  1. Are you having a driveability problem that would lead you to think that the injectors are dirty or just going on the oil change guys comments. You will know when an injector is clogged or dirty, missing at idle , stumble on take off, poor gas mileage, miss at speed. If your air cleaner is dirty it doesn't mean your injectors are dirty, it has nothing to do with the injectors, no air goes thru them only fuel LOL. If you are using a name brand of fuel most all have an injector cleaner in them that will keep your injectors clean, unless you get some crap in some bad gas. If you feel you must use an in tank cleaner make sure that you put it in at the gas station with a complete fill up as injector cleaner is a solvent and will ruin your injectors and fuel pump if run in too high of concentration. I heard from a guy that had a friend put some in at home on a low tank and drive to the gas station a couple of miles away and ruined his fuel pump. Jeff
  2. I got the car today, $26,028.59 out the door, found out that the lexus dealers could only verify one oil change at 5000 miles, no other records after that. so worst case is the car has gone 12k with out an oil change. I'm ok with that. The car is sweet and so clean my co workers thought it was brand new not 4+ years old. The dealer is going to get me extra set of keys and FOB also. I only came with 1 and the valet key. Do you guys use synthetic oil or dino oil? I plan on doing all my own changes and anything else I can. How about oil filters do you use Toyota? Jeff
  3. When you encounter the red -Dex-Cool type of antifreeze that is the original from factory you should always keep that type. It is a long life type and needs less frequent changes due to better corrosion inhibitors. The green type contains silicates that are a bit abrasive and will plate the inside of the engine, they are also a little harder on the water pump due to the silicates and should be changed every 2 years. If you did a good job of getting ALL of the red stuff out you should be ok, however once you introduce the green type into your system it should always be used. The silicates that plate the inside of the engine will keep the corrosion inhibitors from doing there job. You could use the red stuff again but it should now be changed every 2 years. Rule of thumb if it came with green from the manufacturer use green, if it came with red stick with red. There is more to this but I hope it helps. The main thing is that you don't mix the two together and never let a car with the red stuff run low on fluid in a cast iron block as the engine will rust when not covered with the coolant and then when fluid splashes onto this rust it it will pick it up and can cause the so called gelling of the red fluid that you here about. 4. I found a 2000 RX 300 with 17,500 miles asking price of $25,995 clean as new, everything I think except navigation. I purchased a car fax and it is clean however it lists no services at dealers. The car was registered in a rural area no dealers close by. Is such low mileage soon enough to worry about sludge? Is there anything I should check out when I go back on Monday to buy it? I have a code reader and could check for OBDII codes but I would think if it had any they would have been cleared and not in history. I checked oil and it was so clean I could hardly see it on the stick, I'm sure the dealer changed it. By the way it is at a Cadillac dealer so I'm not sure they know too much about this car. I plan on going back on Monday and really going over this car good, any suggestions on things to look at would help, it only had 1 remote key and 1 valet key unless they are holding 1 back, I didn't ask yet. Thanks Jeff
