  1. Was the windshield problem reported during the lengthy warranty period?
  2. Thanks for the trip report, MPG was excellent. Not surprised about road noise on all-weather highway like I80 over Sierras. Much of that is durable concrete pavement over high altitude (snow country) mountains carrying a lot of truck traffic. In contrast some of highway 5 is newer asphalt and is quiet. But I agree that many of the California freeways are rough and noisy especially when driving a sports sedan (versus a SUV with high profile tires).
  3. Nice road trip. What was your typical cruising speed on the highway?
  4. Got my drivers license at 17 years old, more typical of another generation.
  5. Yes, some kids prefer to be driven around by Mom in back of the LS460, but not enough kids to matter.
  6. Yes and no.A lock smith with the proper training and software can program the proximity type fob's that are now common on most late model Lexus. The key word here is proper training. I called a local lock smith about programing my replacement fob. I had to keep explaining over and over that this was not a key with a chip on it. Finaly he got the idea. He would charge $30. I decided I wouldn't trust a mail box key to this guy. So, I called my dealer and they said they would do all of the programing for $38.00. Easy decison. Yes, easy choice. I would have zero confidence in that locksmith after "explaining over and over", forget him.
  7. Drove it a few times on short autocross courses at Lexus-San Mateo event. It compared well with the competition that I was able to drive at same event (C350, 335, A4), sb a winner for Lexus.
  8. Yes, when Lexus invites me to an event, I make every effort to attend, so far it's always been worth the time.
  9. Glad to see Lexus getting serious about this F Sport business (like MB with AMG and BMW with Msport). I was at the Lexus drivers event in San Mateo recently and the heavy emphasis on F Sport was obvious. I personally like F Sport accessories and have some on my IS350.
  10. MPG seems to be a big consideration with new car buyers these days, even buyers of premium cars pay attention to efficiency.
  11. Happy 4th! Thanks for the reminder about safety on this great US holiday.
  12. IMO, no surprise the focus is on metro areas, vast majority of American population lives and works in the greater metro areas. Somewhat related is the declining gasoline consumption in the US too.
  13. Saw it and drove it last Saturday, looks like it will be successful.
  14. I'm sure you will put those cooled seats to good use. Your weather combined with your feedback on effectiveness will be appreciated.
  15. Summer weather to follow, can only get better.
  16. Lexus really knows how to throw an event for enthusiast. This is my second event for Lexus owners and both were very different but very well done.
  17. Yes it was fun, about 2 hours of thrashing all these cars in the morning (IS350, 335, C350 3.5Ldirect-injected, A4-2.0T, GS350, LS460). Lots burning rubber, and smoking brakes on 3 autocross courses. My favorites to drive were the IS350 and 335. For ownership I'd consider IS350 or C350 which should be the most reliable of the group.
  18. I drove 2014 IS350 Saturday at Lexus event in San Mateo, very nice. They also provided competitive BMW, Benz, Audi cars for us to drive on a short autocross course.
  19. Good to know about Sewall pricing. btw - Can a locksmith program our Lexus keys?
  20. Thanks for the report. California is high cost, no surprise. Certainly the importance of owning reliable cars (Lexus being an example of reliable brand) can minimize the impact on owner repair costs and depreciation rates too.
  21. I hope to drive on Saturday at the Lexus event in San Mateo, CA.
  22. Welcome, good choice of car for long-term reliability.
