  1. The gains to be received from such a weight loss are quite positive, better handling, braking performance, fuel milage, and acceleration. But this site just might not be the place for such a post. Try the Toyota Nation site. They might be more receptive there.
  2. mcelligott that is really cool! Have you done dyno runs yet? If yes what's your hp increase? Are you doing air/fuel or ignition retuning?
  3. Yup. The hose attaches to the valve cover of the front cylinder bank (via a similar tube). I understand that with the mini air filter the engine breathes better. I 've done it but there's no noticeable improvement. But I suppose it's to be done with other mods to be effective.
  4. It started when my horn when dead. I traced the fault to the ribbon cable in the steering wheel base. after repairing the cable (which involved removing the wheel) I realised that my tachometer reads at about 4000rpm at idle and shifts from 1 to 2 at about 3000rpm at full throttle. There was one time when it just didn't respond at all. Now the engine sounds fine there is no horsepower loss that i can feel it just seems to be the tachometer. Any suggestions??
  5. I read a thread in aonther forum where a guy states that we don't need headers!! Are our headers really that non restrictive?? I was thinking about doing custom headers. Should i bother???
  6. Has anyone ever bought and used CD manuals from www.autoshoprepairmanuals.com. I'm considering it but at $35 can it be any good. I don't want to waste my money.
  7. lol!! little sks... eman the eyelids are made of vinyl and the grill started out like this
  8. Yup! under the door panels should be a plastic dust screen held to the door by a reusable adhesive. there may be a panel under the screen held on by screws.
  9. Has anybody every dyno'd their 3vzfe? My problem is that there are no dynos in my country. The performance seen down here consists of skylines and hondas which all hve readily available info.
  10. Yup! I did it just to see what it would look like b4 i invest in custom fibreglass eyelids. It should look like yours...that was what gave me the idea. thanks
  11. If you remove the door panel and plastic covering you'll see the clips used to keep the cladding in place. Using a pair of pliers youshould be able to remove them from the door thus removing the cladding
  12. I'm looking to get a few more horses out of my 93 windom by reducing backpressure and increasing scavenging. My thought is custom headers. But to get them done i need to know the where in the rpm range that the es300 sees its max bhp and torque. From driving it seems to me that there is much low end torque (in first gear) but it seems to decrease in the different gears. If anybody out there any info on this i would really appreciate it.
  13. Hey guys!. I've just completed my '93 windom reworking. I've posted pictures in the gallery on the last page. Tell me what you think of it.
  14. I've had a similar experience. After changing my camshaft oil seals, sealing my valve cover gaskits, and doing a compression test I still has seeing the smoke under the hood and was still smelling the burnt fluid smell. What really did the trick was a replacement of the oil seal ("o" ring) in the oil filter bracket. The oil was leaking from the bracket and running down to the front manifold down pipe. I would suggest that you clean the down pipe with engine degreaser and check later to see if the oil (if there is any ) reappears
  15. I've had similar problems with over heating with my '93 windom. My fixes include, changing the radiator caps, changing the water pump, and manually flushing the radiator (not using the liquid radiator flushes but actually removing the bottom cap of the radator and running rods up the passagesto remove clogs). I also had my thermostat removed but i live the C/bean so i can do this maybe u can't, also replace all worn power steering clamps. I have abosolutely no cooling problems now
  16. There should be threads about this but...tsunami makes one for the '93 es300. It's the only es300 kit manufacturer i know of in the U.S. You could do a custom install like some other guys have done, or modify existing kits, or send to Japan for a front lip. Hope this helps
  17. Sorry for being out so long. I had ISP problems. Yes sticky the problem sounds adentical to what mine used to be. The bushing is a rubber-like sleeve that fits in the steering rack where the bolt that attaches the rack to the cross member is fitted. On the driver side the bushing is in the steering box it self while on the passenger side the bushing is on the steering rack bracket. Hope this helps
  18. Also check for power steering fluid leaks or use of non approved power steering fliud substitutes.
  19. I've had a very similar problem. If you have a friend handy you could do a check for a worn steering bushing. Have the friend rock the steering wheel left to right while you look at the behaviour of the steering box and rack. If your bushing is worn then you'll see the entire rack sliding from left to right. This play/movement almost caused me to run off the road while passing another vehicle. To repear it I had a mechanic insert a new bushing (from a land rover), and it's running fine now. hope this helps some.
  20. I didn't know that es300's rust!!! I must say that I'm VERY surprised to see so many posts about rusting. I bought a '93 windom last year and I've not seen any signs of rust anywhere...I have to check the bumpers though. Maybe the climate makes the difference. I live in the Caribbean
