A/c Fan Blower Went Out... Rx400H
lenore replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Funny when my electric cooling pump went on mine I also got that smell, turns out the fuse blew also....However the pump was bad, which caused the fuse to blow....You may be loosing your fan motor....time to price new one. -
sounds like a bad amp or maybe a blown fuse....Only other thing is if it is in a mute mode. Does your car have built in cell phone feature of hands free.?
-
Man if only we could predict the normal life span of these electric pumps, Than we could put them in a maintenance requirement instead of eating big bucks when they fail....
-
You can get the pump for $160 at about a dozen online dealerships....Maybe it would be better to just change it....No i didnt know about the electric tranny pump, I suspect there had to be something to move the fluid....
-
The tow package came with a different inverter cooling pump...and wiring harness in trunk...not sure what else...I would think that tranny cooler is on all of the hybrids....maybe look it up on a parts site and see if cooler is listed for all models...
-
Ok cut pump in two last night, here is how the impeller and pump body look inside, the impeller is a magnet, which is part of the motor. The center of the impeller is the only bearing support which is very tiny....maybe about a 1/8 inch at most.
-
Remember this is not the water pump driven by the timing belt, it is a seperate water pump for the hybrid cooling system. I looked in the maintenance book and nowhere did it say anything about replacing this pump...I agree on the timing belt (engine) pump, I replaced it when I did the timing belt along with the idlers.... You Have actually three water pumps in this car, one for the engine, one for the heater, and one for the inverter cooling.
-
the strut is held on by a bearing assembly on top which is attached with three nuts...The strut (shock) itself goes through the center and has a flat spot that is supposed to seat into the bearing assembly...That nut could be loose on top which holds the strut tight to the mount...
-
Ok, good news I did some research and The C1310 was from a blown fuse and not doing a calibration on the steering for center and yaw......Must have happened when the Converter got confused from the pump failure. anyway car is back and The inverter cooling pump had failed....Total not as bad as it could have been...$570 :whistles: Here is the pump (old one) and part number....took this one apart, the impeller is actually a magnet that is supported by a very tiny teflon,or ceramic shaft bearing. It looks like it wore and maybe started wobbling hitting the sides of the pump assembly....not the greatest design I have ever seen for a pump....Note the pump can be changed probably in less than 15minutes, but they charge you 1.5hours labor...typical i guess.

Well bad news, now the dealer says they have a code C1310 that wont clear....

A/c Fan Blower Went Out... Rx400H
lenore replied to cduluk's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Hey you live in an area with lots of trees, maybe some leaves or debris got in the intake to the heating and cooling. Pull the air filter in the interior and see if you can see any debris below on the core. Maybe something got in there...Otherwise just chalk it up to a motor going bad or the speed control resister pack dying. -
Agreed, have the code read for free at Auto parts store, and then we can give your probable solutions that might cost you nothing....
-
As always looks perfect...
-
That my friend is the water pump for the Hybrid cooling system....The RX400h has one cooling system for the hybrid with its own electric water pump, and another water pump on the 3.3liter V6 engine which is a traditional water pump.
-
That seems very high (24k) for a 2004....Mileage is low, but still 7 years old....
-
I could do job myself, but hey I am going to support toyota...Question does anybody know how to tell if you have tow package, apparently it uses a different pump....My Vehicle doesnt have hitch, but I was told if the front emblem is hollow it has the tow package...any other way to tell?
-
Well, possibly some good news. Compared to what I thought might happen....Yep Got the Check engine, Hybrid sytem failure, Check VSC lamp....Thought I am toast, looking at Hybrid battery or Converter. I have 103k miles on a 2008 RX400h and care died day before yesterday. Toyota called and said the codes were P0A05, P0A93 which is a Coolant pump failure. Cost $591.56 for replacement. So much better than what my mind was saying like $6000-$9000. No part locally so it will be next week...Will fill you in next week...Happy Black Friday.

that is weird, do you suppose it was road debris that kicked up and got caught on the undercarriage.?

Hey major Thanksgiving....May all of your families be well, and make it safely to their distinations. God Bless you all..

Rx400H Recall (Inverter Related)
lenore replied to lemon's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
That is precisely what worries me...my next door neigbor has a 2003 highlander that experienced the sludge, and because the lawsuit was filed in 2002 his vehicle was not covered, exactly the same engine, and no fixes...I hope we arent left out to hang in the wind...Sometimes their propriortory information is just plain customer unfriendly.... Well Cduluk, my 2008 may have just failed...no warning, just got Check hybrid system, check VSC, and Bad braking system lamps, then the Check engine light came on...Car started loosing power, and the hybrid battery went to two bars, but eventually jumped back up to two thirds....next it died on a left turn from a stoplight, had it towed to Toyota, (lexus dealership in my town gave me a very bad taste with their poor mechanical fix on my RX300 tranny.)...Man I could not get the codes before I towed it to dealership...Friday is earliest they can look at it. Wish me luck, just turned 103k miles....Oh it sucks to be me tonight...I agree, it doesn't make much sense to me. I don't understand why they wouldn't include the '08 models, because we all know nothing was changed for the 08's. All of the parts used in the 08's were taken out of the same parts bin as all the ones installed on the 06 and 07's out there, including the Highlander. -
OK guys you are scaring me, Today I got the turkey early....I Got the Check VSC, check Hybrid, and Brake system failure lights. I was making a right turn and it just came on. Car still drove. I stopped it and continued on toward my home. The hybrid battery went to 2 bars and then all of a sudden after a mile was up to two thirds. I exited freeway and at a left turn car died. I pushed it out of the way and called tow company. I then tried to restart while waiting and the car worked, however the check engine, and the other lights (check hybrid, check vsc, and brake failure lights were still on). Towed to Toyota, because I had a very bad experience with my local Lexus dealership, they are going to look at it Friday....The bad news just turned 103k miles...Oh I wish I had the codes...didnt have a reader with me. wish me luck on what may be a bad journey on my new to me 2008RX400h.

Was it a brinelling failure of one or more balls, of the race, or some other failure? I just learned a new word, thank you....Now I know the proper term for a common bearing failure. As for mine on the RX300 I didnt cut the bearing apart to see why it was noisy.....The bearings in The RX series are ball bearings, not the typical roller bearings....
-
I am familiar with front bearings as I actually changed them on my old RX300...You have to press them into the hub...which I did.
-
I have used it, but frankly saw no change, I do it for potentially keeping the fuel injectors clean...Waste? I do not know.

That my friend is the ethics of many contractors today, funny how the job market is so bad for contractors today especially here in California, but their old habits never leave...Word of mouth and Amy's list are a friend to homeowners. However word of mouth from one contracter to another I would take with a grain of salt. That is what unions have done to our country, they think they can give you poor service, and substandard work and you owe them your business. I have always prided myself as always doing right by the customer. I would never give them what I wouldnt expect for my own business or products.... My daddy many years ago told me if you aren't going to do it right, than don't bother. Good luck on your Crown molding...If I were there I would do it for you..
