  1. Pretty car, but I hope its reliability has been improved over the last 15 years of poor reliability for german manufacturors.
  2. I would not change the fuel filter, not necessary, it is in the fuel tank and should be good for the life of the fuel pump. The plugs should be good for an easy 120k miles. the only failures I have seen are on the coils on each plug, however they should throw a p0300, p0301, etc code when bad. As for the fuel injection, try some Lucas or Chevron Techron cleaner in the gas tank. The Idle Air Control Valve is an item that does cause problems for idle (steady) and running problems after starting the engine, but this forum has a great do it yourself for cleaning it, versus replacement. The real important item is to replace the transmission fluid once a year with drain and fill only procedure. Do NOT do a flush. Brakes last forever on this vehicle, historically fronts should go an easy 80k miles, just use Toyota pads or Akebono ceramics and you should get great life. Door locks mechanism fail on these vehicles as they get older, and their is a thread about a $5 fix for these on this forum...Lots of info on this forum for your car, good luck.
  3. I would not go with plugs, they are historically good for an easy 120k miles. They are iridium, and even at 120k miles look like new. If the (02 sensor) is repaired and you recheck codes, and still get the p0300 etc than you have a bad coil pack, you can swap them and see if the code changes to determine if that is the culprit. if it becomes a code p0302 etc, than you know that is a bad coil. The coils on the back (firewall) side are a pain to get to, but the front ones are real easy. There are no wires, as the coils rest right on top of the plugs. I always put a little dielectric grease around the cap that plugs onto the plug as that will prevent moisture buildup and corrosion. good luck.
  4. i have uses brembo , and akebono with great success however unless u have a stutter feel when braking i would just do pads
  5. fuel filter is in the gas tank, should be good for life of fuel pump.....PCV valve should be on the rear valve cover. Spark plugs are indeed good for 120k miles if not longer. As for transmission, check color and level and should be good, I personally replace mine every 30k miles....
  6. Congrats Paul, oh man am i in trouble now.....
  7. ok, more info to file away....thank you
  8. actually the quality has been poor since around 1995
  9. historically the ml has proved to be trouble. when i bought my first Rx I owned a Ml for 24 hours before i discovered that in its six month life it had been in the shop no less than 29 times...turned it back in and bought the Rx....
  10. not to good lately, just came back from emergency...5 stiches darn lexus....
  11. amazon has those sensors the cheapest (denso) only please....
  12. That MDX is really small.....I have heard the Pilot is a dynamite vehicle....
  13. How come Honda Pilot is not in your list
  14. Hey you will have to join Toyota Nations site....I am there too giving and learning...
  15. I have never done one, just the outer tie rod....But I dont think it can be that difficult.
  16. Seems men with power going to their head, loose control of their morals. ie Clinton, Kennedy, the list goes on.
  17. I'll go....I love radiation.
  18. Also note that as lines age sometimes they expand internally and cause flow blockage...Had this happen a couple of times on Brake systems...The rubber hoses apparently do break down.
  19. I would look closely at that area where you lifted wiring or fuse box. The fans are the ones mounted to the back side of radiator between the engine and radiator...
  20. what brand battery is it? I have found the Reilleys, Kragen batteries have never held up well...Buy one from Walmart, Costco, or Sams club. Also be carefull to note the interior dome light switch positions...only takes one night to take the battery down. Check the cables to the battery to make sure they havent deteriated.. Also the condition of the connections to the battery...The clock has time and again proven to be a good indicator of battery going bad.
  21. Have you turned on the AC to make sure the cooling fans are working? You have done a lot of Headlamp stuff too, Maybe the wire harness was disturbed near the fans, or maybe all said you just have a fan going bad...
  22. Please not, be very careful with your oil changes, on the RX300 that valve can get clogged from sludge....I would definetly use synthetic oil and keep those changes on schedule.
  23. I think by the fuse that blew it is one of the cooling fans behind the radiator.....fuse #24 "RDI FAN NO.2"
  24. why would the pipes need to be changed? Are the hangers bad allowing them to shift? You are talking about exhaust correct:?
