  1. Would it be possible to make the turn signal covers a little more clear? It looks much sharper than the originals.
  2. Personally, I wouldn't exceed 20"; SUV's look good with 22" rims. I like the 18" look.
  3. Anyone know if they have "super clear" replacement fogs with the yellow emitted light for the 01-02 GS300 or 430?
  4. Is it the master key? You will need the master to create additional keys. I think they cost between $150-$200. Check with your dealer and lexus-parts.com.
  5. With all the new technology and wireless capabilities horseshoed into today's vehicles, I have always wondered, what security risks are we as motorists exposed too? Check it out: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/08/01/viruses...reut/index.html http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/ar...5.html#00000553
  6. On a different note, hey Lexkid, how is that 05 GS430 treating u? What do u enjoy most about it?
  7. Try a scent of ancient milk spills...
  8. Call Lexus Corporate and threaten legal action. If they dont cooperate, take legal action. That is terrible and I am glad you weren't involved in a severe accident. Take care.
  9. Hey new big 400, I would be interested in coordinating a Lexus Midwest meet in Indianapolis. What all did you have in mind? By the way, is your GS400 black, blue or brown. I have only seen 3 GS400's in this town. I recently moved to Indy from PA.
  10. 3-4k mile oil change intervals is just fine especially if most of the milage is highway? I personally would invest in the 60k mile service. Timing belt replacement is recommended at 90k miles. Take a look at this link for service details: http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/Mainten...ng.secnav.8.1.*
  11. I have a black/tan 98' ES300. I am very pleased with its performance and reliability. The only issue I had was with the EGR valve going bad at 80k; causal agent was carbon build-up. Aside from that, it has been great. If I could do it over again, I would have bought the ES with NAV and HID's. Also, I like the taillights on the 97-99 but would rather have the 00-01 taillights.
  12. The GS may carry more weight but its a powerful car. Try test driving a newer model 01-05 GS430...very impressive car.
  13. The air filter should be replaced every 12-15k miles but it really depends on your driving conditions. You can easily replace the air filter and it only costs about $15. There has been a lot of debate with the topic of fuel filters. The manufacture suggests that the fuel filter in all Toyota's and Lexus are lifetime filters that need not be replaced unless your car is experiencing specific fuel issues. Some people replace them some dont. If your car is working fine just pop a bottle of SEAFOAM ($5 at Advance Auto) into your gas tank for regular maintance every 5k miles. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  14. Cost me a total of $325 to replace the EGR valve at Toyota. My car is a 98' model and I believe your car doesn't an EGR valve (99'-01'). You might want to check you manual. Not sure how much a IACV costs?
  15. My ES 300 experienced carbon build up which resulted in stalling. The longer I waited the more it stalled. Eventually had to replace the EGR valve. Have your mechanic inspect/clean your throttle body, EGR and IACV. Also pop in a bottle of SEA FOAM ($5 at Advance Auto) into your gas tank. It may be fuel or carbon related. This will help narrow down the problem.
  16. Take a look at this forum: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ck++paint++soft
  17. From what I hear, the LS is not only a great car but its considered by many to be the most reliable Lexus model on the market. I believe the maint. for all Lexus's are the same.
  18. They usually use interchangeable parts but double check the part numbers with Toyota & Lexus. I am sure Toyota will be able to give you a firm answer.
  19. Call your local Lexus and Toyota dealer and ask for a price quote on the 60K service. I believe the spark plugs and select fluid replacements are a recommended service plus the other standard items. I highly recommend you have this service done. Take a look: (prices are not accurate) http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/maintenance.do
  20. I am not sure if they are HID's but I am certain the yellow light in the GS430 is produced b/c the housing of the fog's are tinted yellow. The actual bulb itself is probably white. You might have to replace the fog's in order to get a different look. Some of the guys/gals with a GS430 may be able to offer more insight. Personally, I love the yellow look and would recommend u keep them. If you are firm on getting rid of them, you should exchange your fogs with someone else. You shouldn't have a problem finding someone.
  21. I agree, the Black Lexus paint has driven me nuts these past couple yrs. I also considered silver but honestly I dont like the Lexus silver look as much as I do on a silver BMW. I must admit, I would probably go with another Black/Black or Black/Ivory Lexus b/c ultimely its the sexiest color when clean. Go for the Black but take good care of her. When I purchase my next black car, I am going protect the front bumper (clear bra) from any chipping that may occur from highway driving. I am also going to avoid parrell parking on busy streets and I will wax my car every 3 months rather than every 6 months. I have the ivory interior now, which is a great look but expect to spend more time cleaning and maintaining the interior if you go with Ivory. Price you pay to look pretty.
  22. Congrad's on the new ES330. Enjoy!
  23. I also have a 98' ES300 and my EGR failed at 80k miles. Take a look at the attached pic to identify the EGR. I had my EGR manually cleaned by a mechanic after experiencing stalling, however, this didn't remedy the problem. Had to drop ~$350 to replace the joker. Most people consider cleaning the EGR a very simple task so it shouldn't cause you much pain to do it yourself. Try to use a the manual if you have one. Do a search and you will probably find many posts on this.
  24. Where are the "headlight adjusters" located on a 98' ES300?
  25. If money isn't a vital issue, I would consider you step up to a GS430...provides a great blend of Luxury and Sportiness. Just ask the guys on this forum.
