  1. I know exactly what yall are talking about!!! I had a long post on my check engine light a while back...although I didn't mention this symptom my did just this...I also had a very rough idle. It's like the tranny has gone over the deep end for the first 5-10 minutes the car is on...I thought it just needed to warm-up too, and it did get better as the car warmed up. Like piggy says, "you push and you push on the pedal...doesn't respond..it's like its dead......." Mark is your check engine light on? When I had this problem, my check engine light was on, and I did what stevie told me...go to Autozone and let them read the codes. I found out that my egr valve was getting excessive flow. I changed numerous parts with no luck. Then, I changed this little piece called the vacuum switching valve(some stupid $120 part), and now needless to say my problems are over. The car is warm in a minute vs. almost 10 and the transmission shifts much, much smoother. I'm happy I finally got that fixed :D ...I hate staring at the little engine light ! I second the vacuum ideas.
  2. Piggy what's a double locking trunk ? My main complaint other than the poorly placed cup holders and power outlet...I wonder what the thought process was...or the lack there of , the trunk opening on the 1st gen. ES3 absolutley sucks!!! It's soo small and narrow; atleast in '97 they fixed this. Also a trunk release on the key would be nice. I loove the overall smoothness and refinement of the car especially in the engine and transmission. I also love the front and rear styling complimented with a great interior and a nice smooth ride makes for one great car :D !!!
  3. I don't know how many of yall subscribe to Motor Trend, but in this month's issue they did a test with the MB ML350 vs. Lex RX330 vs. Infiniti FX35(unfortunately the FX35 won). One of their complaints is that the RX330 has a "transmission filled with mayonaise." ...well I'm sure it's not funny to you guys with 02-03 ES's(and other 5speed auto Lex vehicles) .
  4. Does anyone have pictures of silverstars in their car(especially 92-96) turned-off? I want to see if the bulbs look blue in the projector. I would like to get some brighter bulbs, but not if the bulbs themselves are blueish...a rice thing to me(their take on HID since they can't afford the real things). I can't see s@#t with my lowbeams! Thanks
  5. Sorry Chris but I scooped Jimi's(speedracer959) wheel up about a week and a half ago :( . I'll be happy to pass it on to you when my wheel comes back from American Stitches. The cruise adaptor will work on 92-96, but the airbag won't fit.
  6. sk, it's a 1994. I guess a simplified version of the previous post is: I have hooks in the carpet but no holes in the mats.
  7. I was wondering if the oem floormats have the holes in them for the clips that keep them from sliding? I believe my current floormats are oem...they have Lexus and the L sewn in, but they do not have the hole for the clips, and I do have a hole in the floor for the clip. <_<
  8. Awesome car in my favorite generation :D even if it is conservative on the style side(to some of you)!!! MCV20 experts...is that Cashmere or did they change the beige for the new model year? Beige car with gold emblems....SWEET B)! I think it looks great!!! Great find Jimi
  9. When I was bored the other day, I read through some of the posts in the LS400/430 forum. They were having a discussion similar to this one. However, one or two of them said that on cars that have used nonsynthetic oils all of their lives should not switch over to synthetics; these members say that they have heard rumors of possible oil leaks from this situation....fact or fiction? For the mechanically uninclined ...what are the advantages of synthetic oils? I have a '94 ES with 108k should I switch?
  10. Congratulations on the the new ES Max!!! 1994, what a great year ;) ...that's what year I have too lol! What color is it(any pictures?)? Does she have any problems...like flickering needles or a grinding antenna(both very, very common problems)? Tell us some more about it!!! H8R is most definantly right...after this Lex you will only buy Lexi from here on out!
  11. Piggy, how do you like the GPS on the laptop(how accurate is it?)? Also, where did you get it? Thanks
  12. Also, "To deter theft of the vehicle, this system is designed to give an alarm and keep the engine from being started if any of the doors, trunk, and hood is forcibly unlocked or the battery terminal is disconnected and then reconnected while the vehicle is locked. The alarm blows the horn intermittently and flashes the headlights, tail lights and other exterior lights. the engine cannot be started because the starter circuit will be disabled." -Lex Owner's Manual I think I read in there too that the system is not active until approxamentaly 30 seconds after the car is locked(the method you use to lock the car doesn't matter). The security light should stay on then start blinking to let you know the car is armed. The window thing is a way to test it-according to the owner's manual. Anytime you lock the car the alarm should become active. B)
  13. How do you guys think gold emblems would look on my beige ES? I'm all ears.....
  14. While searching through ebay, I found another one. This one is a '94 with a '95-'96 rear end The guy said that while they were repairing it after one of its accidents the ABS light came on; then states "it's no big deal to fix"...yeah no big deal if you don't mind spending $500 at the dealer and doesn't the ABS light mean the brakes aren't going to perform the anti-locking function-major safety issue? I wonder if it was ever in a rear end collision(unless that was one hell of a side swipe...I don't know about body work, but why would they have to replace the whole rear end for a side swipe?). And I love how he concludes-to this effect: don't let the fact that this car has been in who knows how many accidents, and then it wasn't even repaired properly mechanically or bodily, but she drives o.k.! Go figure all 3 of the bids are from a user w/o feedback . Take a look http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2426250310
  15. Piggy, 92-94 had "ES300" on the lower part of the right tail light and 95&96 had it on the rightside of the trunk. I'm guessing that the car was in a rear collision or had work done on it, and the iddiots at the body shop put the worng tail lights in. I'm guessing this becuse it has a 95 or 96(or just 96?) engine cover, has the marked(lined) head lights, and square fog lights."Branded title history?"
  16. Ahh, I see; thanks :D ! I'll have to try and find some more upolsterers because one of the ones I called is the one that my local Lex dealer sends out the cars for upolstery work-maybe that's why they are so expensive.
  17. sk, "a place that does show cars"...what is that ?
  18. Thanks Jimi, I didn't even think of that :chairshot: !
  19. I called some local upolstrey shops for a price to get my two front leather seats recovered(the driver's seat has a hole in it where I can see the green foam inside :( ), and just about every shop told me between $800-$900 for the 2 front seats. Are these normal/reasonable prices?
  20. I guess some how the computer got restarted(dunno how?) or something a few days ago because the light is back. It always takes mine two days to come back and grace me with its presence.
  21. Stevie, I think you're talking about www.american-stitches.com-I think they're somewhere in Texas. You take off your dried cracked wheel, mail it to them, and they recover it in leather or leather and wood(I think they have a few other options too). I'm about to have mine done; they gave me a price of $260 for just leather.
  22. Oh yeah...still no light(knock on wood). I should have worded that a little better...I meant that the light turned off after I filled up. Jimi, I bought the plugs; I had to get a bank loan first ; now I just need to go and change them. I'm pretty sure I don't have plug wires; I think I have coil packs <_< -do they go bad? I don't think my O2 sensors are bad; I had the code read, and they said that it is getting excessive egr flow. Maverick,From the sounds of things I think we're having the exact same problem. I've got the the defective part narrowed down to the two that you've listed, VSV and charcoal canister. I usually don't overfill the tank, but this time I did-I went a click or two extra after the first click. What did you have changed? My check engine light comes on and off from time to time did yours?...Tell me more B) .
  23. This car drives me nuts !!! Today while driving the check engine light went off, and don't ask me how either. This has happened before, and I'm expecting the light back in the next few days. The funny thing is the three or four times this has happened it was right after I filled up the gas tank <_< . Any thoughts?
  24. Stevie, it' the Maxell CD-340 with Thunderon Brush System. I got it at Walgreens, but I'm sure WalMart has it for less than the $9 I paid for it ;) . Good luck!
