Have you check on how much the new cluster will cost? I would suggest checking iwht Lexus and Toyota.
-
Why don't you call the dealership and ask them if your VIN is still under warranty?
-
I wouldn't if I were you. Chances are you're going to break your transmission or even the driveshaft. If you drop it into 2nd gear from a high speed you're likely to lock-up the breaks and wear out the ABS and pads sooner. I usually, drop into neutral and brake; the car's pretty heavy. More brake fade over time. You could upgrade the brakes to 13" rotors and pads. Much better than the stock ones. Any reason why you're late-braking?

very nice, but i feel bad that you had to sell your SC/Soarer.

It sounds like you may have a clog in your cooling setup and/or even a bad water pump. I'd start by changing the coolant. I'd do a complete coolant flush, and use some conditioning agent like a BG coolant additive. THat should help clean the clog as well.

Mind if I ask why you're selling this car. You have a 95 w/ 56k. I wish I had your car, but gotta have it in stick.
-
I wish you lived near the DC Metro area; then I could have checked it out or recommended a good shop to you. Look through the yellow pages for a Toyota Specialty shop in the Hickville area. Ask them to troubleshoot. You can also ask JPI for his opinion on what it could be. I can help you get the parts a little cheaper.

It sounds like your strut bushings are worn, but you mentioned that your tyres are wearing unevenly. That's a totally different thing. what were your alignment readings?

Ahh the nasty check engine/trac light. Facing it right now with my LS. What year is your LS? Code 25, is referring to air-fuel ratio running lean. It could be anything. It's possible that one or more O2 sensors needs to be replaced. Do you have an exhaust leak anywhere?

Looks like we're getting another member in this forum

The Infiniti Gs, Ms and FXs are really good. I'd go with one of them before an Ac.

I take it you're referring to the ones infront. In NY, the law says you have to have amber turning signals. The lense wise, you can have clear ones, but it illuminates white or clear which should be the same, it would be illegal. Most fo the replacement lenses available from Nopi or some of our favourite Online merchants include an amber bulb.

It depends on how much experience they have with your car. If it's their first time doing it then all day is possible. Compressing the springs will be the other issue. If you want them lowered like I have, most shops has to send them out to be pressed; expect at least a couple of hours or so depending on their work load. If you want to, you could tackle this yourself. I used my floor jack to compress the lowered springs into place.

Brake Light, Oil Light, Radiator Light Coming On.
UCF3 replied to calean007's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
None of these lights should be coming on unless they are running thin or empty. How thin are your pads, and have you checked out your oil level? -
Sluggo: Do you have any pics from your car?

Im Considering A Sc400...need Advice.
UCF3 replied to Avi Sarfaraz's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Sorry for the late response. The 93 SC400 is a good car to buy. It doesn't have any major problems to really be concerned about. the Motor and tranny are pretty solid. A car with 200k miles on it, i'd definitelly check the service history @ the dealer, 15k-30-60k-90k services. In fact before putting money down, I'd take it to the dealer and have they run a pre-certified inspection. They normally charge around $150-250 depending on where you live. if you don't enough info, i'd start with a complete fluid flush (Coolant, oil, power steering, brakes). Also, replace the timing and serpentine belts if you see any cracks. pick up the dipstick and make sure there aren't any burn marks or sludge buildup(corsy/burnt oil/rubbery). The major problems I found with my LS was the power steering pump failed and started to leak on the alternator. It was pain to replace the pump because of the last bolt which is accessble from underneath the car. I would also consider buying a new battery. You can test it using a volt metre or get a read out from an AutoZone, walmart, advanced auto or Pepboys. The tranny is pretty solid. The only problem I had was with the rear-main seal leaking. It's a major problem, and will cost you about $1000 to fix at the dealers. I personally don't trust AAMCO or somebody else, unless they're a Toyota Certified Master Technician. The other problem I should mention are the lower control arm bushings on my SC3. It's expensive to replace to control arms, but they're are a couple of kits available. You could put it on an alignment rack to see if you have any other problems. The UZF1 motor is good car to buy. I haven't had to many major problems with my cars. If you're a do-it-yourselfer, you're golden. If you choose to buy, I'd like to welcome you to the Soarer family. For more information on the SC400, and you're definitely going to buy the SC chekc out this link. -
I think they're reffering to the deaccelaration taking a toll on the little clutches in the trans. Acceleration is a gradual increase in-which the clutches are sliding normally. I'm not really impressed with the new trans. Have you had an opportunity to talk to the Lexus Service Advisors yet? Ask them if they are aware of any problems with the new trans.

Help Me Choose Right! Keep The '91 & Do The Work
UCF3 replied to Gumart1's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
I guess you should ask yourself if you can really afford this car. All of the repairs in the above posts can get rather expensive, and since the problems have started around the 140-153k Mileage there's a good chance a few other things will malfunction in the near future. Also, since your coming up to the next major service time(160k) I would debate whether it's worth spending another $1-3k getting the car fully operational. I wouldn't because I'll be spending more money down the road. -
Have you found a shop where you can use thier lift. That will potentially help you the most?

In my opinion, getting the right tools would be essential. Using Long wrenches from Snap on and Matco Tools should do the trick. I'm also going to recommend some BG products BG Product Distributors

UCF3, To correct your statement, the rims in the picture you posted on that 1st Gen Wald modified LS 400 are the Wald "Dutchatlet Exchange" rims. Wald is Wald and when it comes down to the aesthetics of any of their cars they only utilize Wald products. You asked for a link to the Wald-Japan website, here it is: http://www.wald-japan.co.jp/wald/catalog/a.../toyota/05.html That's the direct link to the V3 bodykit and pricing info page. While you're there, take a closer look at the rims. Enjoy! ← you're right. They look like the Carlsons I was interested in getting. thanks for the info. I'm going to see if I can get our parts department ship them.

Think those wheels are Carlson wheels, expect to pay at least $1800 for the set. You might have a better shot getting 05 LS wheels.
-
Do you have the link to the Walds site?
-
Hey guys: Does anyone know of a retailer selling Gen I LS Bodykits. I'm looking for a WALDs one specifically:
-
You know, it's just an opinion. THink about it. Right now the New GS isn't as highly rated by any of the top selling magazines.
