  1. You may have already seen this so I don't know if it'll help but..... http://www.clublexus...sor-issues.html Here's a schematic that lists speed sensor 2: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/553965-cruise-control-inoperable.html Have you tried the "smack" method: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/578054-speedometer-shows-wrong-speed.html
  2. Start by drying everything off as much as possible. Tighten the supply and return tubes at the steering gear. You might get lucky and find that's all you need. Keep an eye on it and see where new fluid appears. Hopefully not from the steering gear dust cover.
  3. Welcome back and Happy Anniversary!!
  4. @mslaton, it's possible that the teeth on the whip aren't "tall" enough to create the tension needed to stop the motor from continuing to run after the mast is fully retracted. They're just tall enough to retract the mast, just not stop the motor until it times out. It could also explain why you don't see anything wrong, they're not tall enough to get worn. @R White, does the motor run, just not extend/retract the mast? If so, then follow the tutorial ajahearn posted.
  5. Or possibly a Neutral Start issue. Look at this tutorial on diagnosing a faulty starter before throwing parts at it: http://www.lextreme....dx-starter.html While I won't say it's an "easy DIY", it can be done. You 00 doesn't have the EGR tubes to worry about like on my 95, so you'll have an easier time of it than I did. If you want to get an idea if you can tackle it yourself, give this a read: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/324890-95-ls400-starter-dead-diy-replacement-in-progress.html
  6. Any Dexron fluid will work: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66909&st=0&p=421639
  7. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html sorry, can't help on the MAF. Have you tried doing a search?
  8. Maybe I'm the only one bothered by this, it's a truNk, not a truCk. Just saying.
  9. You might check with this guy: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls460-430-400-classifieds/520047-1991-lexus-ls400-ucf10-parts-car.html
  10. Andy, I, for one, an embarrassed by the treatment you go here. Especially by Steve one of the Forum Admins. Regardless of what you said or implied, you didn't deserve the treatment you got here. I can see why you edited all your posts. I wish you well. If, for sticking up for you, gets me booted off this forum, so be it.
  11. A CR1216 battery is what you want and can be bought almost anywhere. Here is a writeup on how to change it: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/336540-diy-battery-replacement-in-lexus-key.html
  12. If the alternator was replaced before the leaks, it's possible that ruined it. However, before you go down that road, take it to AutoZone, they should have a charging system tester that can tell you if the alternator is good or not. Before you go, read though this for background: http://www.lextreme.com/alternator.html I also have the Duralast Gold in mine and am happy with how Duralast batteries perform. If the car had problems before it sat, who knows, but if it was "given" to you as you say, it's hard to complain. Well, not too much anyway. However, I would still investigate the trunk wire harness issue to see if you don't have a bad wire in there. It doesn't necessarily have to be the white one though.
  13. Read through this Power Steering Bible thread on the "other" forum. Me thinks you may need to clean the solenoid screen. But check to see that the vacuum tubes from the ICV are good. http://www.clublexus...ring-bible.html The "little rubber hose coming off the pump and clamped onto a metal line." is the low pressure return line. So the alternator was replaced AFTER the PS leaks?
  14. Don't worry, you're not the first person to do that and post it here. At least it was a simple fix!
  15. Your PS pump isn't leaking on your new alternator, is it?
  16. It would be interesting for you to do a climate control test and see if any codes come back. I think your heater core is partially blocked but doing the test can't hurt. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/477602-a-c-control-assembly.html
  17. CR1216, at least per this write-up: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/336540-diy-battery-replacement-in-lexus-key.html
  18. If your key opens the trunk and glove box it's a master, not a valet. There is a silver button between the trunk and fuel door latches with a key slot. Stick the key in and turn, the button should pop out.
  19. Not flipped but pushed in. Use the master key to disengage (pop it out).
  20. I use Firefox at home and never have problems but one of my work computers has IE6 and I get what billy is seeing every once and a while. I suspect billy has IE6. Refreshing the page will resolve it sometimes, others I have to close IE6 and relaunch it. I think there must be some HTML code in this new forum that IE6 doesn't like.
  21. If I remember correctly when I replaced mine, the box had instructions (does anyone read those) to place the valve at the 12 position (or something to that effect).
  22. +1 Replace and Lexus/dealer isn't going to pay. I took some pics when I replaced my passenger side: http://us.lexusowner...showtopic=54008
  23. For an RX but should give you an idea... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-second-generation/257705-rain-sensing-wiper-problem-after-replacing-windshield.html
  24. I agree about buying a new cap and also trying it one more time. Hopefully you don't have a partially blocked heater core where the heated coolant is having trouble making it into the core at low RPMs.
