  1. I'd find a local audio shop. They do they type of thing all the time and it doesn't cost much. I pulled the radio out of both my LS400 and ES330 to connect my Sirius radio on the back. Pulled out the antenna, inserted the adapter, plugged the antenna in that and reassembled. I've seen the same adapter setups for audio connections. Very easy to take out but one suggestion, use a magnetic screwdriver.
  2. Most welcome Mike, Yeah, best to be gentle with older parts. If you can get the stick of the carb cleaner in that hole, give it a squirt and put all the stuff back on. Then start it up and see what it does. You might have to repeat a few times. I read up on the way Toyota designed their control valve and in many cases the valve doesn't slide back and forth due to being gummed up. Seeing as how they are really difficult to replace and not inexpensive either, if you can clean it, might work. A lot of it comes from using NON-Top-Tier fuels as they often are lacking certain detergents. There is a hose on the bottom you can disconnect which will allow the fuel cleaner spray to drain through. You can do it without removing the tube but then whatever you spray in will have to burn off so go easy if you don't pull the hose. Of course it will make it run like crap when you start, but not for too long. Back to Clemson and Alabama Denny
  3. The ICV or Idle Control Valve is located by the throttle body and adds extra fuel when the engine is cold which increases your idle speed. After about 10 minutes, the ICV closes and shuts off the addition flow of fuel which would cause a rich mixture and stalling. My guess is that the Idle Control Valve is not closing all the way. The thing is wicked difficult to get at however there is a method that sometimes works. I've kind of forgotten how to remove the air intake tubing but once you can see the throttle body intake, there is a small hole at the bottom of the intake. Squirt some carb cleaner in that hole. You don't have to overdue it as the stuff will have to burn off. One caution is to be very, very careful removing the MAF valve, they break easy. I think you can disconnect the tubing without disturbing the connections to that. Sorry I don't have a picture, sold the LS400 several years ago. Denny
  4. Oh boy, Are you in for some fun when it snows good. What a blast.
  5. I would suggest you get all of them done. With your car just broken in, it deserves to be refreshed.
  6. I'll second Bob's statement. If you put brake fluid in the power steering system, it may very soon become dangerous to drive the car.
  7. Well probably but let me suggest how to deal with the problem. If the rotors get overheated, they warp. How much they warp determines how much wobble. Now that your rotors aren't flat anymore, when you apply brake pressure and the caliper pistons push the brake pads against the rotors, the flex in the rotor doesn't let the pads press smoothly against the spinning rotor and it makes your brake pedal shudder. Not really dangerous but really annoying depending on the severity of the warpage. Now the good news, Rotors are pretty inexpensive and not hard to install. I would make sure to install new brake pads. Like everything else, you do get what you pay for. Aftermarket rotors and pads are abundant however, the Aisin are what you want. Try to see if there is a Bap Geon store near you as they are they best place to find such parts at a good price.

    Yes, my compliments Steve.
  9. So it looks like the bottom line is that "Sport Seats" don't heat as well as non-sport seats. Although they look exactly the same and feel the same so I can't see any reason why some would work better than another.
  10. I will have to assume that your father tested the battery under a load, not static. Batteries have a funny way of showing power yet under a load, failing due to a compromised cell. Of course if you jump it from another car, you will know.
  11. Yesterday I drove from Central New York to Boston the entire way on Interstate 90 (NYS Thruway & Mass Pike). I decided to try my Lexus navigation system since I knew the route, just to see if it would steer me wrong as it has every time in the past. Approaching Albany NY area from west, to get to the Mass Pike, you must divert to I-87 south to pick up the Mass Pike connector, something that has been there for decades, to get back to I-90 East. All signs to Mass Pike indicate this. As I approached Albany where I-90E to Albany and I-87S to Mass Pike splits and sure enough the navigation told me to stay left on I-90 East which is incorrect. Of course I took the route I knew was correct and as soon as I was on I-87S, the navigation said remain on current route. Not sure how the navigation system can be so bad when even my ancient Garmin knows the correct routing.
  12. I really like the car, even the grill however I don't care much for the price tag. Seems almost more than the LS460
  13. Before you go all deep with that stuff, maybe try adding a few bottles of Complete Fuel System Cleaner. Very often the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve tends to stick and not properly regulate idle fuel flow forcing an overfuel issue which could cause your problem. What the IAC does is controls the extra fuel which is added during cold starts (about exactly the same thing a choke did on a carburetor prior to fuel injection). When this valve sticks OPEN, the fuel flow when engine is cold is about right and the car should run fine. However, as the engine warms and if this valve does not close, then extra fuel is being dumped into your combustion chamber even when it isn't needed which causes the fuel smell and stalling. ALL of these codes can certainly be related to this issue so it is well advised to check out the cheapest things that could be wrong before getting into the expensive stuff. Just because an O2 or other sensor is on does not mean that it is broken, rather just doing it's job when it sees things out of skew. This problem is much more prevalent on engines in which people use economy gasoline as those fuels often do not have the additives found in Top Tier fuels. Hope this offers some insight. Denny
  14. I find they fog up so bad in rain or weather they are useless sometimes. Just backed into garage and used mirrors because lens was fogged. I know, how quaint but it worked.
  15. There are many online places that will replace it the same day, some within an hour and they come to you. Call any area glass company that does auto glass and most come to you. Safelight is one of the biggest and they do all the insurance stuff. Welcome to the club.
  16. No kidding. Compared to every other model, can't believe this slid through. Very easy to spill stuff. Hey Roast. Welcome to the club.
  17. I'm kind of of the opinion that if you have such concerns about fuel economy, then the resolution begins with the vehicle. I'd rather see someone driving a tiny smart car that accelerates off a traffic light than someone who drives for super economy (such a snail starts) any day. If someone does a snail start, then everybody behind them also must snail start which cause about 1/2 the people behind to miss the light cycle which wastes more fuel. I do not like being held up by someone driving a large vehicle trying to save fuel as it causes accidents and traffic jams. I say accelerate hard off the light and not worry about fuel economy. More fun and hardly uses any more gasoline.
  18. wires and gas tanks are never a good combination. Glad you resolved the issue.
  19. The trunk wires cause all kinds of weird problems. I thought my transmission was going out the first time.
  20. the mouse in my car sits straight up in the middle. Seems like they all should.
  21. You know very well if there are two and you change one, then Murphy's Law kicks in and it is the other. Luck of the Irish.
  22. I also see that you park on an incline. If you don't set the parking brake, prior to releasing the brake pedal, the entire weight of the car rolls back against the parking pawl. That is what keeps the car from rolling when in park. IF there is a lot of weight against it, such as parking on an incline, then sometimes you actually have to nudge the car forward to get the pawl to release. Of course once on a Buick Electra, I forced it, broke the pawl and the car rolled if you didn't use the parking brake after that. Take that SUV you've got and put something soft between the bumpers and just put a small amount of forward pressure on it and see if that works. Of course get someone else to help with this.
  23. Try yanking on the steering wheel back and forth. Sometimes if the wheels are turned, it can make it seem to lock. Of course you do have to have the brake pedal depressed to shift out of park as well. Just idle thoughts.
  24. Okay, didn't know they were all the same. Mine has staggered tires. 255/35-18 rear, 225-40-18 front.
  25. Glad you found it. Eureka, Isn't that the California state motto?
