s/w on the frame of the glove door once opened. This is called as the Main 2nd S/w. Check whether its position is up or down. If it is Main, Using a tire pressure gauge, check ALL tire pressures (including the spare if equipped) with a full-size spare . Check if the tyre px is low. If it is yes, then one or more tires have damage causing an air leak. Fix it by replacing the tyre. And adjust all 5 tyres prsi by the door label mentioned on the Driver area door frame. **Insert the key and keep it at On Position, Wait for 5 minutes and you will the TPMS warning from the cluster would disappear. If the 2ndS/w is in down position, then you need to manually return the s/w to the Main s/w position . And follow the suggestion where the ** is represented on this table. Hope this enlightens you and solves your problem : B)
  6. You need to replace the arm and the blade in complete. Also check out at the fulcrum point of the arm, has there been any damage as to alignment to the bolt.
  7. My opinion would be go for the Michelins..they are just too quiet and amazing life span.
  8. dens....there is TSB which says about the moonroof getting stuck..( Though I am bit off topic to your problem :chairshot: )....they advise abt some changes and greasing...have a look..could be part of the problem getting solved. hoping it helps. Moon_Roof_Stuck_Improper_Operation09.pdf
  9. Do a diagnosis by doing a navigation check from the menu. In this mode you can do a check , you will have in this Sequence. GPS Information, Vehicle Sensors, Color Bar, etc...Click on GPS Information , Start the Diagnosis, and check the GPS related information. Once received check out the level of Signal, it should read higher, chech the rest ie position data and time data. Ensure to this at an wide open area clear of any obstacles.
  10. The vibration TSB is attached for all, I had the similar problem, and the differential dampers solved the issue. Hoping it does for you'll. Steering_Drive_Line_Vibration_issue_Feb_2008.pdf
  11. Have the Windshield washed and cleaned with some glass degreaser..could be some fine grime settled and sensor unable to read the sensitvity of the object aka wiper rubbers ) Have you been on a long drive recently ! could be one of the factors that they get stuck to the glass.
  12. since how long you have had and how much did you pay for...and was it via the dealer. How long did the original battery (OEM) last.
  13. I think the local replacement of the GX470 Quarter rear window can be made, and the replacement looks to me quite easy, you just have to have some basic tools ( Phillips Screw Driver / Some scotch tape). Ensure when you buy you must buy the window trim lockstrip and other related trims which come along. It just a straight forward 30-45 minutes job.
  14. Further New images of the rear wheel placement on the door itself and the camera attachment
  15. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your GX purchase, The dealer itself have got a package maybe you can start from there. There are various products in the market, Meguairs maybe you could do research on the net also.
  16. I think manufacturing defects are very rare, unless anything associated with welding occasionally seen as most notably, failures occur where oil residues are present within radiators if not lexus would have issued a TSB under the comprehensive warranty for such model. My 04 is still kicking perfect( touchwood) I think Premature failure will usually occur due to pitting corrosion although this will have a wide range of causes. Commonly, oxygen pitting, chloride induced pitting and pitting associated with copper plating are found. Pitting usually occurs at areas of natural stress, i.e. convex folds or near welds which are anodic sites in the radiator. Manufacturing defects are rare but where found are commonly associated with welding defects. New radiators fitted to old systems are anodic to the system and are prone to premature failure. Old radiators may eventually fail due to under deposit corrosion associated with sludge deposits, usually magnetite, at the bottom-centre of the panel, which causes pitting corrosion in the absence of any specific fault with the water or system. In most radiators sludge accumulation causes blockage, or inefficiency, long before the radiator leaks.
  17. Just inquisitive, do they last so long...anybody experienced it... Maybe i will try it next time
  18. Finally my GX battery which last since the start I have owned, today it finally went dead, though all the lights radio, Turn Lights, Headlamp Beam all were absolutely bright, but does not hold charge after 3-4 hours break, had to jump start regularly, I decided to buy the Toyota Lexus battery from the dealer, cost 130/$. Phew the original battery last almost 6yrs. I decided to go for the original since it has lasted such long compared to the other models available.
  19. Big Hurt, it is nothing to do with the AHC pump but some of the 02/03 models exhibit a flashing AHC "OFF" light with the DTC code 1743 in the AHC ECU memory. All it needs is a change to the relay unit performance. Old Part Number - 90987-02004 Current Part Number - 89278-60010 - Relay Height Control. For location and replacement you have to refer to the TIS manual AHC Relay location. There was a TSB issued, maybe if somebody has can publish it for you.
  20. Here is the TSB copy of the problem if you need them. LX470_TSB_on_Mirrir_Tilt_Issues.pdf
  21. That is right there has been no TSB for 06 models except for 07/08 model.. here is one just in case you want to know. Alternative_Front_Brake_Pads.pdf
  22. Here is the TSB issued in 07 for the Cabin Filter Change...enjoy AIR_FILTER_REPLACEMENT.pdf
  23. Here is the TSB attached Inner_View_Mirror_Vibration_TSB_NV007_07.pdf
  24. I will let you know in detail by tmw, in the menawhile you could remove the air tube to the air suspension coming in from the compressor and have it cleansed thoroughly. If you are finding any cracks or warpness, have it replaced with part number 48934-30010. Also ensure the sensors are need to be cleansed with some spirit or alchohol to remove any rust. I am currently having it checked with my friend of mine who had done this job. Apologies for the delay.
  25. Exactly that what I do the same. As rightly said by NC..they are "Stealerships", I have had bitter experience, Today I have a full fledged garage enough to handle and remove the complete gear box trans and other stuff. My dependency with the dealer is only if somethings which I have not able to solve and repair is beyond my head and do keep the warranty going, and I personally do all the preventive maintenance. I am a purebred grease monkey when i started my aviation career and that is why i still love my lexus.
