  1. Yes there is. I've just called them- they have done some Lexus fob battery changes- don't know if they have done mine until they see it. thanks for the tip. I'm guessing Lexus would charge $65 to change 2 $3 batteries. Will I need to have the car reprogrammed to match it to the fob after the battery is changed (or vice-versa)?
  2. I need to change the batteries on the remote for my 2009 IS250. Can this be done by the owner- without damage to the remote? Are the batteries easily available? Would someone describe how to get the remote opened without breaking it? thanks
  3. Would someone recommend a website (or Ebay dealer) where I can buy a sun shield for the front windshield, that fits an 09 IS250- exactly? The dealers are making too much markup these, especially after what they are getting for service fees. I want to make sure I get one that was designed for an IS250- as opposed to one that fits many cars. Some of these reflective sun shields collapse under their own weight when they get hot. This happened to shield in my other car. I'd like to get a better quality one for the Lexus. Thanks for any referrals.
  4. Has anyone here done a DVD update on the Lexus, or is this something only a dealer should do? I've just noticed this http://www.lexpartsworld.com/Scripts/prodV...p?idproduct=629 but want to know where I can check for the version on the DVD in my car. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the info. It will probably be a long time until we receive the recall letter, since it affects so many cars.
  6. My wife's coworker bought floor mats for her Lexus, which are mostly rubber as opposed to carpet, for the rainy winter months here in California. I never buy anything from dealers unless i have no choice. Are there any websites you can recommend for Lexus non-carpeted floor mats or accessories in general? Thanks
  7. I California, we pay a minimum of .20 per gallon for 91 octane. I have not seen anything higher than 91 here, but it's possible it may be at a few special stations. More than likely, the price for premium is .25 more, but I usually buy at Costco because this is the cheapest. My wife drives 25 miles one way to work, so we will be spending more than $100 a year extra on premium. I'm hoping she wont have to fill the tank more than once a week.
  8. This should probably be a pinned message if it was already answered. I know mechanics will tell everyone not using premium gas wont hurt the engine, but it will knock like crazy. Is anyone here NOT using premium gas? Is 89 octane good enough?
  9. Thanks. I've finally got around to re-programming my Homelink todya. These instructions worked great. I could finally see the "learn button" straing me in the face, which wasn't there the first time I looked ;-)
  10. I've followed the owners manual very carefully, but cannot get the himelink button on the mirror in my IS250, to operate the garage door opener. The manual refers to pressing a "training button" on the garage door motor unit, but there are no buttons. I've removed the cover and looked on the circuit boards- there are no buttons. I have a Genie Intellicode garage door opener. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a tech support number at Lexus I can call for help? Thanks
  11. We bought our first Lexus yesterday- an 09 IS250. Having waited until later in the year I think we did pretty good, but didn't get everything we could have. Is the Platinum Shield (Paint protector, Fabric protector, Leather Protector) worthwhile buying? We held off on all options so as to keep our cost down as much as possible. The dealer tried to offer us what they tough was a good deal by cutting the price in half and not charging us tax. The original price was $2495 for 5 years, but he offered $1250 (without tax). I just don't know if this is a good deal or not. One thing we missed out on by buying a model later in the year is tinted windows. We took the model as is because the price was good price with the options. I didn't think to ask at the time, but can dealers add easily window tinting? Is the quality good? Have any of you ever had to purchase an extra key/remote? I'm guessing these cost a few hundred$ or so. Thanks
