  1. sometimes a good quality battery (ie. DieHard, Panasonic(Lexus/Toyota) and a few others help prevent this problem. A weak Alternator or bad terminal connections can cause this.
  2. how sleezy. Sorry to read about it. Is anybody aware of an aftermarket fix?
  3. You can look at the rotors for blemishes(like burn marks, discoloration, and dings). If you see large blemishes with deep scratch marks along the pads then you should consider replacing them. If the dealer replaced them or turned them, you can look at the rotors and see if they look new or do they still have road grime of them. I stopped considering whether they're OEM or otherwise because they are wear and tear items. I've bought rotors and pads from NAPA and Brakeplanet.com before and they do the job. I couldn't find this center screw you're referring to. I don't think the LS430 is a six or eight piston caliper system so there shouldn't be the need for a center screw. Can you go over this one more time, and post some pictures on the forum so that I can look at what you're talking about? It sounds like the rear shoes need to be replaced. I would go ahead and replace that. The paint issue I wouldn't worry about it that much. It could have been road debree or something of that nature.
  4. have you uploaded any sound clips anywhere? Oh, forgot to ask, any thoughts on adding a bodykit?
  5. Are you seeing any smoke coming out of the tail pipe? White indicates a coolant leak into the engine. Also when was the last time you completed a Coolant Flush, and is your thermostat going up anymore? I'm thinking the lack of coolant may have shut the A/C Compressor which may require servicing, and it might have been a clog that caused the leak, but this is just a though. Can you post some pics to this thread so that we can see what you're referring to?
  6. Is the compressor turning? also is the A/C LED on? Is your climate control blowing warm or cold air, and off course answer the questions from above?
  7. I'm looking for the front Ashtray door. Available? Sorry, but I've gotta move this Topic to the Buy and Sell Forum.
  8. Wow. This is gotta be the most common question asked on this Forum. Jzz30 I'm going to Pin this Forum.
  9. Gorgious!!! I don't think I'll ever get over the beauty of the SC. BTW what brand exhaust is that?
  10. just out of curiosity does anyone have an owners manual for the LS430? Perhaps it's written in there.
  11. Look for a couple of screws underneath the spoiler, or it may just pop out. Before that, you may want to check the connections inside the main cabin underneath the rear-carpet. There should be a connector that you can use a volt meter against to check continuity. Since you're mentioned the entire panel isn't working that would be my first target. LEDs usually don't blow-out. They burn slowly over time.
  12. What kind of noise are you hearing? swishing intermittently while driving, or when you apply the brakes.
  13. Welcome to the club. There are a number of exhaust options you can acquire, but it will eventually drill down to how loud you want to go. I've found Rod Millen Mufflers to sound quite nice, quiet a low torque, but when you rip it open it sounds like deep sounding Borla. I've purchased a cat-back Phoenix Exhaust I'm hoping to install on my SC this weekend. I'll upload a sound bit once I can. In the meantime, I'd recommend checking out Intellexual.net. They have a few sound bits that might help you decide.
  14. beats me. got any pictures?
  15. are your Battery terminals clean? I;ve experienced a moment when I though my Alternator was fried. Turned out the alternator was fine, the terminals had too much corrosion.
  16. I guess you can say I'm in the same boat, but I don't really let it bother me anymore. I used to fix one thing and a few other things would break, but later I discovered, once I did a through maintenance, fluid flush, new belts, and a couple of little things it was fine. For some odd reason bolt-on aftermarkets don't work well on Lexus cars. found that out after spending 10k on my LS and couldn't wait to get rid of it.
  17. I'd opt for Premium as well. Remember we chose what we want to drive and we chose to drive LUXURY. :)
  18. Wow! I couldn't wait to get rid of my spare saving the extra weight and space and you want to add it. No way you want to stick with the AAA program. Since I have a kit on my SC and stagged Wheels makes it difficult to choose a spare wheel. This is what I'd do. Locate enough space to mount the spare either outside or inside the trunk. Then find a shop that can bend tubular pipes and ask them to build you a security bracket. Chances are they can secure it to you car with bolts and hinges.
  19. I personally don't think UZFE Engines are designed to access so much water (H + O2). In-fact chances are the the fuel line will freeze with excess water during winter, and the injectors will damage the cylinders. I've come across Methane and Alcohol run Toyota engines, but this, not such a good idea.
  20. Isn't this a reoccurring Run-Flat tire issue?
  21. I would image any brand will do. Have you looked through the Crutchfields catalog or Pioneers website? I will suggest an MP4 player though with a backup cam.
  22. you may need a new Climate Control unit or may need to rebuild this one. There is a Thermostat sensor in the unit itself or the outside sensor.
  23. Also check out whether the HVAC Door is moving. Test it by Switching from Extreme COLD to 85degrees. The door should be on the passenger side firewall inside the engine-bay. You can also try getting a hold of JPI. I believe he's in your region and can give you some tips.
  24. You may also want to consider replacing the stock exhaust systems from the headers down. If you want, you can remove some of the plastic sound dampening material in the engine bay.
  25. Toyota Dealer would be my choice. The others you're risking. try on Ebay as well.
