  1. I wouldn't think the cleaner would do that. I've had it in other cars with no problems but haven't used it on a IS.
  2. The trac light usually comes on when the ECU is trying to protect the engine against and off standard condition. It will come on with many of the CEL's. If you fix the one problem the trac light should go out.
  3. I don't think break-down insurance is anything near to a full bumper to bumper warranty.
  4. Engine warm idle speed of 700RPM is about right. You're going to feel something through the shifter. It's attached to lots of stuff that moves, goes around and reciprocates more or less. While the car body and seats, etc are isolated, the shifter isn't. Unless it's a major vibration I wouldn't be concerned.
  5. I have no idea what the affects of Ethanol are, but our 06 Acura MDX manual clearly states that we should avoid the use of fuels containing 10% Ethanol. Problem is, I can't find a gas station without 10% Ethanol anywhere in my area. I don't know why the manual says that but we don't have much choice in the matter. Since we're talking 2nd Generation Lexus IS models here, the manual doesn't mention ethanol at all. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&id=3788
  6. dude forget that... dont take them off, the car is a lexus not a honda.... y take the emblems off. if you never did it before dont do it, i learned the hard way. now everything is fine.=D It wasn't fine because you had the repainted car, is that not correct? With factory paint that problem doesn't happen.
  7. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=remove+emblems You can remove the "lexus" and the "is300" but if you remove the "L" it will leave holes in the trunk lid. In the above link the car had been repainted and some paint came off during removal. If your paint is original you should be able to follow the instructions with no problems.
  8. If today's cars had voltage regulators I'd say change that, but I dunno how that works with ECU cars.
  9. Has the battery had a full overnight trickle charge?
  10. I suppose in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to reset the ECU. I wouldn't be surprised though if on of the solder joints was bad or a wrong connection.
  11. I don't think ethanol attacks the seals in newer cars. They were sourced with running ethanol in mind.
  12. You got your good plastic and your cheap plastic.
  13. 10% ethanol is in lots of gas all over the country. It won't hurt anything.
  14. Moving to General Discussion.
  15. You might get better result is you don't type in all caps.
  16. I never had any problems with my 2002.
  17. We did indeed...it was on mine. Frank's posted the same query on the UK LOC site but with the same answer...the European model has the hinge down compartment but it has the motion sensor electronics screwed into the space. B) The quick answer Frank is you cannot fit it unless you (1) fit the motion sensor somewhere else and (2) purchase the whole new overhead lamp unit from the USA and fit it.....bit extreme to have somewhere to stash your shades I think. That's right it was your car. I didn't remember all the details. You're making fine contributions to the forum.
  18. Come on guys, let's get back to the topic of the question the thread starter asked. I think it's pretty well been answered as he found out what it would do to his rates to make that claim. I might add that any time you have an at fault claim it's not only going to raise your rates, but if you get enough claims the insurance company can put you into another class and even force you into "risk insurance". That's going to cost a bunch and take years of no accidents and not even traffic tickets to requalify for lower rates. The attitude that you ought to make claims because you are paying for the insurance has absolutely no standing with the insurance companies themselves.
  19. Bartkat, which pins did you buy at Napa? I stopped by Lexus parts and picked a few for about $3.50 a piece!!! Am hoping to run over to Pepboys or Kragens to pick something more durable up. I looked at what they had and went by the size. I got ones that have a pin in the middle that you pull up to release and push down to lock. The tops are a little bigger around than the originals and none of them have broken. I had trouble with the prongs breaking on the originals. I got two bags and had some to spare. They are also a little longer where they go through the holes.
  20. There's a little knob to the left of the steering column right below the instrument cluster. Turn it all the way to the right for the brightest setting. Turn it till it clicks to lock it on bright. I've noticed the dash lights brightening and dimming in the daytime when driving in and out of sun and shade so there may be an ambient light sensor.
  21. I changed my pins for some more sturdy ones I bought at NAPA.
  22. Self insure yeah. It's either tying up a bunch of money or paying for a bond. Either way you're paying for it.
  23. I only have the tech stuff for the IS350. You can download for the AWD at http://techinfo.lexus.com/ It's $10 for 24 hrs of downoad access. I got all the 350 files that way.
