  1. Welcome! If you have Nak, it'll say it to the right of the clock. Otherwise, it'll just have Lexus Premium Sound marked. I've seen very few with Nak, and most of them have all of the options: AVS(air suspension), heated seats, trac, etc. You can see Lexus Prem Sound next to the clock:
  2. Wow, what an excellent pic!! :o Great color; it seems like beige is pretty popular for this gen! Keep up the great work!
  3. $8,500 seems very high-around here atleast. KBB lists a private party value of under $7k. I probably wouldn't go over $7k, but I could imagine it'd be hard to get the seller to come down 20%. The ECU should be fine(I think it's mainly a 95/6 issue), and brake rotors only need to be changed as needed-feeling a pulse when braking is usually a sign. Have you driven the car yet? A through test drive should do all of the talking for the car's condition and what repairs will be needed. ;) Basically, if you can feel/hear anything other than the Nak during the drive, something is not right! B) Consider the following repairs: valve cover gaskets, cam/crank seals, blackened climate lcd, dead speedo/tach needles, torn lower control arm bushings, torn strut rod bushings, likely power steering leaks, rack and pinion possibly.
  4. That's a great site; I'm sending to everyone I know! :D It seemed reasonably accurate. I was just suprised that better coverage of I20 in LA wasn't provided since approx. 100+ miles are death trapped. On most days they have groups of 3 patrol cars(st police and the locals) sitting in the median waiting for their next victim and causing traffic to slow to under the posted limit of 70. :chairshot: I hear it's so bad because it's a popular route for drug dealers to take in from Texas.
  5. She looks awesome!!! B) Cashmere+gold emblems= a winning combo! You should get a floor jack and bend the droop out of that lower valance, and she'll be perfect. Nice work!
  6. So, you mean to tell me you haven't been over 70mph(crazy tranny gearing!)? j/k
  7. Anyone who wants to know just shoot me a PM! j/k We have: 1991 Toyota 4x4 Pickup (brother) 1991 Accord (sister) 1994 ES300 (mine and dad) 1995 LS400 (me, and strictly me only.) 1995 Cobra Convertible with custom auto trans (parents) 1999 Suburban LT (parents)--real POS...infact, it's broken down as we speak :chairshot: For off roading/trail riding/driving through mud: '79 Honda CR125R Elsinore '01 Polaris Trail Boss 325-auto trans...made with pride by our friends in Canada! 8. Yep, I do it all the time, but mine holds 5gb which is a lot of pics. It's really great because I can get pics off of my Mac and put them on my laptop(dell). It'd definantly work if you have a functional USB--all these little USB drives do is act like high speed, digital floppy disks!
  9. Does it have a USB port? If so, a jump drive or something like that would work. I have a Seagate 5gb pocket hd that I carry in my pocket that is awesome! B)
  10. I'm just giving you a hard time, speed demon! ;)
  11. Come on now, out of the countless times you've made fun of me for driving slower than your grandmother, you really think I use ECT Power? :whistles: If Lexus put it in the cars, I'm sure it can't hurt anything other than fuel econ. :whistles: I don't really see the use of ECT if your Lexus has tranny intelligence; they pick up on your driving habits and start shifting accordingly. I notice that mine adapts very quickly to my driving habits. At any rate, when I want to "go," I just plant my size 14 shoe on the gas!
  12. That criteria would cross out the ES from my experiences. I've had far too many electrical glitches to list on my ES and tranny problems are reported too often on the ES. If I had to pick a certain year range for ES cars, I'd say atleast a '94 because they have the aluminum headed engine. I'd go for a LS; their mechanicals seem more heavy duty which makes for a very long lasting car. My LS has 252,5xx miles and runs like a dream. Eventhough it has an 8 cylinder engine, it still gets great gas mileage if you don't drive it like a drag racer. On any old Lexus ES/LS, expect worn suspension bushings, leaking/oozing valve covers and cam/crank seals, dead speedo/tach needles, some steering rack issues, widespread p/s leakages in 90-94 LS's that drip on the alternator and ruin it too. Lexus cars are reliable and have refinement levels that very few can touch but they are not trouble free. B) Any reasons why you want to get rid of your Merc?
  13. 252.5k on my '95 LS400-a very reliable, well engineered car. B) I can still get to 60 in the factory specified time and get 20/26 fuel econ. The black paint hasn't held up anywhere near as well as I though it would, but everything else is first rate. I plan to buy a '98-'99 or '04-'05 LS after I finish college and grad school. Only, 130k on my '94 ES!
  14. I'm not positive about the seller, but I think it is the same guy in the link above. I had a locksmith do it though I didn't ask the dealer. I'm not sure if any locksmith can do it because the locksmith told me how expensive the machinery is that is required. In fact, they were hesitant to do the cut since the key blade is not a hard metal, so they were afraid that the machine was going to melt the key and ruin their machine. They ended up doing it though with no problems.
  15. They do have one for Lexus(I guess they just don't have any available right now.); I bought one for my ES. I had to pay more to get it cut($45) than what the key costed! They are cheaply made. The one I have is probably almost 2 years old, and the blade wiggles a lot, and I miss my remote function when I have just that key! I gave that key to the Lex dealer once when it was in for service; my service advisor was dumbfounded --wait, wooh, where did you get that? We don't sell those here! Here's a pic:
  16. I think it came as a rare option(atleast around here) in '97 or '98 and on.
  17. What are dealers knocking off LC's msrp? I looked at one the other day while the dealer(Toyota) was changing my oil, and I was taken back to see a $65k sticker. The LX is not far from the LC's price, fully loaded LX for $68k. I'd have a problem of picking one over the other because they both look so damn good! The Avalon obviously has tremendous bang for the buck but isn't meant to compete with the LS430! As I see it, it comes down to a few main differences. How important is it to you to have the Lexus name and prestige? The materials in the Avalon won't be up to the LS's, but is that something that will bother you? The LS is a $55k+ car while the Avalon is a $26k+, so some things are going to be lacking in the Avalon. I've had good service experiences with Toyota; they always treat me well(better than some Lex dealers), but they don't give loaners, wash your car when they return it to you, etc. I just saw a black Avalon, and it looked awesome! B) I'd go drive the LS and then drive the Avalon. What option package does the 430 have that you are considering? It'll all come down to your personal preference since both cars are clearly winners!
  18. This should give you some ideas: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...wtopic=9885&hl= I think it's a good protector, but it would take away from the 95-97's beautiful hood. The lines on the hood are very sharp and dramatic, and the bra would take away from that. Maybe the invisible one would be an option?
  19. I had Mikado repair mine in my '95. They did it for $150(shipping extra) which included the replacement of the LCD and all new backlighting. Here's their contact info(I dealt with Sammy): Mikado Technology Company 1435 Huntington Avenue, Suite C South San Francisco CA 94080 1-888-964-5236
  20. NC, what you described sounds just like what my ES was doing before we had the lca's changed. Did the dealer ever inspect your control arms? They should be able to tell you if the bushings are cracked or not.
  21. Congrats Gumart!! B) Do you have any pics? What kind of projects are you in for with your new LS?
  22. My engine is nonexistant-there is absolutely no noise whatsoever :) , but I think I might be getting a little more wind noise than what I should be getting. I need to go drive some other LS's of my era or get someone to take a ride with me to see if my standards are too high or if I have a problem.
  23. I'm glad it turned out to be something other than the water pump!!! I don't kid myself, and I told you that already; I suppose the part where i said "that's just not the case" was a little unclear, so let me reiterate what I said before. I put it in all caps and bold for easy reference:
