  1. I have a '99 ES300 with ~169,000 miles on it. I have a Haynes manual and would like to learn how to change my own spark plugs. First, what tools do I need to accomplish this? I had read in a haynes manual that one of the last steps to get the plug back in is to use some type of tube to get them on. I'm confused by then. Does anyone know of any good videos or step by steps to do this job? Apologize for being such a noob but I have love my car.
  2. My 99 ES300 has had this problem for like 60,000 miles now. The mechanic told me that the piece on the door that has the wood and the window controls is what is actually is bad. Apologize for not knowing the name of it. I believe it is a $200-300 part OEM. If you replace that, then it will work correctly, but I'm too lazy to pay for the fix.
  3. Hey all, my keyless entry remote for my 1999 ES300 broke off my keychain. The plastic piece that goes onto the keychain snapped off. The keyless remote still works, but I wanted to know if it were possible to get a replacement and how I would go about doing it and how much it might cost? It's annoying to keep the keyless in my pocket. Any help would be greatly appreciative.
  4. My 99 Lexus ES300 with 105,000 miles has been slipping a little bit when im around the 60-65 mph speeds and when I click on the accelerator. It starts really hesitating every once in awhile. Lately it has been okay. How often should I be getting the transmission fluid changed? I think I got it changed at 70,000ish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. If I were to pop open the tank, where would it be located if you had to describe? Sorry I am very not smart with cars.
  6. What does this pin look like and where it located on it if I were to open it? Thanks
  7. I drive 99 ES300. Everytime I click the gas button to pop the lid, it will not open. If i wedge a key in between almost prying it open and then click the gas button itll open. What do I need to adjust inside the door to fix this where when I click the button it will pop open? Thanks for the help in advance, Hern
  8. Well, it turns out I needed not one but two O2 Sensors and he had to align some kind of trac something that was off. Thanks for all the help gentlemen.
  9. Hey all, I have a 99 ES300. So it was Thursday (2 days ago) and I'm driving down the interstate to my interview thinking about how I have to go get my emissions done tonight so I can renew my tag that expires this month. Low and behlow the check engine / TRAC OFF lights come on. I'm not experienced in cars, but I know this is a problem. For a month or two there's been some hesitation/slip feeling occasionally. What can I do to get this fixed while minimizing cost? I don't have $1,000 I can drop on this due to being a broke student. I know you guys are experts so I wanted to get you input. Thanks for the help! :) Hern
  10. I went from driving a 94 pontiac grand am and I will never buy anything but Lexus or BMW now. I'm currently driving a '99 lexus es300 with 87,000 miles on it. It rides very smooth. Up to 2000 year models I think it has 210 horse power. They're more for the ride not so much power, but still more than your current maxima.
  11. A local mechanic told me, and your search on this forum is not very good. I did as you said but mostly brings up air filters not fuel filter. Does anyone else know why/when to perform this maintenance? More importantly how ;) ← Anyone ?

  13. Hey guys, I was told to go ahead and do air filter and fuel filter. I drive a 1999 ES300 w/ 86,000 miles on it so the 90k is quickly coming. I'm going to go buy an air filter and pop it in this weekend. I was also told to do the fuel filter. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it something I myself could do or should I leave to the mechanic to do. What purpose does it serve?? Thank you Herns
  14. Hey guys, My 90k is coming up in 5000 miles and I need some major help. A guy I know is going to do it all for me pretty much at cost for all parts and barely anything for doing it all. He's going to do it out of his house I think. Anyways, he told me to go ahead and buy liek fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, and one other filter. What all should I have done? I told him Tune up (spark plugs), timing belt and exterior belts, thermostat and water pump. What else should I go ahead and have done ?
  15. I have a 99 ES300 and a couple stations work like a charm. Many though come in and go out constantly though and some often do not come in at all. I have tested all of the stations on my parents cars and they work fine. Do you think I need to replace my antenna and if so where in the world is it? I don't get why some stations work fine but many have noise and come in an go out constantly. Any help will be most greatly appreciated.
