  2. Weazel18 - Thanks for the update on '14 IS experience so far. Road noise is pretty common with most compact sport sedans running 18"/19" very low profile high performance summer tires (typical of sport packages with similar tire/wheel setups).

  5. Drove another 2014 IS350 F-Sport yesterday. My local Lexus dealer had the official launch/small party to introduce the new IS. Another nice event with good snacks and beverages, plenty of hardcopy brochures and magazine review reprints.

  8. My Lexus dealership is fine. I have a very good service writer and I use him exclusively for all my appointments.

  10. Styling is so subjective, even if some writers like to dwell on it. I much prefer to come to my own conclusions regarding styling. Yes a IS250 is sluggish versus a IS350 or IS-F, but compared to common econo boxes on the road not so sluggish.

  12. Welcome AZCats. Congrats on the new IS250. I've only seen on 2014 IS on the street, so they are very rare so far. Post up a picture when you get a chance.

    Yes, when I speak of JD and CR reporting, I'm referring to data about quality they collect from actual owners (not reviews). And Lexus consistently scores at top or near top for attributes related to quality. Generally premium car buyers are not buying strippos. But I know what you are saying about gap in interior quality almost gone ( or greatly narrowed) between common premium cars and loaded top trim level other cars.

    My opinion is concerns about Lexus quality are a non-issue, and JD and CR reporting seems to support that. I don't feel most people can accurately measure things like paint thickness, leather thickness, sheet metal thickness, etc., not that these are best criteria for judging quality. I am not impressed with Lexus loaner cars, they are frequently dirty, body dinged, body scratched, beat, poorly treated and not good examples of Lexus product quality. (But that might justify a separate topic). I get better cared for Mercedes loaners at local Benz dealership.
  15. My suggestion is to avoid it, although I see no mention of price, it's mostly likely loaded with obscene profit.
  16. Not anything new to me, but a good reminder for all car buyers. Yes, depreciation is usually the biggest cost factor in first 5 years (versus other single cost factors including fuel, maintenance, insurance, interest, taxes/registration fees) .
  17. Wow, a lucky owner! I just saw a new red 2014 IS350 F-sport being driven to work this morning. She looked very happy! First one on the block for sure on 07/11/13, Thursday.
  18. Schielle1 - I know you are trying to do the right thing in getting a safety issue resolved for your mother, being the primary driver. I agree that should be the primary concern. NPF = No Problem Found, frequently this is the diagnosis by service departments when they cannot (or don't want to) reproduce the problem reported. And to clarify the point (since you were wondering what my point was), ideally the problem should have been reported and recorded at least once during the warranty period, even if the the service department in question failed to acknowledge the defect. It would just give your post-warranty claim more weight (and documents the fact that a problem was observed by owner during the warranty period, and remains unresolved). Consider taking it to another Lexus dealership, especially since the warranty just recently expired. If the problem is obvious, they could very possibly acknowledge the problem and honor the warranty. Of course, when I see comments like "Actually, you sound like Bellevue dealership's representative" I wonder if you have developed a somewhat sour relationship with that dealership service rep., so trying another might be considered.... I apologize for having to point this out.... Best of luck, many of us have had productive exchanges with Lexus dealership service departments.

Yes, but to improve the case for a warranty claim beyond the standard warranty period (not a safety-related recall), the problem should have been reported and recorded during the warranty period, even if the dealer claimed NPF. btw-A safety-related recall has nothing to do with factory warranty or the the period of time the warranty was effective. So same question, was the windshield problem reported during the lengthy warranty period?
  20. Interesting and mostly expected. For me I will continue to select reasonable efficient vehicles and drive in the 70-80 mph on open freeways when safe to do so. The 1.6L and 2.0L Ecoboost Ford engines had especially mediocre fuel economy at speed given the sleek sedan configuration.
