  1. When you find a good mechanic, they can do you no wrong. I am happy for you.
  2. Well if you own a rwd car then there is no debate, just get good tires. If you own fwd, again buy good tires and know the limitations of both systems.
  3. I agree with armyof1 FWD is superior, You can power out of a skid and the load is above the wheels. Provides easier response to sliding and better traction.
  4. :D Nice comments, I too applaud you to pursue your education, my son went the criminal justice route, and is now a cop, dangerous work, and again very stressful on marriages and relationship. Bad hours, but for a young man a lot of adrenalin rush. Not for me. civil engineering or mechanical engineering will provide many a job, in California it can be a gravy job at the State government. What ever you pursue is worth it. It will give you the difference in lifestyle that you want. Good luck. Enjoy your posts by the way.
  5. My contintion is that the engine over the drive wheels gives substantial traction as shown in the Swiss alps hill climbs in the winter, the front wheel drive cars were usually always the winnners. By the way I no longer live in the snow belt, but I wear Michelin cross terrains. I used to live in North Dakota and South Dakota, I remember my dad was out to work while the rest were struggling, he drove VW bug and Corvair. Great in the snow, little cold on the feet and interior (air cooled). Oh what a lost past!!!!!
  6. Hey great article, yes, maybe their car is in my future. Nice looking with all the bells and whistles.
  7. The only good rear wheel drive car in snow is a VW bug or a corvair. Both do very well in the snow and never get stuck. Oh sorry they are quite old, older than some of the fans on this site. Heh, Heh. ......
  8. Set of 6 point sockets is a must they tend to not destroy bolts when really putting the torque on. I agree watch the big sets as they give you 50 allens and count that as 50 pieces. Go for the smaller sets and buy special ones.1
  9. Oh my, another great design flaw. Buy a toyota, or a ford.
  10. Yeh, your done. The hard part is finished. I hope you H&G channel is broke though
  11. brave talk, does your wife read this stuff.
  12. They last a long time too, never had one fail.
  13. I lubed the bearing that goes between the mount and the shock tower support. by the way I had lubed that bearing before. I guess the Napa mount is just not a good quality, I have not seen the redesign on the Lexus Part.
  14. well just finished changing the left front shock upper mount from NAPA. Was free since I just changed them a year ago with the shocks, noise is gone I guess I am getting pretty good at it, did it all in less than two hours.
  15. Hey SK what is pb blaster, and where exactly are you lubing? Ok I found PB blaster on the net, but what are you spraying, and does it breakdown the rubber bushing if you spray it?
  16. Well, the weather is cold and my !@#$^ left upper strut mount is making noise again. Just replace it 12-2004, it is already moving in the metal case. It has a lifetime warranty, but I will have to perform the labor. Replace both mounts and shock struts just last year. What a bummer. Why can't anybody make a strut mount that lasts.
  17. Happy thanksgiving to everyone
  18. Oh my, reminds me of the tool man Tim, putting a jet engine on a mower. Tachometer, great, hit red line and really get a fast cut of your lawn..heh ,heh. Course we could put a turbo with intercooling on it too. If you add nitro, man you will really go. ....
  19. Its possible one of your tires has shown a defect. Maybe the belt seperated. Rotate the tires and see if the ride changes. also with that wheel size the tires are probablly very low profile, with much stiffer side walls, causing not as nice a ride.
  20. Push Lexus, if the failure is do to sludge, there is a 8 year warranty on the engine but I am not sure about second owners. Check into it.
  21. I am retired from the X company after 31 years of service, 55, and taking care of my grandaughter full time mon-fri. 6 years of Navy as a Communication Technician prior to that working for NSGA.
