  1. My initial inclination to your statement "I leave my car running while I am fueling," isn't a good feeling at all. I have always been told to completely shut off the engine prior to fueling. I think this topic was discussed not to long ago but let me ask you this: what type of gas do you use (87...) and from what company (BP, Shell...)?
  2. I agree, Acura is cheaper and may be engineered to handle better than a Lexus. (Lexus is definitely not marketing the ES330 as a sporty car) Their intentions are golden for those drivers looking for a soft, luxurious, quiet and comfortable ride. Again, this is a personal opinion and preference, so that's why I would choose Lexus over Acura. One thing I must question is: Why do you believe the Lexus certified program doesn't save people enough money?
  3. I meant just the rear turn signals...the reverse lights are already clear. Thanks again.
  4. Where did you get the lip spoiler and how much did it cost u?
  5. Lexus vs. Acura? Lexus wins in my opinion. Why? Lexus has statistically proven to offer better quality, reliability, dealer treatment and strong resale value. Furthermore, you feel the personal satisfaction of driving a respected luxury brand. Dont get me wrong though, Acura is definitely a nice luxury car, however, I just dont think their quality is all there yet. Check out the Lexus Certified Program. It has a lot of benefits to offer plus you can save much more $$; again that's just my personal taste. The price will vary depending on what package/options are included. What are you interested in? Was it the Acura TL you were comparing the ES330 too?
  6. May you please smoke out the "rear turn signals and reverse lights" only. I am curious to know if that may look better? Thanks a lot.
  7. The price is considerably less than the competition and I believe the MSRP is $63,575 and the Invoice is $55,308. Even though you have less leverage with negotiating new car prices, call other Lexus dealers in the area and ask if they could beat the price.
  8. Life comes at you quick and the most painful events are unexpected. I personally enjoy warranties and paying for the peace of mind but it really depends on the person. Lexus is known for their reliability however, all high-end cars have their troubles. How long do you plan on keeping the car? This may help you decide on whether or not you want the warranty and if you end up selling the car before the warranty expires, you may be able to sell the warranty with the car. Make sure the warranty is transferrable. Which company is offering you the warranty for $1400? If you do a search you will find many threads pertaining to extended warranties...good luck.
  9. I experienced very similar events however my vehicle didnt completely shut off. I had to replace an EGR valve on my car.
  10. Most likely. Try a few more addresses you know will work to make sure things are working properly.
  11. I took a look at a few pictures of GS430's on ebay and havent been able to identify a levinson deck with an in-dash cd changer. You might want to call a Lexus Dealer and ask...
  12. Can you remove the 'clear' bras also or are they sealed to the body of the car?
  13. I believe they sell 'clear' bras at dealerships and online. I hear it works very well and is only visually noticable up close. Do a search to find out where you might be able to purchase the bra.
  14. Take a look at this link: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/lexus/rx400h/index.html
  15. I believe the 2006 model is going to be completely redesigned. If your interested in the current models definitely consider a certified Lexus. Not sure which year is best but logically it would make sense to buy the most recent yr. Check out edmunds.com for standard equipment, consumer reviews and feedback regarding the IS. You will get a clearer picture of which IS you want and then you can start shopping....
  16. It took the Best Buy tech only 2 min's to pull the radio out of my car (98 ES300). I had it replaced with an after market deck. It looked fairly easy to me...I wouldn't worry to much about it.
  17. A bit off the topic but I am in the market for a GS430. If I may ask, how much did you pay for the car and whom (dealer, private, auction) did you buy it from? I am amazed at the low mileage on your new GS! Thanks.
  18. I dont think a diagnostic test will be able to examine too much. The dealer or some other source may have a list of items to check for vehicles that have been involved in flash floods. Call the dealer and ask for suggestions on what they may be able to offer other than a diagnostic test. As a note: I had my ECU replaced for free by Lexus b/c I lost my master keys and couldn't make additional copies of my key without the master. I was only responsible for the labor (~$85).
  19. Sorry to hear about your experience. If in fact it is an ECU, it will cost you ~$1200 to replace the unit. Did you have Lexus fully examine your vehicle's condition? If not, you may want to consider doing it b/c the water could cause all sorts of damage to a vehicle including malfunctioning air bags, etc. (SAFETY) Have you contacted your insurance company? This might sound wrong and yes it would be dishonest but one thing you could do to save yourself from purchasing the ECU unit....well i better just keep my mouth shut....
  20. Check this site out: http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/consum...ts/odometer.htm
  21. If it were my choice, I would definitely go with the Lexus SC430 over the Cady. I think the XLS is over-priced and doesnt look nearly as good as the Lex...plus you can save the extra $$ on some other fun things...(chrome rims, trip to the beach, ) Also, the Lex seems to attract much more attention than the Cady....call the Lexus dealer and speak with the manager about your experience...you might be able to use this to your leverage.
  22. I like the frameless windows. I am more interested in adding chrome strips to the sides and possibly the bumpers such as the GS presented above.
  23. Are the after market chrome stripes ugly b/c they bulge out? I thought the chrome touch would give my car a little sparkle. Who sells these strips?
  24. I will try appling the glue. What does the manufacture use to keep the panel in its standard position? Glue or adhesive?
