  1. well since you are changing your timing belt you can just shove some towels between the cam pulley and the timing belt so it becomes so tight that it wont turn and this usually does the trick to holding it. just turn the main bolt until the towels you fed in are stuck. and yes it is a normal threaded bolt so counter clockwise to loosen.good luck and hope this helps.
  2. stock would be at the dealer and someimes on ebay. aftermarket you can get online or performance shops usually keep them around.
  3. it seems that they dont make replacements for the SC...why is that? i need one preaty badly.
  4. any help wanted is always welcome! ;)
  5. the strut arm bushing can be changed in a matter of an hour. after jacking the car up and taking the tire off its a matter of 5 nuts. the ball joint is a matter 2 bolts and having to use a ball joint puller.
  6. thats where mine was leaking. if you buy the seal kit the seal is in there and if you just replace that its not that difficult. once you get the rack off. i say just spend the day or the weekend and change the seal.
  7. i dont know but i read the paper today and it said that toyota made aver a billion dollars in profits this year (japanese newspaper in japan) as for the bigger exterior and interior issue. japan has harsh regulations about vehicle size because of the narrow streets and larger cars like bmw and merc. get taxed alot and thats why it costs alot in japan and thats why it costs alot to keep one. and the LS is as big as a car can get in japan without getting hit up with all the extra taxes. ofcourse toyota makes a bigger car but its for the much much richer consumer meaning for company executives or just plain rich people with drivers. its called the toyota Century. its has a v12 and it costs a good 100k$$$ the sad thing about the v12 is that because of more stupid japanese regulations it only has 280hp but it has like 450+ftlbs of torque. ;)
  8. oh dont forget about steering issues if you just get the interior parts. you need the RHD rack and sub frame. big work big money.
  9. it definitely has the power to but i really havent seen sports cars with trailer hitches on them. and it might be hard to find and or fit one. may i suggest Uhaul?
  10. get a good 4 or 5 point harness and you wont need the air bag. oh and wear a helmet and the HANS device if you plan on crashing you wonder why race cars dont have airbags... they can be dangerous. as for the wheel... im not a fan of tenzo, its kind of ricy if you ask me. try a momo. or at least a sparco. something made in italy not china... but thats just my opinion.
  11. you can import a car if it is for off road or exhibition purposes and it can stay for a year but other than that they need to see it leave or destroyed. so why dont you buy a used soarer for like2-5 grand and ship it tear everything off and switch all the parts. then just throw the chassis away.
  12. it also could be leaking from the main shaft. on top because thats where the most movement is with all the turning. i had that problem but i changed all of the seals on mine and that fixed it.
  13. those are symptoms of your air shocks gone bad.
  14. the LS doesnt have LSD right? or did it start from 92? well mine doesnt. i cant tell you off hand which oil to use but i can tell you how much to add. you have added enough once the oil starts to dribble out of the hole you are adding it in.
  15. maybe the mass air flow isnt plugged in because that will cause major running richness.
  16. yea the other week i had to change one of my customers drive shafts on a passenger van because it broke off because the u-joint was soo worn.
  17. the fastest i have gone is 110 up hill in my sc4. not too many long stretches and a lot of cops in hawaii that just try to catch speeders so im too scared to get caught. i only speed where i can see that there arent any cops. did 90 on my LS and after going 90 i found the "LOW" mode :D handles better than my sc at those speeds
  18. WOT every morning on the onramp in 2nd in my SC limit is 50 but go 80 theres nothing better than hearing a quad cam v8 screaming at 6500 or so rpms in the morning :D ...unless you have a 1j or 2j turbo but im working on that ;)
  19. oh yea maybe the overdrive is off?
  20. since we are on the subject doesn any one know what is involved in importing an engine from japan. meaning shipping and customs/paperwork declaration?
  21. ....japan? from toyota in japan... just kidding (but its true :D ) i see some people selling on ebay from time to time. just keep on looking and it will come up some time or another.
  22. sounds like a diff mount or a bushing in one of the rear arms. take a look or have it checked out.
  23. i have driven the 300 around and i felt that it was very shifty like it would stay in gear longer and down earlier than the 400.
