  1. I have the same problem with my 93 SC400, did the vacuum thing like the rest of you let me know if you find out as well please. Thanks
  2. Someone stole the radio out of my car, so I replaced with an after market double din touch screen dvd-cd player. I didn't need a dash kit I used the bracket from the old radio. There is a small gap on the bottom so I went to tap plastic and had the cut a piece of black plastic to go across. Looks pretty good.
  3. I think your problem is pretty standard. My car did the same thing, power steering pump leaked and the rack and pinion bushing was bad. I changed it all (have a guy who is a retired Lexus mechanic)because you have to take everything in the front of the engine off, had him change timing belt, power steering pump, rack and pinion and do a tune up. Cost about $1000.00 with parts. the rack and pinion is $3000.00 at the dealer, got it for $150.00 at Toyota wrecking yard works fine.
  4. I have a 93 400, the radio was stolen so I went all out! Cd-dvd 7'' screen in dash, Memphis 4'' speakers and tweeters in the door, Alpine 6.5''Type R speakers in the rear deck (removed the 8'' speaker from the rear deck, lexus's are sealed tight so it's hard to get sound from the truck) 2 Alpine type R 12'' speakers in a sealed box in truck with a JL Audio 1000 watt amp, 600 watt 4 channel amp to push highs and mids. Most people would think this is over kill and I agree (55years old) But with I'm driving to Lake Tahoe in the summer with the sun roof open and the windows down listening to jazz or old R&B It's worth every penny,
  5. I have an alarm on my 93 sc400 with remote in key. The guy put a jumper box over the factory alarm, inside rear panel in back seat. The key, alarm and install cost me about $125.00 I have had it for about two years and it works very will. The shop is in South San Francisco, Ca. But I think he will ship parts. The install is real simple.
  6. I have 18"s 245-40 in the front and 245-45 in the rear. I would think about twenties but I don't like tires under a 40 sidewall.
  7. I have the same problem, first the car wouldn't idle. I found some vaccum lines that were broken I fixed them now it dies when I first start it in the morning still checking for vaccum leaks.
  8. I got a replacement remote for $100.00, about two years ago. It's the key remote with the buttons on the key. It took about 15 minutes and It works fine to this day. I will see if I can find the name of the shop and post it. By the way the shop is in South San Francisco, Ca
  9. Would you please explain more about the mods for the sc400. I like the words simple and affordable!!! Thank you Ray
  10. I am 54yrs. and I drive a 93 SC 400. I have 18's after market mufflers(chrome), cold air intake. I can't even stop at the gas station without some young guy asking to buy it. So in reply to the gentleman who couldn't understand why a young guy would want an SC! I guess they just don't like them on Mars, were he lives! P.S. I also have wood grain kit on the console with a in-dash cd/dvd player, 2 Memphis 4" speakers on each door (stock tweeters) two Alpine R-type 6.5 speakers in the rear deck. the bass comes from one Kenwood 10" thin mount speaker in the rear deck and 2 JL Audio 10" speakers in a box. the mids and highs are pushed by a 600 watt peak amp and the bass is pushed by an 1100 watt peak amp. The point! My car looks good and sounds good as I roll down the highway! But not as good as yours, ESScee!!!
  11. The car comes with 4.5 but 5.25" fit with not mods
  12. I would like to know if it is possible to install a 2007 LS460 engine into a 1993 sc400.
  13. I got a remote key in South San Francisco,ca. The guy cut a new key and installed a little remote jumper box that bypassed the old box on the left rear quarter panel all this cost $100.00. I got it about 3 years ago and it's still working fine.
  14. I kept the same tweeters but I changed the stock 41/2 speakers to memphis (two on each door) alpine 6.5's in rear deck with memphis 10''. two rockford amps in trunk. I'm not using stock amp. Great sound!
