  1. I'm in California. I'm told by a salesman that ALL 2006 GS 300 being shipped this month onward will have a rear spoiler automatically installed. I don't have a choice of getting one without the rear spoiler. Any knows if this is true, or is the salesman trying to pull my leg? Thanks in advance.
  2. I'm self employed, and my business is incorporated in California. Which is better for me? 1) lease the car from Lexus 2) buy the car under my name, and write off the "expense" of the monthly payments to my business? The credit union giving me the loan will not allow me to buy the car under the business. They would only do it under my personal name. What are the advantages and disadvantages for leasing? Thanks in advance.

  4. I'm looking at the 2006 GS 300, with the following: 1) moon roof 2) wheel locks 3) floor mats 4) no NAV, no upgraded sound, no backup camera What is the best "out of the door" price, before tax, that the dealer is offering you? Thanks.
  5. Since the 2006 GS will cost me about $7000 more than the 2005 model, I'm considering buying the 2005 GS 300 instead. There doesn't seem to be that much improvement in looks between the two. The 2005 model has 220 HP, while the 2006 model has a little more juice. The 2005 doesn't have the keyless technology. I don't care for the NAV nor backup camera. The 2006 model will keep this exact design for at least the next 4 years right? What other major things will I lose if I go with the 2005 GS model?
  6. I just got this quote from a California Lexus dealer. Is this a rip off price for the 2006 GS 300 (RWD)? a) no navigation system, no upgraded sound, no back up camera B) standard wheels included c) moon roof included d) wheel locks included e) mats included $43879 + tax + misc = $48200 out of the door I believe the dealer invoice for this car is around $37752. MSRP is around $42,900. They say the demand is high, so they're asking me for $48,200, out of the door. Some questions: 1) What number do you suggest I should counter at? 2) Do you think if I wait til summer, the price will lower at all? 3) I know I can get a great deal on the 2005 model. Is the performance on the 2006 GS that much better than the 2005? If I go with the 2005 model, what will I lose out? Thanks.
  7. I live in California, and the new 2006 GS 300 (Rear Wheel Drive) comes standard with the moon roof and high density lights. I don't want the following options: 1) navigation system 2) upgraded sound 3) back up camera 4) upgraded wheels I do want the following: 1) floor mats 2) trunk and cargo mats 3) wheel locks I think the dealer also charges a few hundred dollars for "advertising fees". A few questions: 1) What is the dealer invoice price for the 2006 GS 300? 2) Does the dealer get about $2000 rebate from Lexus for the car? 3) How much should I offer the dealer for the "out of the door price", before taxes, with the about criteria? thanks.
  8. Does anyone know much about the standard alarm that comes with the 2006 GS 300? Is it simply the one that will sound if it's on and someone tries to open the door? Or if someone breaks the window, will the alarm go off? Any special features with the alarm on the GS? Thanks.
  9. On the 2006 GS300, what do you think about these 2 choices: 1) black exterior with beige interior OR 2) silver exterior with grey interior here are the photos: http://www.lexus.com/models/gs/gallery_exterior_colors.html http://www.lexus.com/models/gs/gallery_interior_colors.html I feel that the black exterior goes well with beige interior. The only problem is that dirt shows really easily on black exterior. I plan to keep the car in the garage at night, and I intend to wash the car about twice a month. Is black exterior a good choice then? The silver exterior seems to be easier to maintain, but seems to look plain as compared to black exterior. The grey interior doesn't seem to look as nice as the beige. My only fear is that with black exterior, I have to constantly clean the car. By the way, why is it that there are much more black exterior sedans for the Mercedes, but I just don't see much black exterior sedans for the Lexus GS? Your inputs would be appreciated.
  10. I went back to the dealer today. I was driving about 10 MPH and pressed the ON/OFF button. The engine turned off just like that! This is scary if I were driving 75 MPH and someone accidentally pressed the ON/OFF button.
  11. For example, it's dark at night. It begans to rain. A passenger in the car tries to help out and presses a few switches to turn on the windshield wiper, and accidentally presses the ON/OFF switch because he's not familiar with the car. If your statement is correct, the engine will just die on the freeway. I just can't imagine Lexus would make it so simple to cause an accident on the freeway.
  12. With the keys, people at least can see the keys and won't touch the keys. With a button, it's so easy for a person not familiar with this car to accidentally press this button while playing around with the buttons in the car. Most cars DO NOT have a button as an ignition device. I predict this will cause some deaths on the freeway because a passenger accidentally presses this button while a car is traveling at a fast speed. Thus, causing an accident on the freeway. I'm going to the dealer and try this out at a speed of around 10 MPH in a parking lot and see if the engine does indeed turn off.
  13. I was on "Drive". My foot was on the brake. The engine was on. I pressed the ON/OFF button, and the engine turned off just like that. I'm afraid to try the other test. What would happen in this scenario: If I was on "Drive". I'm driving on the freeway. A friend was in the passenger seat pressing certain buttons and accidentally pressed the ON/OFF button? Will the car's engine just turn off on the freeway? I asked the salesman and he said he didn't know.
  14. For the 2006 GS 300, in order to get the upgraded Mark Levinson sound system, I also have to purchase the navigation system. I listened to the the Mark Levinson speakers and don't think it's worth it to buy that option. Are my ears that bad that I can't really tell a difference? Can you tell a big difference in the quality of the sound of the regular speakers versus the Mark Levison system?
  15. http://www.lexus.com/models/gs/gallery_exterior_colors.html http://www.lexus.com/models/gs/gallery_interior_colors.html For an exterior color, I intend to go with Mercury Metallic (this is silver). The only 2 matching interior colors are: 1) ash leather (grey color) with black maple wood trim 2) black leather with red walnut maple wood trim The grey interior leather looks fine, but the black maple wood trim has a white wood grain in it. This makes the maple wood trim look dirty for some reason. If anyone seen this, let me know what you think. So if I don't go with the grey interior, I have to go with black. I'm just afraid the black seats will be very hot in the summer time. I live in California, so it tends to be warm throughout the year. Your opinions are greatly appreciated.
