  1. Generally if the dealer did the recall and they can show it, it's probably been done already. I believe 0w20 and 5w20 is recommended by Lexus for your car so something tells me your indy might have had a something loose causing the shaking. Perhaps a loose spark plug wire.
  2. Most likely from the moonroof. There is at least one drain leading away from the moonroof. try blowing it out with some compressed air
  3. It might be a reoccurring issue. Just got my disconnect message from the NAV system after I was troubleshooting my VAIS XM started to give out. On some of the other forums this issue is reoccurring and nobody has a permanent fix other than replacement
  4. Agree. Had my ISF for the past three and half years and loved it.
  5. . that's good. Perhaps I'll join it when I'm able to buy my GTR.
  6. Glad to see the 2014 is longer and the back seat area is more space. I don't see any fog lights. What happened over over?
  7. Afraid, I;m not on NICO. I'm on 6speedonline.com and mostly on this forum and CL. I was modding on one of the Infiniti forums back in the day but haven't been on it for quite sometime. Why do you ask?
  8. @ 13IS250c, I'm like you. At first I won't like the new look but eventually it will grow on me. It's too bad you didn't wait for the 14s. The LFA style dash is my favorite feature so far.
  9. Interesting!!! There's a UniChip available for the GS? I'm going to have to wait til my engine is rebuilt (CSP) before I consider chipping or getting an X pipe exhaust system. I like the idea of a carbon fiber overlay intake. Did you delete the intake plenum and added a cone? Unfortunately, the AWD doesn't have a Trac disable button. One of the other forums mentioned a sequence of steps to follow that will disable the VDC on the AWDs --------- Courtesy of lkapimp216 on Clublexus.com 1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car. 2. Start the engine. 3. Engage the parking brake. 4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. 5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. 6. Disengage the parking brake. 7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal. 8. Engage the parking brake, the disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal). 9. Engage the parking brake, the disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal). 10. Release the brake pedal. 11. Engage the parking brake. 12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. 13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release. VDC light will remain off until you restart your engine again and you have 30 seconds to follow the procedure. ------------------------
  10. There should also be a module under the drivers-side kicker-panel that you can pull to disable DRL. This guy won't be checking this post. he's only has one post throughout the thread.
  11. Lexus dealers aren't the only one who over torque. Sears, NTB etc., over torque frequently due to the type of gun they use. Your best bet would be to use a little anti-seize paste on your studs. It will help you break easily. I remember when i worked for a local Infiniti Dealer most of the techs would use torque sticks but the Tire and Lube guy wouldn't bother. He was eventually fired for a different reason but we would complain about it a lot.
  12. Don't forget to get a four-wheel alignment afterwards.
  13. Impressive. Love the 6 month insurance price you're paying. Wish I had something similar. Two Lex'is and LM is saying, gatcha !!!
  14. no, my crappy GS300 AWD is the best.

  16. Yikes!! Well, my dealer (Lexus of Rockville) pretty much gave me the same reason, oil and misfires are not related, which is true. It's a cause and effect relationship. The misfires are causing the engine to run lean or rich, occasionally. You're not loosing 1.7 qrtz of oil every time you drive. You're loosing it over a period from your oil change time til you go to replace the oil. I change my oil over 6-8 months because I don't drive my GS over long distances, don't throttle-up that often, and my ECU isn't forcing certain conditions to happen to the engine. Result I only lost .2qrtz within the 8 months ( Synthetic 5/w30 w/toyota filter and original spark plugs from 75k tune-up). Your condition can be much worse than mine. The CPO advisery states they will replace the piston ring, pistons, clean up carbon build-up around the rings. What they won't cover is the catalytic converter that is ruined and smells like crap (literally), spark plugs etc. They are limiting their liability that way. I won't argue with a fellow Land-Cruiser and Supra lover. I'd buy a Cruiser or a turbo-charged FJ over a Rover any day, and I love the 2JZ motors. Been racing Toyota and Yamaha motors since I was 7. This Club specializes with Lexus but most of us are die-hard Toyota owners and we take pride in that. Let us know if Lexus adds your car to the CPO.
  17. That sounds like a plan. Plus, the dealer wants your car to fail with the right code. My dealer is ecstatic about my piston ring issue becuase they're going to make at least $4-5k off the build labor. I am still waiting on back-order parts before my build can start. I have 108k on my GS AWD and I am the third owner. Previous two never bothered to look up this critical problem so they never brought it to the attention of the NJ dealer. :chairshot: You're right, Honda has made some really well-built engines over the years and my parents don't complain about them either. I am more driven by Toyota's performance motors and durability, so when this problem came up I too was sad. Lexus isn't the only brand that has this oil consumption issue. it's very common amongst German cars; the 09-11 M3s and M5s are experiencing this problem as well. Luckily Lexus is doing something to help us, the consumer. If you own a BMW or Audi, you stuck with the rebuild bill, so give Lexus some credit.
  18. DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR YET. Well I can't speak for the dealer but I don't recall seeing an Autolite spark plug available for any Lexus car out there, so there's a good chance the dealer is correct. the plugs you have were not designed for your car. I would suggest changing them out with ones designed for your engine. Since they're are diagnosing the oil consumption problem I would eliminate the spark plugs being one of the causes for misreading on their instruments, especially the one that tells them if you're a candidate for the CPO. If you're not interested in going back to the Lexus Dealer, you can try going to a toyota dealer or a Toyota Specialist in your area. Their labor will be cheaper and you have that piece of mind that it's done correctly. Since you haven't listed what year your GS300 is I can't look-up the part for you. Also take a look at the receipt Lexus gave you for additional parts and services you need to perform. try visiting: JCwitnney, Summitracing or Ebay, select your year, make, model and engine size and follow the recommended spark plugs and wires. good luck and keep us informed.
  19. No it's not normal. Is there another Lexus dealer in your town that you can go to? A toyota dealer can do the same test. Also, what brand spark plugs are you using anyway?
  20. I'm seeing some images of a GS-F. Maybe it will be next.

  22. It should mean, while your engine is cold use 19.... ohms. You could re-use the drained coolant but I would ask what for? Amazon sells the Toyota red-coolant online. I would buy that. While you've got the coolant drained, I would consider replacing the thermostat sensor if you know for a fact the water pump has not been replaced within the past few years. I don't think you've mentioned how many miles and what kind of service history the car has. This would be a good time to think about protecting your investment.
  23. Al the lights are supposed to be off unless you have an issue. Let's solve one thing at a time. I don't remember where the EGR valves are on the UZF1 engine but based on the pictures it's off the IAC Valve. Someone posted this on an old post. see attachment. Testing and Inspection EGR Valve.pdf
  24. Don't worry about the TRAC light. It comes on whenever the engine shows an error. To clear the error code you can unplug the battery terminal, wait a minute and replug, but don't do that yet. Your error light will come back on. Good thing you caught the Air Filter. I generally prefer the K&N or another washable filter since they do get dirty and it would be waste of money to keep having to buy a new one. I haven't used Seafoam before because I heard others say the fuel injectors can get clogged. I have heard others use ZMAX to cleanse and lubricate but don't really think it's needed if you maintain your car specially changing the oil and filter. Sicne your car is historic, I would also check out the spark plugs THe code 25 error could still be a number of things. Start with the EGR tubes and injectors. Clean them out with some carborator/injector cleaner. Once done. reset your computer and drive. 10-20 minutes should trigger the error code to come back with the same or different code. Hopefully, the error isn't being caused by a failed o2 sensor.
  25. Never did it myself. Doesn't the trim come off?
