  1. I don't know if any of you saw the fundraiser on TV a few nights ago for all the victims of the floods in LA and MI, but there was one segment where Mike Myers and Kanye West were speaking about the difficulty of rebuilding after such a horrible tragedy. It was all going well, until Kanye had to add his unscripted and uncalled-for input at the end: "...And George Bush doesn't like Black people!" (cut directly to Chris Tucker) Now I am not a racist, but I would love to see Kanye contribute "as much" as he can towards the issue. He comments that when there's Black people on TV in the city, they're looting, but when there's whites, they're looking for food. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that most of the affected area is the "ghetto" of New Orleans, where there is a predominent Black population. This is not me being stereotypical, this is me stating the facts. And Kanye expressing his belief that Blacks are still being victimized is just not acceptable. Direct Kanye West Video Link
  2. This is true... who the hell is going to pay $41,000 for a Limited HighlanderH?
  3. My dad decided today to retire his Sequoia, in favor of a Highlander Hybrid. I'm thinking of selling both the ES and the 4Runner for something along the lines of a used Accord Hybrid. If both the car's value's doesn't cover the cost of the Accord, I won't do it. I'll post pics up and comparisons of the money and gas saved compared to the Sequoia. Even if gas prices stop increasing, we're still making a move for at least 1 hybrid car...
  4. Unbelievable how are these oil companies getting away with this! ← Because they can. Less oil means less cash flow, so to keep up with the needs for a company's (such as ExxonMobil's) net gain, they raise crude oil prices to offset the limited availabilty of the product. Supply and demand, my friend.
  5. It's never going to stop. A major gas pipeline for the east coast runs directly from LA up through D.C. and into New England. All the gas stations closed at 9 in my area, and cops were stationed outside every one. I was the last customer at Shell, $3.47... :(
  6. OK, finally got the EXS air filter in the mail today, 2 weeks after I bought it... <_< Took out the old airbox and filter, and installed the new cone type, with the AFM metal adapter. First startup and run was good. 2nd time I started it up, maybe 1 1/2 hours later, I start it again to go to the club, and it barely hangs on at 450-500 RPM. I gave it some gas and then it settled to idle, really low again, but once it got up to almost normal temperature, it was gone. I think that I need to richen the fuel out, since I followed TRM's post on how to lean it.
  7. It happened... $5.63 a gallon in Atlanta. This is bad.
  8. I hope Bush is serious about the reserves.
  9. Wow! Now I'll have to look into rims my the ghetto ES. I'm assuming $145 is per wheel, without a tire?
  10. LOL Always wear a seatbelt! Or in this case, a reverse seatbelt.
  11. Those rims look really nice with you color, from one angle they look light gray, and at another angle they look dark gray, matching your exterior and trim. I have a small sidewall bulge, on Goodyears, but it's not that bad. Good choice! How much were those rims, was it a package, and where'd you buy them?
  12. This is one of the worst storms I've ever seen, even the tsunami almost a year ago. Video I've seen is absolutely horrible... there's structures of raised houses, just the wooden beams are all thats left on beach front homes. Some are even 200 yards out in the ocean. On the news 5 minutes ago, one man said that between the beach and the 4 first blocks closest to the beach, there is nothing left. It is completely destroyed. My heart goes out to all those involved, either members here or anyone else in Mississippi or Louisiana. :(
  13. Isn't that the Gucci interior? That's hardcore.
  14. Here we go again... Can anyone guess what will happen to gas prices when Mother Nature decides a hurricane will make land fall smack on top of the town where the U.S. gets 25% of its oil? <_< Speaking of that, hope everyone has battened down the hatches in the south.
  15. I heard that D.C. metro area is in for its fair share too, SW.
  16. Well, it's a cheap microphone, but the software was around $100. Well worth the overtime, I've had it for a little over a year now. The software I use
  17. I'm tellin' ya, go on the weekends. From Friday to Saturday, regular dropped from $2.69 to $2.60. Doesn't sound like much, but in the long haul, it is.
  18. I too am a young kid, and I try to use my best spelling, punctuation, etc. so that 1) I can gain respect for being a younger member and 2) It never hurts to "practice" (at least for me, lol...) using correct grammar for when I need to type papers or whatever- but that's why I got voice recgonition and a $5 microphone for my computer, no more typing! The big one-seven is coming up for me in less than 5 weeks, now I won't have to sneak into R movies anymore. Won't be as much fun though. :cries: I hope to be a member here for a long time, and hope to be able to join other subforums here when I get a nicer Lexus; even though something tells me that once I get into college, there won't be time for much communication about my car. Although I'll make time for it.
  19. That's actually not true. For some time now, there has been a limit to how much horsepower a car could generate in Japan, the most known to me would be the Lancer Evolution, and the Subaru WRX STi (276 HP). But now I think the law's different.
  20. LOL. What's next, "I need gas for the weed-wacker, how can I get it out of the Rolls Royce?"
  21. A(I)MEN to that. Glad to see that you're that intrested in college soon.
  22. Maybe has to do with your larger wheels? They look like a larger diamater than stocks, and when rolling resistance is increased, performance might suffer.
  23. Oh, I was talking about my 4Runner, but I assume that they are relatively close in weight.
  24. There's less friction in the CVT than in conventional gears. Also, larger vehicles carry more momentum, making it less likely to slow by rolling. Had trouble adjusting to this when I went from a 4200 lb. car to a 2900 lb. car.
