  1. You probably have some water built up near your TPS and distributor cap. Try blowing it out with some compressed air.
  2. Help me out; when you say wheels re-balanced are you talking about checking the balance of the wheel only (no tire mounted) or are you talking about a standard tire balance? I had the tires balanced and rotated 3 weeks ago and there was no excessive amount or large balancing weight used on any wheel. This balancing did not help reduce the vibration. I apologize for not checking the forum. Re-balancing means just like it sounds, take your brand new wheels and tires and have them put new weights on. there maybe more too it than what I was thinking it would be. Did you or the mechanic check the bearings, and have you isolated the side of the vibration? Also, check the tires themselves just in case the tire-belts on one of them is going bad-yes it happens to new ones as well( you could use the spare to isolate one wheel at a time). Are you seeing any lights like the Trac lights or ABS flashing. Also, if you have more information on when you're experiencing the problem other than at high speeds that would also be helpful--road conditions, when you noticed it for the first time etc Vibrations are based on contact with the road. it has to lie with the items that are making contact with the surface. Wheels and tires would be guess without looking.
  3. What was the status of your serpentine belt(drive belt), thermostat? also if you need a fan clutch- I can give you mine.
  4. Sounds like a wheel vibration. Have you tried to have you wheels re-balanced?
  5. And if you press the button that says A/C on it, the A/C turns on!!! ;) Brilliant!!
  6. Are you sure it's the upper control arm, because my clunking noise was based on something else. Try Wheel barring( probably because I waited for such a long time to repair the clunking noise) and a worn lower control arm bushing(about $30-60). Don't forget your car is sitting on the ground. Raising it actually shifts parts. Before you spend the money, diagnose the problem. Take it to a mechanic and get their opinion.
  7. Hope you didn't sell your SC. Buddy I got wooped by an MR two weeks ago and I was in running @90 mph. Remember he's got a turbo you don't. Find a Twin turbo Supra w/ auto and swap it out. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg figuring out what goes where. I've just finished installing my big brakes and working out the kinks. Next year I'll install the Engine, transmission and exhaust. just have patience and all your worries will wash away. BTW you and I have similar taste. I have a red sc3 with the Vertex bodykit with a cheap(ebay) intake cone- sounds great. I went with the L-tuned GS430 18's wheels and a 5speed transmission. Can you do me a favour and see if you have a limited Slip differential? We're not supposed to have one but mine has it.
  8. Thanks guys. I buy them as soon as I'm able to put the car down and test it. Still waiting for the correct fitting hoses to arrive for the brakes.
  9. Sk: Haven't you swapped your stock springs for Coilovers on the ES? I didn't see any rubber stops. Was it an option that I didn't see?
  10. I'd say stick with the 2jz and add turbos after you've rebuilt the engine and tranny. The SC will be faster compared to the Integra since it's a i-6 instead of the I-4. With just the stock setup the Supra twin-Turbo w/o VVT-i is ranging from 280-320bhp. The 1jz requires too many steps and a lot of time to invest into it. You can also search this forum for people who've swapped and added turbos to their SCs.
  11. 138 before I was chased by the police chopper. :( Had fun explaining that to the judge. No jailtime.
  12. hey guys: I'm fairly new to Coilovers, and this is my first set of coilovers. Has anybody heard any clicking noises after the coilovers were installed? thanks
  13. you can get to it from the trunk, just remove the covers and you'll see the tank. Pumps right ontop.
  14. It's probably one of those "Meet your Car" sessions where they introduce you to the dealership and tries to teach you about the car. I used to host a couple of them when I was working at an Infiniti dealer. We used to have a rep from the Service and Sales dept go over the functionality of the car. You don't have to if you don't want to.
  15. Don't know what PITA is. I think it's wise to buy it on ebay and have the dealer cut it. There's a possibility that the service department will offer you a deal parts and installation/reprogramming the alarm to work with the master. There are probably a couple of people on the forum who've reprogrammed the alarm and key. try to search through the forum for Reprogramming Alarm.
  16. I've used both, but the Denso's produced a higher spark compared the NKS. Also, 88-today toyota engines use Denso's so I'd stick with that.
  17. No. I've come across a couple of posts about a few guys in Australia saying they've converted it successfully, but that would require a lot of time and money if you wanted to do it. I'd go with the SC3. BTW if you find another 5sp SC, buy it. they are extremely hard to come by. Just an opinion
  18. It sounds like when you cleaned the window, you didn't clean the jams( the grove in which the window rests) you can use the same cleaner and lubricant to take care of that.
  19. Danny: welcome to the club. we usually don't recommend shops inside the Threads. I'm glad you found your hood struts on Amazon, but we really don't recommend suggested sources with the Link. We usually recommend the dealers if you don't want to work on your car, and focus primarily on technical issues and opinions on what to use or how to do it. this is the reason why I've edited your post. Sorry. UCF3 Moderator us.LexusownersClub.com

    Hi There!

welcome to the club. Are you interested in buying new mats or protect the existing ones from dirt and grim. I would suggest the rubber mats. You might have to google for rubber mats AND Lexus GX. Replacing the carpetted, dealer, ebay, google, or just clean them. You can look at the lexusownersclub detailing forums and see what other members suggest- products and techniques. You're question about custom, try looking for an auto-interior specialty shop in you area. All cities have at least one. most of them are able to use a custom stitch anything for you if you have the $$$.
  21. Not sure if you're still looking. I'm seeing a lot of them for 31-33k. DArustik: Since you work for the Lex dealer, I'm look at a 06 gs300 with 60k on it(yeah I know). Kbb is coming back with 28132-32100 for Good to Excellent. Any thoughts on pricing? I've attempted to offer 28 for the high mileage or should I go further down?
  22. Not sure if you're still looking, but I'd like to put in my two cents. I've worked for an Infiniti dealer and Toyota dealer. I've had both the M35 and Avalon as demos. I definitely like the Avalon but I'm afraid it's too soft. i own a 94 LS and 95 SC, and can tell the huge differences in performance and handling. If you don't have to buy a sedan I'd go with the G37s or wait a bit for either the Nissan(GT-R) or Lexus(LF) supercars. Either one of them should blow the Corvette away. If you have to get a sedan, you can shoot for M45 Sport or GS460h for the fuel economy Whatever Lexus you get, opt for the sport version since you're coming out of a C5. the bigger wheels and suspension are worth the extra cost.
  23. No Synthetic Oil is better than Convensional (Dino) oil. It cools your block and lubricates parts more efficiently than convensional oil because it's slightly thinner than the same weight convensional oil. Vacation, mentioned changing your oil every 5K. Toyota and Lexus recommend 3k in the book but a lot of dealers including the guys from TRD change their oil every 6-6500 miles. This way we can keep the engine lubed for the correct amount of time without spending an arm&leg.
  24. Where in MD are you? I might be able to troubleshoot the problem or go to my mechanic. I thought it was the TPS as well, but you may have to replace a couple of 02 sensors as well Email me at UCF3LOC@netscape.net if you're in the DC Area and you haven't solved the problem.
  25. Yeah, that was pretty smart@$#. :chairshot: ...not to be a smartass but...in every car i have ever had...and i have had alot, all you have to do is push the lighter in, and when it pops, its ready for use...in one car, it even shot clear into my hand! :P :) :D :D Im JK, glad you squared him away blake., how you doin anyway?
