  1. The motor still could be bad, with no load it runs ok but as soon as you put load on it with the window in the track it causes a high amp load which trips the switch off. I'm not sure if these work the way my old caddi did but they shut off when a high load is detected like when the window gets to the top or bottom of the track. The motor loads up and trips the switch off. I would check a wrecking yard and see how much a motor is and try that first. If the motor is the same on one of the other doors you might try swapping them also. jeff
  2. Just what is this white powder? If the dealer can tell you what it is but won't budge on fixing at this time, demand that the dealer give you the MSDS (material safety data sheet) for what ever this white powder is so you can check with your doctor to make sure it is not cancer causing. This should loosen them up a little bit. Jeff
  3. Just got back from Reno, made it thru just before they closed the road. It was like bumper cars between Truckee and Colfax. The new tires worked very well, only had one moment when ABS kicked in, that was when a Volvo locked up ad slid sideways then stopped sideways in my lane in front of me. I was only going about 20MPH and saw it happening an was able to stop in time then I had to back up quick to go around her before the next group of cars came sliding down the hill. All in all the tires felt very good and I had no trouble with traction. Jeff
  4. Have the same light on my 08RX too. Jeff
  5. The buttons light up on my 08 RX too. Jeff
  6. It seems odd that a car this new would have this issue unless some kind of event happened. Did you get a car fax report when you purchased the RX? I would check to see if it was in an accident. Jeff
  7. The Alenzas are the stock size, I haven't had them long enough to give a good review. I will say that I feel the road a little more than with the Michelins but I think they have a little more air than the stock tires did.
  8. What did you have on before? I had the stock Michelins. Jeff
  9. I just put the Bridgestones on my 08 RX350. I haven't had a chance to get in the slippery stuff yet but the look nice ride good and don't make any noise. The shop that I purchased them from said there supplier told them they sell lots of them to the areas that have the wet stuff. Jeff
  10. You should just replace it. The Catalytic converter is an important part of your cars smog equipment and is required for smog inspections. Jeff
  11. I just looked at my 08 RX and it looks to me like this tank is connected to the bottom of the cold air intake coming from the front of the car, my guess is since it is at the lowest point of the air intake it has something to do with keeping any water or moisture from entering the electronics of the air intake system. This is just a guess but it is one thing I came up with. I thought it might also be meant to gather gas fumes that escape the intake when you turn off the engine. Jeff
  12. It could be either one. I would have the battery load tested, also cleaning the battery cable clamps never hurts.
  13. my 08 purchased in Dec 07 a made in Japan RX has the 7.1 Nav version. Jeff
  14. You don't want to open them up. To open them you have to heat them in the oven till the glue melts, not something you do unless you have to.
  15. I guess it is an easy fx for all those 'check codes'. Who needs to change sensors, plugs, coils etc... anymore? (joke) Well, after all, it's my wife's car. Was it a maint req light or check engine light? Resetting the maint req light is much different than the check engine light. The maint req light tells you it is time to change the oil and get the scheduled maint for the mileage your car is at. The maint req light would not come on after 8 days unless you drove for about 5000 miles in that time period. Jeff
  16. If you are short on time any Toyota dealer will also do the oil change with a tire rotation for about $60, they also check the brake pads for wear and all the fluids. Jeff
  17. On my 08 RX it mutes only the drivers side and not all the speakers, i'm not sure which one it speaks on but I think it is up on the dash. When I first got my RX I thought there was a problem with the sound system cutting out on the drivers side at times till I figured it was the navigation muting a speaker and giving directions that I couldn't hear because of the stereo being turned up to loud. I turned the stereo down a bit and then I could hear the navigation directions. Jeff
  18. Have you had your battery checked? Sometimes a dieing can cause problems like these. Jeff
  19. Just did the 5k (25kmiles) service at the local Toyota dealer, $60 this includes the tire rotation, brake check, air filter check and toping off all fluids. I did the air filter and cabin filter myself. The bill only charges me for 5 qts of oil but they always fill it up with the 6+qts. It took 1hr 10 min. Free coffee and a nice place to read my book. 5 min. from my house, Lexus dealer is 45 miles. Jeff
  20. I would say it is normal, the heat is just burning off any residue from manufacturing. Jeff
  21. It could be one of your struts that lift the door is bad.
  22. Yes, just tighten the gas cap and drive it, the light should go out after a short period of time. Jeff
  23. Cheaper to buy a car with nav.
