I think you would want the WOT to try and jump out of the garage. :D I read more about sudden acceleration and the temporary fixes Lexus proposes and just all of a sudden the other day got in and took out the floor mat. I found that the hooks could be turned and the mat could possibly slide forward. Also when leaving the car for service someone could screw up the mat while cleaning the car. I decided that erring on the side of caution would be better. Maybe even go out and practice putting the car in neutral as well. Maybe this should be part of our driving "experience" no matter what the cause of the acceleration problems is.

  3. After further study and thought I have removed the drivers' side floor mat from my car. Now they're going to cut pedals and later put new pedals and a brake override system. Geesh.

  5. Though I appreciate you pointing that out, your answer was not helpful at all.... To make matters worse, the guy who sold me the car is completely ignoring my calls, voice mail and and my text message I sent him the other day... I would have answered my own question, yes, but the old owner not returning my calls is what is making me nervous.... We paid quite a bit of cash for this car. Is this something that could potentially cost us a lot of money to fix? You said the tech was the lemon. You're pretty well stuck to keep taking it back till they get things right. The check VSC will usually come on with any CEL. It sounds like the car has gone in to "limp mode" to protect the engine against some fault. Get the CEL read and we can look it up to see what it is. If it were mine, I'd clean the MAF sensor first and see if it starts running right after that. This would be the simplest and most likely cause.
  6. I'm not sure where those drains go but some older models went through the trunk and out under the car. It may be clogged on the outlet end.
  7. The should be able to fix that. They might replace the radio. The seat squeak is a known problem.
  8. The seals can dry out if they aren't lubricated every six months or so. But I'm inclined to agree with the guys that think it's a plugged drain.

  11. My Firebird and Civic had the same kind of hooks. I drove them a total of 10 years without any problems. If people can't put them in right or follow instructions not to put other mats on top, then they maybe shouldn't be driving either.
  12. Mine are hooked in, been there for 4 years except for taking out to clean. They are staying there.
  13. What do you mean covering the TPM warning light with a piece of electrical tape? Should I still get Lexus to reprogram it so I don't get any warnings, etc.? If you are using the original TPM then you shouldn't have to reprogram anything unless there is a difference or more than 4 PSI for the new tires. Even at that, you can use the 2 tire set feature on the IS and re initialize the PSI for your snow tires. It's all in the owners manual.
  14. I wouldn't buy any protection package. You can do all that stuff yourself. If you want to invest more in the car buy the extended warranty.
  15. I scuffed one stock 18" rim. I've never seen any bubbling. I sanded it a little and put some aluminum paint on the scuff to that may have protected it.

  20. There is a spec on the rotor thickness in the tech manual. If they can be turned and stay within tolerance, they usually will be. If you go out and heat em up and warp really badly, they aren't worth turning anyway. It kinda depends on the driver.
  21. Bring your car up to the potholed roads of the northeast and give it a month and it will be singing like a canary.... haha Get on their butts and make em fix the roads. You all pay plenty of taxes from what I hear.

  23. They must have been really careful putting together the early 06 models. Mine was one of the first, bought in Oct of 05 and has never had any of the noise problems i have read about here.

  25. If the tires were put on the original rims with the original sensors then you should be ok. You might want to check and see if the tire PSI is within normal range. Also initialize the setting on your dash per the owners manual to make sure.
