  1. supra it is then or maybe an IS300 one will fit?
  2. im going to have to do the same thing but later on. my friend shipped a 240sx from cali and its jsut over 1000 bucks. so it would be easiest if you could find a car in cali with a sell that is willing to take it to the dock for you. or just an owner that is willing to help you ship it.
  3. yea the supra lsd is a torsen type lsd and its not quite as reponsive as a mechanical lsd so for racing it wouldnt be best. but for daily driving its probably the best becasue it doent make noise
  4. there are lsd's that are available
  5. either the compressor is running rough or the motor and trans mounts need to be changed.
  6. so you have a honda motor in your lexus yea you dont really need a tach in an auto. ;)
  7. maybe he forgot to plug in the leveling wire
  8. use a ratchet and a 6mm(i think) there should be enough space for that.
  9. yea i recently did the ignition stuff and i didnt take off the radiator hose. you can get away with some things like that. no special tools needed just a 10mm for most of the covers and maybe an occasional 12mm and an 8mm for the rotors. an hour or two tops for the job.
  10. never heard of a brake pedal being too stiff. but it could be clogged lines or if there is enough moisture in the system that could lead to the master cylinder getitng corroded and it could fuse the bore and piston together but i have never heard of that happening or maybe the peddal mechanism froze? or maybe the abs is !Removed! up? either way you should get it checked out.
  11. that rpm sounds about right because going about 50 mine is about 2000rpm but just to make sure make sure your overdrive isnt off. and i dont know about the tires. i have bridgestone RE730s and SO-4s on mine. the car isnt as quiet as my LS but they dont compare
  12. T&E (vertex) has them but they are like 100 bucks.
  13. i think you need to visit lextreme. he has turboed and supercharged his LS400 (same engine as the SC400) so he can tell you.
  14. its not that big of a deal. it a very popular thing in japan right now they even sell full conversion kits on yahoo auctions. it runs a bit over a grand
  15. if you can, see if you can find another ls for about that price. thats what i would do. but if the damage isnt that bad and their insurance is taking care of it then like vmf said dont worry and get everything from the dealer.
  16. just change them both and with 150k miles you will be surprised. if you can fell the engine at all then chnage them.
  17. have the same problem with my sc. its something to do with the valve body in the trans. it needs a rebuild. i changed engine and tranny mounts and it doesnt do anything just made my car smoother except for the jerk
  18. even without the cam sensor there is a crank sensor so im guessing that it can do fine with just that. well if your cam sensor is blowing fuses then thats probably at fault so have it checked out and replace it if thats the cause
  19. if you mean a front bumper then just go to the dealer its only like $350
  20. why do you want to lower comp?
  21. i think the hardest part may be getting all of the parts at a good price. but if price is no objective then just order all of the parts. here in japan the soarer 5speed conversion runs just under 4k parts included. if you can find a junked 5 speed sc and rip all of the parts off like pedals, clutch master, hard line flywheel shifter boot etc.. then its a matter of drilling 2 holes and dropping the trans. oh your also going to have to have the drive shaft lengthened or made. bean: didnt you do this? except with the 5 speed?
  22. i think i had the same thing. you can hear one knock on start up right? i changed the motor, and trans mout and it wet away. i was guessing that when the motor torqued on initial fire up on bad mounts it was hitting the chassis or something and making that noise. mine didnt happen every time but fairly constantly. so i changed the mouts and i havent heard it since. so if your mounts havent recently been changed give it a try.
  23. usually i hear at about 100k miles under normal use is a good time to change them but i bet they could go twice that with no problem. and if you arent turbo or supercharged the difference between the performance of platinum and iridium is almost just the price. so dont spend the extra money and jsut get the platinums
  24. may i suggest more towels before the starter technique? and maybe use a 1/2 inch ratchet so you can click your way in place and a pipe for leverge.
  25. i dont think SC's ever came with lsd (in america) japan possibly.
