  1. Not only is the Media biased, but so too are so many of the teachers in our educational system. The rot spreads to our kids and grand kids. What ever happened to a class where both sides of an equation of thought was encouraged and decisions made by all the facts. I was raised that way in the great plains states while attending junior high and high school. But here on the left coast the teachers are biased by the politican schools of Berkeley and Sac State. We have some real sick people out there and the majority lets them get away with it. The tearing down off our constitution, parents rights, and religous holidays is disgusting. Funny you can't give a child a aspirin in school, but they can go get an abortion without the parents knowledge and complete consent from the school administrators. Oh and by the way if something goes wrong its the parents fault. God help all of us.
  2. worst yet, they are tearing down the structure of any secrets that are necessary to our survival. Funny, 40 years ago I could have gone to jail (federal penententuary) and fined heavily for what is now common place leaking of classified information. There is some stuff the public does not need to know about. unfortunately there are so many power hungry politicians as well as media celebreties that they would sacrifice the security of our nation for their gains. How sad. When are Americans going to wake up and realize the enemy is within. This crap about spying on ourselves is nothing new, It has been going on for 50 years and sanctioned by every president. We need to know if there are terrorist communications from Americans in the United States.
  3. I agree, What with that. I would be thoroughly disgusted with that dealership and would never allow them to have the last word.
  4. Timing belt should be done at 100k, The waterpump is driven by the Timing belt so it is a good time to change it. The front and rear differential fluids are a pain to fill. you need a pump (hand) or squeeze bottle because access is terrible. Use a clear tube on pump and bottle to get into the access hole. Changed mine to synthetic fluid 75/90 weight. The toyota dealer did the pump and timing belt for $500. The parts would cost you about $170 if you do it yourself.
  5. Well folks I am very happy for all of you, I too have had a very quiet year, but my maintenance schedule is very detailed and the transmission ( third one) still exhibits the turning of color to black. I have added a transmission filter (external) and cleaned and drained it three times in the last 16k miles since the last tranny change. My only other maintenance has been fixing the stuff Roseville Lexus messed up. Other than that I enjoy driving the car, but just have bad vibes, like some others on this forum. We are trying to make it go another 100k, but time will tell. I am going to add a tranny cooling fan on the Aux cooler this spring. Maybe it will help the summer commutes that my wife does in stop and go trafffic. Best of luck to all AWD RX300 owners this 2006.....
  6. No. Salt Lake City Lexus charged $151.00. Go back and find out why they ripped you off. Don't let them get away with that.
  7. I agree with RX, drain and fill both the pan and the differential. Takes about 4.3 quarts. buy the fluid at Toyota, it is cheaper and stay away from Lexus of Roseville. They are the worst mechanics ever. They will destroy your car. If you insist on Lexus, go to Sacramento Lexus, but I perfer Maita Toyota on Auburn Blvd. They have provided great service and a lot cheaper. (Timing belt and waterpump) I too do all my own maintenance otherwise. I am on my third transmission, and that is with changing the fluid every 30k. Now I change it every 15k.
  8. If it is a magnetic clutch you can take de ox and spray on the clutch spring, this will free it up and i have fixed them this way 100 % of the time. When I used to work for the X my equipment was full of these clutches. Usually the spring gets dry and corrodes on the mounting armature.
  9. You and I as far as I know are the first ones to mention SWepco. I Have used their transmission fluid with great success. 160k miles on a Dodge Caravan and still going. I also put it in my old Company Ford Windstar before I gave the car to my mom. Have not tried the engine oil, however a Local Mercedes,BMW,German car shop uses SWEPCO exclusively. The only problem I have is it is a wholesale only item in my neck of the woods. I get my tranny fluid from the local German car shop whom the owner I respect immensley. I gives excellent service at reasonable prices. The tranny fluid is about $4.80 per quart. I don't know the price on the engine oil. I talked to the distributor and he was very knowledgeable about the different tranny fluids, claims his is superior in breakdown and other properties.
  10. Do they have thing where you can take a safe driving course and then the speeding ticket is dropped off your record? Here in California you can do that.
  11. Everyone happy new year, God Bless the troops and their families, and may all you fellow Lexus owners run smoothly and don't pay Uncle Sam too much in TAXES.
  12. I hope that harness isn't routed poorly on anybody elses RX.
  13. In California the car would fail smog due to high N O Gases. The Egr takes some of the exhaust and recirculates it into the intake to lower combustion temperatures and burn gases more completely.
  14. Get a service report as Bartket said, then take it to toyota to get the maintenance done, way cheaper.
  15. You would probably have to remove the seat to find problem. But maybe there is a plug From the top and lumbar that is disconected. Mine acted up years ago and the dealer sent it to out to a aphostery dealer to fix the seat. ( still have'nt figured out why)
  16. I know this is weird but when you pick up your car ask the service advisor specifically what wire was causing the short to cause the fuseable link to burn. It may help others.
  17. The battery could still have a lurking problem. Just be ready for it.
  18. If it is AWD stay away from it unless you want to pay $4300 for a transmission down the road. That is my warning to you from one that is on #3 trashmission. Get the two wheel drive version if you are absolutely in love with the Lexus RX300.
  19. The clunk is probably the upper strut mount, which I gather is the same or similar to the one on my RX300. I just replaced my left one for a second time. The Rubber shrinks and comes loose from the outer shell of the mount. Looks fine, but is bad. Please note I could not duplicate the noise by moving the car up and down while sitting. On the RX there is supposedly an improved version. I put in an aftermarket one, that has a lifetime warranty, except I do the labor. Good luck
  20. There may be something loose on the bottom of the battery. It is probably moving around and shorting a cell intermittantly. I had that happen once on a battery. Some times it works next minute its dead.
  21. Hope you don't get a RX330 that breaks down after 130 miles.
  22. I am so sorry to hear of your bad luck. Funny Lexus says they will support you 24/7 but your car sits their silently waiting for Service to open on Monday or Tuesday. Hope they treat you with respect and get you on the road fast, You deserve no less. I personally will never buy another Lexus, They are over rated and not worth the money you pay for them. Good Luck Merry Christmas.
  23. The pilot definetly has more room. Reliability should be excellent on the pilot. RX visability is poor on the rear quarter posts. The pilot is probably far better for a family. Maintenance cost will probably be cheaper on the Honda.
  24. YOU must have been a good boy this year, Merry Christmas.
  25. That is an excellent question, something has to be different, maybe the shifting, the viscous coupling, I wish I knew.
