  1. I have used Armorall on the sun faded roof parts whith some success. Spray the cloth you are using and not directly on the part. Apply several coats and expect it to last 45-60 days.
  2. I am sure you have first checked for lose items under the seats. What I would do is try to pin down exactly where the noise may be coming from. Move the front passenger seat all the way forward and sit in the back seat. When the noise starts, bend down and check for the noise pressing in on suspecious areas. Also, try lowering the passenger window during the noise...Hope this helps...
  3. For question #1, I'd recommend a Consumers' Report print out for around $20. The report lists everything available, the MSRP, and the invoice price. That amount of knowledge puts you in a strong position. Also, remember that invoice price already includes a hidden 5% dealer profit. For the other questions, I defer to those with deeper knowledge. You can go to the Lexus site and do a "build you own" to come up with a option list and pricing. If you can nail down the options you want, you can shop the price with your local dealers and the internet.
  4. Thanks Jeff....may have somthing to do with where it was made. My car was also made in 07 but in Canada, and I got the 06.1 version.....
  5. ...what Nav version came with the 2008?
  6. Using info below, what version do you have now? I have an 08 and find that I have 06.1...should be 7.1 I think!
  7. I just replaced the DVD in my '08 with the 9.1 version. To determine which version you are using now, push the "Menu" button then touch "map DVD" in the upper right hand corner. The DVD is in the trunk space under the tool tray which has to be removed to get to it.
  8. 1) Remove rear tool tray( NAV DVD player is underneath) a)fold down rear seats b)find velcro tabs on each side of rear tray cover where it meets back seats c)lift velcro tabs d)slide fingers gently along edge where rear cover meets rear seats to release 5 plastic push pins. e)Use 12mm socket to remove the 2 now visible hinge bolts f)remove tool tray cover g) remove tool tray, There are 2 black push pin on both sides that pry up easily. NAV DVD player should now be visible on passenger side 2) Put ignition in ACC position 3) If there is a dust cover on unit remove it. Mine did not have this. Some do. 4) There should be a "slide type button" on your left of the unit. Slide this button to your left(facing unit). DVD should eject 5) Insert new DVD 6) Slide button back to original position 7) allow NAV to update before turning off ignition( check NAV Screen) 8) Reassemble in reverse order. Hope this helps. I just replaced mine in a 2008 RX. It may sound like a lot , but I was finished in 15 minutes. Tip: If you are uncomfortable with DIYs, take your time and think it through. Great info...thank you. BTW, where do you suggest getting an updated DVD and what changes can be expected vs current (2008) DVD?
  9. 5.Box and tray in center console renders entire space practically useless 6.Goofy void space in center console between driver and passenger legs- What the heck were "they" thinking On my 2008, the center console moves back and forth to allow for rear passanger leg room....are we talking about the same thing?
  10. Congrats on the new car... 1. Check with Lexus dealership on rust 2. New nav disk is avalable (try Ebay) 3. Use premium 4. Use synthetic 5. OEM is your best bet for replacement
  11. My 08 appears to have three bolts holding down the hinged cover on the box?
  12. I don't think they would void your warranty over this one. If they played games like that there would be major consumer complaints. Lexus enjoys one of the highest customer standings in the industry. They didn't get that by cheating customers. Doing the first oil change 2k miles earlier than the normal interval isn't a bad idea so you didn't waste your money. I agree with above. All of my contact with Lexus has been excellent and I can't see them playing games with the warranty such as the OP has suggested.
  13. Goodyear Eagle RS-A P235/55R 18s are OEM on my 2008. I have 30K miles and think it will be a streach to get to 40K for what it's worth.
