  1. Clearly the best radar detectors on the market are not the ones that suction cup to the window!!! I have the passport SRX with shifters on my Grand Cherokee SRT8,I also have the new beltronics RX75 pro plus in my Viper and my v6 accord sedan...I think I'm going with the k40 Calibre in my IS300 because it is bluetooth based which means a little less wiring!!! The shifters on these units are amazing and are worth the money ten fold!!! HALLSTAR TINT & DETAIL INC. No selling in the car topic forums please. -- bart I'm not selling anything homie... get off my posts...rediculous! I'm stating what works the best and thats it!!! Lighten up and don't sass the mods son.
  2. okay, the only reason why im so scared to take them off is because when i look at it, the adhesive seems to be the same color as the car. the car was repainted, i am not sure if there is anyway that the spot under the emblem did not get painted... what do you think?? when i lightly touch the emblems i notice that it moves around after rain... are your emblems off? I took the emblems off my IS300 when I had it, but it was all original paint. Try what smooth suggests. That and a little scratch remover type compound should level out any paint difference.
  3. I leave min on auto all the time and just set the temp. It will switch from recirc to outside air as it is able. It will also change the location of where the air blows as needed. The inside temp probe and the sun sensor will pretty well regulate things.

  5. I've seen some black pearl ones done with krylon model paint that look pretty good.
  6. Only one way buddy from the nav screen it points to your feet buy it comes out the center ducks anyway. I thought the picture on the screen which shows the air going to your feet was suppose to go to your feet. Is this a special "perfection" feature of this car? It probably another design flaw. Sorry pal I don't think I can help you if you haven't read the manual. Guess what the owners manual says if you want heat at your feet press the button with picture of heat going to your feet. It does not say anything about air coming through the center vents. This the first car I ever had that did this and I have owned many cars. BTW the mechanic at the Lexus dealer said all of the IS's have the same problem. His suggestion was to shut the vents, again another problem they can't solve. Try running it on automatic.
  7. Are you referring to the little shelf for the owners manual? It's just popped into two slots and you have to remove it to get to the A/C filter.
  8. First the IS is an inline six that's not real highly tuned, and will virtually run forever if well maintained. The SI is a relatively highly tuned four.
  9. Bare paint. Just the paint with no wax, no polish, no nothing on it like whatever. It won't have ever been waxed and the area around it will have the wax removed so you'll need to put some wax on there to shine it up like you do when you wax your car if you wax your car, but if you don't wax your car don't worry about it cause it will look just like the rest of the car does already, but if you're worried about the paint coming off which it won't, but if you are, then don't take the *BLEEP*ing emblems off in the first place, because smooth and I may be lying to you and your car may fall into a pile of *BLEEP* on the ground after you do what we said.
  10. You have to wax because where you use the adhesive remover will be just bare paint. Use whatever you use to wax the rest of the car.
  11. You can open the hood, take off the engine cover and then sit in the car and move the gas pedal while watching the cable at the throttle body. There needs to be some slack, but there shouldn't be a lot of take up before the cable engages. There should still be a loop of cable near the adjuster. I had mine adjusted so when you barely pushed the pedal the car started to rev. Once I got used to it, it was pretty slick.
  12. Windshield strip looks cheap? Should I start feeling ashamed to drive my car around town after all this time? :cries:
  13. Yep, those emblems are glued on. You can put a little of the stuff Smooth mentioned and then take a piece of fishing line or strong string and slip it under one edge of the emblem, grab both ends of the string (wear gloves) and pull it acros under the emblem (left to right) and it should pop right off.
  14. If you're going to go turbo, then you might want to skip the intake because you won't be able to use it with turbo. If you haven't read this thread, I recommend reading it re turbo and some other mods. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=37347
  15. If you're good at electrical soldering, the SRT is probably the best bolt on mod you can do on a NA engine. http://my.is/forums/f88/srt-intake-piggy-b...ace-ecu-351547/
  16. Lexus actually increased the steering effort required due to many complaints about the earlier models being too easy to turn.
  17. The SRT comes with a piggyback ECU that has to wired into the car's ECU by soldering. That's the "secret" to this intake's extra power gains. Other intakes may look similar but I don't believe any of them have the electronics.
  18. I contacted JoeZ this this evening and he says you can order through. http://www.l-tunedparts.com/index.php They may have Blitz or K&N filters too.

  20. I always leave exhausts stock. That's why they call me the silent creeper.
  21. The JoeZ intake tube with a drop in (fits in the stock airbox) Blitz or K&N filter is the best buy for the money I think. I had one on my IS300 and have one on my IS350. The good thing about it is that there are bona fide hp gains and you don't have to relocate the MAF or worry about heat shields etc. There really aren't any CAI's for the IS and the stock intake already has a snorkel up to the hood lip area so it's already kinda cold air. You can do the whole JoeZ and filter for less than $200. I'm not partial to aftermarket exhausts but there are plenty to choose from. It all ends up being a choice as to whether you want quiet or loud. There are lots of video clips on YouTube. You could get an idea of what sounds good to you on there. LSD? You mean limited slip differential? At this point I don't think you need to worry about that. Your car may already have it.
  22. Sure. Lots of people wait at least till the warranty runs out before the start with serious mods. Of course you want to do things right with quality stuff, no shade tree jobs. Whad do you have in mind?
  23. Guys had 2nd gen IS on dynos within a month after they came out. All it takes is a little research to find their numbers. Some people on the West coast started testing intakes and exhaust pretty quick. Some owners volunteered to use their cars as test vehicles and got before and after dynos.
