  1. I know; I hope I didn't imply it . The 03 Lincoln TC is by far the most comfortable and roomy car I've ever driven; I've never been in an LS4 though. I've also heard that about cars(TC, Crown Vic) with the 4.6 and good maint. going on forever.
  2. I like how I'd be able to set it to 44psi, and let it do the rest. I'm going to have to get one of those too! Alan, I think you should show the pump manufacturer this post for some deserved comission$$$$ !
  3. I dunno if higher quality was the right word choice; I suppose more elegant and/or classy would be more on target B) . Geez 246k on a Taurus?!?!?! That's incredible! I was looking at the Taurus line when I was first car shopping...because of the interior room and Niagra Falls style depreciation(a 3y/o model is well under 10k). The 2000 is my favorite; I love the styling and the simple, cheap, Hetrz-style interior. Your generation though is especially neat beacuse on the Duratech engines are dual exhausts B)(you have the Duratech or Vaulcan?) . Ford doesn't spend much on their car line because well...they don't need to. They know that Hertz and local Police officers will buy up Tauruses, Focui, and Crown Vics, so why pump millions in when you don't need to? Besides, they also know that if you want a good cheap car, you'll get a Camry which has a lot of $ in it. Ford saves all of their money for the F series trucks(how bout that new F150 B) ). With 246k you should just be happy with it moving out of the driveway ! (I'm not knocking Ford...246 is a lot of miles!. my mom and sister both have mustangs which have been very, very reliable little cars) BTW, how tall are you 90LS4?
  4. Thanks guys; yall are just the crowd I wanted to hear from :D . It's awesome it hear from someone that is taller than me for a change . I know; I'm with you on the seats; I hear a lot of people complain about the 1st gen seats, but it's all so preferential. mejojo, is it uncomfortable to drive in stop-and-go traffic which is about 85% of what I'll be doing? Hmmm, acf, sounds like I need to get a 95+ LS, but I'll have to wait for the lottery until then I think my only option is a 'vintage' Lex (lets not forget I'm a poor[all of my $ is in the ES...I hope I'll be able to get some of it back!] h.s. senior :( ) . thanks geaux tigers!!!
  5. I'm just looking for what you gave me ;) , your $.02 about the LS's comfort and how it would suit a rather tall person like me. I guess you could call the ES an extreme luxury Camry except for the ES250 which was very, very similar to its Camry counterpart. They(ES300 and Camry) share the same platform, engine, and tranny as well as little things inside like turn signal levers, etc. Almost everything else is completely different...brakes, suspension, seats, dash, interior and exterior styling, interior/exterior material quality, and the dreaded pilarless windows and high trunk height, etc. Like I said, it's a superb car, but it's just too small :( , or maybe I'm too big ?!?!?!? I agree Camry's are excellent cars and values; my friend's 95 V6 Camry(I was just shocked at the smoothness of the powertrain!) is what sold me on the Toyota/Lexus lineup! As a side note, how do you like your Taurus?
  6. Thanks for your replys 90&99LS! It's good to hear from a Camry owner because they are similar to the ES in someways(it's a touchy subject: ESvsCamry!). The differences you were talking about were on here, but they pretained to the 95-00 LS's which I would really like, but they are definantly out of the question($). However, the breakdown of 90-94 was just what I was looking for :) ! Thanks for the overall summary. Keep it comming :D
  7. As yall can tell by my signature, I am a proud owner of an ES. I absolutely love everything about the car except for one crutial, crutial thing. It's too freakin' small! I love the ride, powertrain, handling, style, etc., but it's just too small. So, I came up with a good solution: why not get an LS? I hear everyone say that they are very similar to the ES in that they are about comfort and smoothness which are what I am looking for. Plus, it's got a V8 and full window pillars(mcv10 and 20 guys know what I'm talking about!). I am 6'3. My head barely clears the roof in the ES, but the limited legroom(or the lack there of) is what kills me! How much bigger is the LS in comparison to the ES? Or, I guess I'm looking for feedback from everyone about the comfort of their LS-especially in regards to head and legroom(I know a lot of you don't like the seats, but that's such a preferential thing to me!). I just don't know how much I can take the small ES anymore; my right leg literally gets cramps which ruins a teriffic car! (Yall are probably asking why I even got the car in the first place, but you put any 16y/o in a Lex and he[especially me] will melt!! I've had the car for about 7months, and I've poured about $2k of my own money into replacing the leather on the front seats and steering wheel as well as other various items in the car like the beloved hood struts and numerous other things. I bought her for $6.3k, so I think I'll be able to sell it for a bit more which will help get me into a LS) Lastly, I searched, with no luck, for some differences between the different years(or maybe gens?) of the 90-94 LS's. Yall have any info here? Are any particular years in 90-94 better than others? thank you so much for your help, Blake
  8. I hope you can get your car back together soon, Lex. I hate having to drive anything(especially Suburbans...what awful machines!) but my Lex. It's easy to get spoiled to their smooth powertrain and ride. Another thing that is different from a lot of other cars, is the brake pedal firmness...it is just about perfect to me...not spongy but not a brick either. Good luck BTW, I'm sure JPI can get you a nice discount on the OEM gaskets.
  9. What acf said, but Steve(our detailing chief) said that the Lexol conditioner will soften the coating which will make it "seem" softer. Plus, Lexol smells like new leather :D . I can confirm this theory! ;) Use the woolite on the seats too...worked great for me, and many say it's better than other leather cleaners. I agree that the extreme tire shine looks great, but on my ES, the brakes put out dust like maniacs...this product is spray on, so it's hard to get just the wheels. What this all equals out to is a pain in the !Removed! the next time you wash your car. I recommend Meguairs Tire Endourance. It's in a bottle...the product is like gel and smells like grapes! It's easy to apply and lasts a long time. You should tell us fellow Lex owners about your new car in the ES section and in here. I'm guessing a 2000 ES300 with the Platinum package; just going off of a hunch ;) . Have any pics?
  10. I know. That White Diamond(or something like that) color they use is gorgeous; however, a Caddy is the last car I would buy :P .
  11. I tried again, and I got the same thing. It gives me a list of car dealerships. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here <_< . I looked up New Orleans, LA (and Metarie...a small town close by) and I get a list of new car dealerships.
  12. acf, did you have to go to a dealer to get the dent pulled? I looked at the link you gave, and the only shops they have down here are at dealerships <_< . Your car looks great!!
  13. Do we all have roadside assistance...or is it a Xyears/Xmiles thing?
  14. Thanks, that's what I was thinking; I just wanted to double check! What did you use to clean the oil off of the chassis? When I first saw oil down, there I thought I had an oil leak. But, after this oil change, it all makes sense now....when they change the filter, it drips everywhere. What a relief!
  15. I had a Toyota dealer change my oil yesterday; they treated my well and the service was quick. However, when I got home, I poped the hood to make sure they put the cap back on(it happened once on another car) and there was oil all over the place by the filter as well as smoke. I guessing it is from when they took the filter off. Has anyone had this problem too? Should I have gone back to yell at them?
  16. Has anyone changed out their weather stripping before? Is this a complicated task? I just can't take the wistling anymore, and I'm tired of fighting with the Endourance(which is awesome for the tires!) and silicon spray which have helped only a little. I'm confident new stripping will help because my current stripping is caved in in several places. I don't think my windows are out of alignment because they nearly touch the car, and if the stripping doesn't help, I'll just let the dealer do it...they said it would cost less than $150 depending on how long it actually takes them to do the adjustments.
  17. Geez, Lexus of New Orleans told me $900 for just the timing belt and water pump . I think I'm going to take mine to a Toyota dealer...I wish I knew when it was last changed. I think I'll just change it anyways at 120k.
  18. GM gets a lot of crap(and because their cars aren't so great to begin with) because they use the same vehicles w/o serious changes across the entire lineup...mainly just the emblems. Take a look at every single one of their cars, trucks, and SUV's they are all shared at 2 and sometimes 4x(like the Trailblazer and the Vette too is shared w/ the Caddy XLR[which may be an exception as far as this arguement goes]). Toyota takes the time and money to differentiate each one of their shared platform cars whereas each of the GM cars are the exact same cars. The Camry and ES are quite different. My friend has a 95 V6 Camry(I owe it to him that I have an ES because before I fell in love with his Camry, but found a good deal on an ES) and it is worlds of different from the ES. The ES has a much smoother, softer ride while the Camry has a sportier, firmer(as far as ride) feel. Not to mention the previously said brakes, exterior style, interior, suspension tuning, brakes, etc. Anyone that says that the Camry and ES are the same deserve this :chairshot: for their ignorance. People are just jealous of your Lexus when they say this; I get it all the time at school especially because I have 3 friends with Camry's...I don't need to respond because I know that it is a load of .
  19. I'm glad it all worked out well for you :D ; good luck with finding the electrical problem.
  20. I had to take the ashtray out too. Take a look ;) : http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...1566&hl=ashtray
  21. Do these filters really make a difference in filtering out bad smells outside? Or are they more for dust and pollen? I think I found the compartment for it in my'94 next to the gas pedal...it looks like a very big white box.
  22. They are definantly replaceable; here is a similar post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=4402&hl=lights. I think you just pull the whole unit out, take it apart to get access to the lights, and replcae the burnt ones. I don't know where you can get the bulbs <_< . Welcome to the club, and enjoy the 'new' Lex :D . What color is your '94?
  23. Do yall know if there is any way to tighten the door on the ashtray because mine is loose and rattles over bumps. It's not going to fall off, but there is a little play; is this normal and/or fixable?
  24. It wouldn't suprise me if it was the head gaskets because my brother has a '91 Toyota 4x4 truck with the 3.0 V6(12 valves though) that had bad head gaskets. The worst part is he and my dad changed them, and a few weeks later we get a notice in the mail from Toyota saying that they are recalling the head gaskets and bring it to the dealer to have them do it for free .
  25. Sure, I was in the same predicament when my remote key battery went. After spaking with a nice lady at Radio Shack, she explained that the front letters have something to do with manufacturing. Just look for one with the same numbers. Good luck!
