  1. I would suggest getting your car serviced at a Toyota dealership or independent. The timing belt and water pump are not rocket science.
  2. that is about expected life. However my original went 5 years before the clock stopped keeping time correctly. (A little thing that we noticed when the batteries start going bad)
  3. Yup, they did it, but I don't understand the reasoning of changing the self tap plug everytime...should be a good to go thing.
  4. Interesting that the plug failed and dropped debris. Where those OE equipment plugs at the time or aftermarket.?
  5. First question has the timing belt been done, it is due at 90k miles...From that point on you should be maintenance free. Spark plugs are not due till 120k miles, however they would probably go easy 200k. I have 156k miles on my 2008 RX400h. Great car, will never regret.
  6. I would personally stick with Denso, as for source check Sewell Lexus, Rockauto.com, and Any other source....However like posted above, I wouldn't change unless you have a problem. The spark plugs only NGK or Denso Iridium plugs only...Do not Buy Bosch.....
  7. Hey motorcar, welcome to our humble site. Lots of good info here, and yes I love my wife's RX also....
  8. I would hold them to dents and scratches even if they have to get dent masters to fix them..Look vehicle over carefully, if any fogged headlights, or other problems tell them to fix them in advance. CPO means the car is clean and near perfect.....
  9. 60k service, you got to be kidding, oil change and check this or that....go to Toyota express lube and pay less than 50 bucks. By the way new tires don't require an alignment unless you had un-even wear on old tires, just my two cents. My Old RX300 had one alignment over 186k miles and tires never wore uneven. Had to have alignment because of curb hitting....
  10. Funny you say that, my wife thinks the RX is up higher, but everytime I drive it I note how low it is compared to other cars. I took the luggage rack off and it appears lower by looks....No longer a soccer mom car, but the RX400h is a real hot rod. Lots of power when you want it.
  11. I loved my 1980 Honda Prelude. Was a very solid and fun to drive car. Just don't see them anymore around here...Strange because they sold well. Only downside is that I bought it instead of a 1966 Corvette from my dad for the same price that I paid for the New Prelude. That was the offer and was one of the worst mistakes I have made. I know the corvette is worth a fortune now. And he was original owner and it's entire life was in California.
  12. Was the Highlander the newer one or older one? Which year....
  13. OK, I am going to jump in.....I (in my younger days) loved sports cars, started with a Austin Healey Sprite, yep no roll up windows, just two sliding windows that you attached with Thumb screws. Loved that car, on a twisty road, was a blast. Next went to a Triump TR250, Oh boy a manly car, 15 inch wheels and a straight six and of course in Spain. I was in heaven, raced all over Spain, even through the LaGuardia Civil gate at the base when the brakes failed, looked in the mirror to two State police with sub-machine guns pointed at my head....Sorry I ever sold that car, it taught me the basics of constantly repairing while driving. My last and most challenging car was the 68 Jaguar XKE fastback. Engine completely blowing oil smoke out the exhaust, but what an incredible experience after rebuilding the engine myself. That was a incredible handling auto. 90 mph in a freeway on ramp and not the slightest feeling of unstable. Truly a Lemans engineered racing heritage. However to maintain it was like taking your money and kicking it into the Grand Canyon with no end in site. Yup British cars were not meant for the faint of heart. But what a rush when they ran.....
  14. there was a recall/tsb on that problem, but not sure which years it covered and if it is still going.
  15. try rain x on your glass, it really works also....
  16. I would skip blake fluid change and yes the Toyota dealerships are great for saving money. You can sign on to mylexus.com and register your Vin # and on this site you will find service schedules as well as a place to record service records.
  17. Could be engine mounts, in particular the torsion mount on the top of engine by the brake fluid reservoir. When you say the transmission fluids have been changed, when exactly was the last time mileage wise.? Those are the two things I would think contribute to rough engine starts....
  18. Oh man I thought they were going to launch a fuel cell powered car....
  19. From experience in replacing phone displays (cell phone) the last entry is not for the weak hearted...I personally would attempt it, but many would not have the skill set to perform this....
  20. So are the ones for around $40 any good...I see them on Amazon....
  21. Your car was beautiful....Hope somebody enjoys.
  22. Wow my gift to myself was a S & W MP9 Shield....I guess the radar detector is more useful back east.....
  23. Some of the retailers on Ebay can cut the key with your vin number....Check closely
  24. there are many key producers on Ebay for much cheaper....
  25. Well said, however when I hear the service writers giving the line to others, I feel it is my obligation to inform the customer otherwise. That is why I am on these sites to help others and gain knowledge. It should not stop at these sites, but help our fellow Americans when possible to not be ripped off.
