  1. No, I tried to do that with my LS, couldn't get it to work. Aftermarket would be the only way-that I can think off.
  2. Well it is a Toyota not a Honda I wouldn't be that worried about it unless you saw smoke from your engine bay. You could do it yourself; a lot of us have done it before.
  3. I would think either from inside or outside the car you should be able to feel something; otherwise how would it work. let me know either way.
  4. I really don't know where the connectors are for rear Defroster. i haven't done this before. You should be able to access it from the trunk near the gas tank. Are the defroster grids getting hot at all?
  5. Just my opinion: It also depends on how rear the car is? I bought a 95 sc300 5sp with a limited slip diff. It had 180k miles on it and was definitely in an accident. Luckily I am a little mechanically savvy and said from the start that this will be a project car. Also, how mechanically savvy are you; can you fix this by yourself without access to a lift(or maybe you do). Also how patient you are getting parts cheap... The leaking oil and the Trac light might be connected. on the AUto cars the rear main sensor might have gone bad due to oil spilling out from the engine or transmission. It will require at least 4-6hrs of work. $2k is kind of cheap. If you can get the buyer to repair for leaks and whatever else needs to be worked on, you could offer him $4500-5300 but wait for him to offer you. Or you could buy it and try to repair it using your own mechanic. Also keep in mind parts won't be cheap. Labor is if you do it yourself. good-luck
  6. I'd opt for some Toyota Supra or better control arms. I'd replace all of them. Think of it as an upgrade that will help provide you with better traction and control on turns. Also, don't forget to get an alignment done afterwards.
  7. it looks very close to the Mythos Bodykit. The only place I saw that kit was in Japan.
  8. Can you better explain what you were doing, and what happened when you were driving @ 70mph? also is the check engine light on, and did you or anyone else work on the car recently.
  9. ? your ECU is fried? <_<
  10. I don't think so. I believe it's getting a signal from the Cam Shaft, but I might be mistaken.
  11. That's funny, I tried to fit the front caliphers from my SC on my 94 LS. It didn't look like a direct fit one was bigger than the other. Caspergsx: I need to get rid of the front and rear brakes (minus the dust shields) from my SC. I believe they should be an exact fit. I can sell you the bunch relatively cheap if you're still interested. Email @ ucf3loc@netscape.net
  12. It sounds like the Mirror regulator(ecu). I'd opt for a new one from the dealer; to me even if it doesn't fix the problem the fact that I've replaced the part is a piece of mind. Nolyaw: can you describe how to get to it? perhaps our friend would like to tackle this on his own.
  13. There is a guy I've used in the past and he's contact info is pinned in either the SC or LS Forums. Run a search for Jim Walker. He usually charges a good some depending on what needs to be replaced. He changed my LED Backlights and one of my needles for my LS; he charged me around 750(500 for the needle and Speedometre) and the bulbs. Definitely disconnect the battery. My Airbag light came on as well.
  14. I don't think they'll shoot up by themselves. I've replaced mine and they don't, but they'll shoot up with a little push.
  15. there should be a button near the joystick. try playing with that.
  16. Gha Vn: Do you have a Lexus phone? If you don't, it maybe a future problem that you'll have to troubleshoot.
  17. Laws differ from state to state. In MD, the law says 35% on all windows. If the cop wasn't able to measure the tint on the spot using a certified tint meter then you might have a case. Also if you remove the tint, and have State Police or County Sheriffs/Police Officers observe that then you could tell a judge/prosecutor to drop the charge on the grounds the tint's removed. They can't charge you if it's not present on the car I don't see why you're fussing over it. It sounds like the cop gave her a break. She could have been charged her with the speeding-a Moving violation.
  18. When was the last time you had your tires balanced? Also are they new tires? Not sure if you've already done these. You could stop by a cheap shop like a Walmart and ask them to balance your all four wheels and tires. You may want to look for a bent wheel or a bad tire(belts have moved). the balance machine and the shop will eliminate that. Next if you had any major suspension work done, like what 90LexusLS400 was experiencing, changed control arms, added a cross bar in the past; you may need to have an alignment done. start with these.. and work your way to the more detail oriented stuff.

  20. you may also need a new throttle positioning sensor(TPS), and have it calibrated. Check engine light on, and is the oil at the right level?
  21. can't think of anything off the top. don't own a 93 GS. Have you looked at the fuses inside the engine bay and under the dash? there should be one on the Driver's side kicker panel. Not
  22. It sounds like a tune-up issue-like Jibby mentioned. Can you find out when was the last time the car had a tune-up? A bad alternator, a blocked fuel rail also does something like this. Let's start with the Throttle body, tune-up, and if you have a AutoZone near you-you could ask to see if the Alternator is still good.
  23. It should be a one piece. were you able to remove the trim around the shifter?
  24. How long will it take, depends on how fast you can work. It took me 4hrs to replace them all-9hrs on the books. Charge approximately $4-700 under the table. You may also want to replace the gasket around the transmission dip-stick; for some funny reason mine was leaking and didn't stop.
  25. I'd opt'd for a 1.5 or 2.0 LSD and some better tires. What do you need Trac for anyway?
