Good feedback from new GS owners that drove the competition. I drove the GS at Lexus event in the summer and was impressed.

You mentioned a good point, "I never could stand my chrome emblem on the rear of my car because all the other trim is dark.". I prefer my car trim to be consistent too. For example on my IS sedan, the bright/polished trim from the factory is nicely done on window frames, grill, emblems front and back and headlights. When I chose my aftermarket 19" wheels I took that into account when selecting something with polished lips to match the standard trim.

Better mpg too with the slick aero finish. It does look great.

3 1/2 hours, now that's persistent dedication which I admire.

Matched is good, great results.

I guess it was a known trouble area, btw how many miles on your IS350?

In late October I received another recall letter from Lexus regarding replacement of Intake VVT Actual Gears (certain 2006 to 2011 IS350's), will require car to be in shop about a day. Anybody had this fix done yet?

I agree with LexBob2, and the Reliability ratings from CR tend to be quite useful.

I subscribe to CR (or at least a family member gives me a gift subscription at Christmas every single year). The CR reliability surveys and charts are very useful and probably the best available in the industry. I monitor and have verified this data against cars I actually own (past/present). I don't give much weight to road tests, they are not very good. Yes, they do good appliance reviews including fridges, BBQs, toasters. I have long history of no loyalty to any one auto maker, having owned brands including Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes, Porsche, Honda, Acura, Jag, Ford, Hummer, Mercury, Mazda and Jeep. When it comes to comparisons, I reach my own conclusions based on multiple road tests/reviews and my own test drives.

My last Porsche had top speed of 164 mph, something I never personally experienced.

A list will be a bit of work for me to gather, since I too started driving in the 70's. I've owned too many cars to easily list all makes/models/model years, including Capri II (V6), Couger (351), Mustangs (GT), Accords, Civic, Integra, Porsches, Mercedes(s), Jag, Lexus, Toyotas, GM truck, Jeeps, and Mazdas. My favorite weekend cars tend to be made by Porsche, currently using Lexus IS350 mostly as a weekend car.

Regular dirty red IS250 next to F-sport Exhaust IS350. (Also you can visually see a couple of other differences, including 20% tint versus 35% and stock suspension versus F-Sport springs, no rear spoiler versus OEM rear spoiler, wider rear tires)

Sadly I'm disappointed that Lexus dealerships around here still have mechanized car washes. They have not scratched my car so far, but they do a mediocre job of cleaning it. Even the non-premium car dealerships that I've used (Ford and Mazda dealerships) dumped mechanized car washes and only do hand washes of cars in for service. The Ford service manager mentioned customer complaints as one the main reasons for going to 100% hand wash a few years ago. When I take my Mazda CX-5 in for service it gets hand-washed and comes back much cleaner than my Lexus IS done by machine wash by Lexus dealership. btw - Tomlu - Congrats on the new 2014 IS250, looking forward to seeing a picture when you get a chance.

Sadly, this is why a very big and heavy safe car like the Tesla appeals from a safety standpoint. It offers some protection from the distracted drivers.

Wouldn't that be nice. That would suggest more stringent testing for drivers license, not going to happen nationally in US since each state administers its own version of testing.

Saw the prototype of the Tesla SUV on Sunday, (safety ratings TBD of course).

Again--the seats don't "cool"; it's just a fan under the seat. Think of the difference of putting a fan in a room in the middle of the summer vs. an air conditioner. Not sure how that makes it a "piece of crap" though? Yes, since many of us know what the seat cooling mechanism involves, we have realistic expectations for how much cooling it can produce. I have 2 other vehicles without seat coolers (Mercedes w/MBtex and Mazda w/leather), and the Lexus is by far most comfy in hot, sticky weather.
