  1. yea success and no alternator replacement....Ok on to next issue...
  2. I can guarantee the fluid is not bright red.....at 89k mine on the RX400h was brown.....quite dirty.
  3. That my friend is a sales pitch. I would get a fluid exchange and replace that fluid...
  4. OK the most stupid comparison I have ever wasted my time watching. Facts only a few times. Very slanted to Acura. However Just from my view the third row seat and more useable interior size is a plus on Acura MDX. The fuel economy on MDX is very good as displayed....
  5. Nice.
  6. First get the alternator fuse fixed. Your battery voltage is not good. It may be going bad.....my test above are what you will need.
  7. I know my RX300 was built in November of 1998. Cant remember the vin.
  8. Why don't you look on door jam, it has date of manufactured.

    My Vw Gti

You know cars are just better. Years ago you could depend on a British car with having issues, but car manufacturors don't like that kind of publicity....Too much info too fast. Glad that VW has worked out so well, I kind of miss my Diesel Rabbit from 1978 and funny you just don't see any now. Did they all go to Cuba, or some alien abduction? Yah your a real chick magnet with frozen, be careful your wifey will hit you in the shoulder for those wandering eyes. You know lots of women in that town that look for married guys (Monica) . Just remember she is the real McCoy and have that Walter Mitty mind, but flash to reality when kid says are we there yet.???? You are funny guy NC. Hey whats with this site, I didn't even get a Happy Birthday yesterday, Toyota, Nissan, and Ford did....
  10. I believe if you get past this electrical problem, your car would be worth much more than you quoted. I sold my RX300 with 187k miles for $6000 three years ago. It was fully functional and in great shape, but had a driveline vibration which turned out to be cradle bearings in the drive shaft to the rear wheels. The Coach edition as you remarked is weird, I didn't think that came out until 2000 or 2001?????
  11. to test alternator, start car and with headlights on, check voltage across the battery, if it measures 13.5 to 14.5 volts DC than the Alternator is charging and functioning....If the voltage measures only 12.6 or less than the alternator is toast. Check battery voltage without starting and it should measure 12.5 or 12.6 volts DC. That is a quick and dirty way to show functioning alternator.
  12. I am with you, Good old American Food, not that yuppie stuff...for want a bee's pulled pork all the way....
  13. Does that void your warranty on the Prius?
  14. Just my two cents, I would not own a BMW, the performance may be great, but the maintenance end is a nightmare. Watched my neighbor fix a oil seal leak and he ended up taking apart the whole front of the engine before he could get to it. Saw lots of other weird design flaws in his car also...Definetly not mechanically friendly.
  15. I wonder if you have a ground issue. Check to cable from the battery to chassis and engine. also check the Engine junction box fuses....You didn't cross the charging cables by mistake? There are also fuseable links in the main fuse box under the hood. maybe one of these is blown. To check grounds unhook the battery and measure resistance through the grounds cable to various points. there should be no more than 5 ohms resistance. The battery though charging may have a defective cell, that the instance a real load is put on it causes problems. So Grounds, fuseable links, and battery. Very important when checking grounds, unhook the battery's positive lead. that will give you a better measurement.
  16. My RX400h is a 2008 so you figure? Seems to be fine...
  17. Ok I finally saw your picture, In my book I would have repaired as you have stated and move on. Lexus will way over charge for that harness. as for rodents, vines are not your friend...they love vines near your home.
  18. Frankly if the wire is damaged and you feel confident with your soldering job....go with it. I would use heat shrink to surround the splice and you should be good to go. My son had the same thing happen on his Honda and we repaired the wiring and it was still going strong when he sold it 3 years later. The harness for these cars could cost you more than you want to pay....just my 2 cents.
  19. Well, Mazda is certainly a sleeper in this line. I have heard they are a great value.
  20. That is hard to say, remember mechanics aren't privy to the great information that is located on this site. Cleaning to him may be squirting fluid down the bore when in reality taking apart the IACV to clean is what is required. Unless you do things yourself, or inform a mechanic about the procedure you are at the mercy of the mechanic. Also remember he wants to be able to warrant his work which is hard to do without replacement.
  21. Funny when I was about to buy certified they claimed they fix all imperfections....Body, paint, headlights etc. That was their story. I went to CarMax and got same vehicle, same shape, $6000 less...Lexus was upset when I told them I was on the way to look at CarMax car, but they still wouldn't deal....I am not pushing CarMax, but in my case it was a huge win......Especially when I pointed out to Lexus the fogged headlamp and all they would do is try to find a good used one and replace it...so much for CPO...$6000 more in my pocket and CarMax offered a great warranty for lots cheaper.
  22. I just received a notice from them, they are closing one site, but still taking orders through another Sewell site....
  23. I like the Costco or Walmart brands...Have had excellent life on both...Also Sam's Club batteries have been quite good for me...Just don't like the O'reillys store batteries....
  24. Yup they do or did.....Oh I wont go there I was thinking of Harry Reid...
